I have to admit I was a little ticked at Jessie on the last episode of What Not to Wear. Nick cut her hair and gave her a really nice style and she really didn't like it and really mourned the loss of her Texas blonde "big hair". She is 52 years old. Honestly, I think that, before, she looked in her 60s trying to look in her 40s (without success mind you). With Nick's new cut, color (a warmer blonde) and style she looked younger than she looked before. She probably looked 50 trying to look 50 which is GOOD.

Well, she just couldn't get past it and a month after the makeover she got extensions put in and colored it back to the bright blonde. Now, she looks like she's in her 60s again trying to look 45.

I saw this episode and thought the same thing. The bright blonde big hair made her look much older. The cut and color Nick gave her made her look much more natural.

I wouldn't be surprised is she went right back to her 'floozie' type clothes too.

I liked her hair after Nick did it, too.

She had a really flat affect that made her look to be either depressed or on depression medications. She just showed very little emotion or facial expression, and seemed to be hating the whole experience. I bet they the producers/Stacy/Clinton wish they'd never done her. She's probably a really nice lady, but she just didn't seem up to this emotionally.

Agreed. I loved her comment that she didn't think men would like her short hair. I've had hair that short or shorter since I was in H.S. (different styles throughout the years) & never had a problem with gaining male attention. If a guy is that shallow to turn his back on you simply for the length of your hair he's not worth it!

Even here in TX the big hair look is out & very dated.

I felt so bad for her. :( Granted, I am also a Texan, and "big hair" really does never go out of style... But I thought her hair looked just awful after he whacked it all off. Bleh. I would have been just as devastated as she was, and my hair is just long, not that "big."

During the end segment where the makeover models her new clothes for Stacy and Clinton, you could definitely tell that they were not as excited about her transformation as they usually are and that they hardly even said goodbye. I didn't even see the whole episode, I only saw the part I described above and I could even tell that it must have been a miserable experience all around.

Wow. I thought the hair cut and style Nick gave here was great. Different strokes for different folks I guess...

Pictures! I need pictures! :rotfl::rotfl:

I love WTNW, but didn't see this episode.

I saw that episode. I thought she was sad. The woman at 52 had absolutely no self worth. Every thing she did, said and wore was all about catching some man.
Remember they had to tell her " When you try to compete with 25 year olds, the 25 year old always win".
The haircut was fierce. It made her look successful and classy. I don't mind long hair but she seemed intent on doing "I'm an bar fly/hooker" hair.

My bet, that the sequence and glitter is back within 2 months. Nothing worse than a 50 year old bar fly trying to look 30.

This episode was so depressing. I kept alternating between feeling so sorry for that woman and wanting to throttle her. I can totally pick out her type, though: no self esteem because she doesn't have a man, and she isn't attractive to men becuase she has no self esteem. Plus she said she kept competing with her -frakly trashy and unattrative- daughter for men, which is creeeepy.

As far as her hair goes, I think Nick is a hack. Her hair was ok, not stunning. I think that half her devestation was due to his lack of empathy. He asks for her opinion, hears that she loves her long hair, then hacks the heck out of it and gleefully waves the cut off hair under her nose. He's just a jerk. It certainly looked far better than before her cut, but I thought he could have maybe just given her a trim, a more modern style in a longer version and updated the color to be something found in nature. He could have also explained why yellow hair is unrealistic on a woman her age, but no, just hack and cackle.

Carmindy proved what a total sweetheart she is in this epi .

I saw this episode and thought the same thing. She looked the same 2 months after she got home as she did when she started. I loved her hair after Nick cut it, and most women would kill to have a $300 haircut! With all due respect, I don't think Nick is a hack. I think most of those women on that show just want to cling to their youth (aka long hair) and don't see how much better they look with a real style.

She honestly did seem either depressed, sad or maybe just had ZERO personality. If someone handed me $5000 and told me I would have expert help shopping for all new clothes I think I would show a LITTLE more excitement than she did! Even after Carmindy did her makeup she still seemed less than excited. All she cared about was that she thought men only liked long hair. Maybe someday she will realize that if a man doesn't like you because your hair is short, maybe he isn't worth having. :confused3

I just think she came across as ungrateful and unappreciative and I wish they would have given the makeover to someone a little more deserving.

Oh, I know. It looked great after Nick cut it, though I wasn't super crazy about the color. Then after she had the stylists give her a flip, I thought it looked a little goofy. But changing it back to that ugly wig-looking extension style was horrible.

Did you hear her say she called all the men and asked them not to go to the "reveal" because of her hair? She needs therapy.

I'm kinda with the poor lady.

I have really long hair and it is my shield. I'd feel awful if someone made me cut my hair.

Styling it, I can totally see. Adding or subtracting details (bangs, no bangs, flip, curl under, layers, etc.) but I would totally be NOT me if my hair went away.

I wonder if they talked to her about her hair before they cut it ans asked her what she really wanted.

This is the part that really stood out to me and made me shake my head. Her entire self-worth is tied to how men see her. How sad to be in your 50s and still think this way. And are the men in her life really that shallow that they will turn their backs on her because they don't like her haircut?

I wasn't crazy in love with what Nick did, but it certainly looked better than the bright brondle extensions she went back to.

It was just a sad episode. :sad2:

Yeah, the extensions she put in afterwards made her hair look HORRIBLE... even worse then it was before!!

And I totally could not believe she asked for no men to be at her big reveal... that just screams issues. :sad2:

My friend and I watch this show most Fridays (although we missed this week). Whenever the person flips out about cutting or changing their hair; my friends yells at the tv "It's just freaking hair. It will grow back".

I never understand women who go on this show and then reject everything they are told. If you don't want professional advice then step aside and let someone else have a shot.

I logically know that if someone butchered my hair it would eventually grow back, but I wouldn't leave the house until it did. My hair is *me* -- it is a crucial part of my identity, to me. Way more than my clothes or anything else. NOT that I would care what a man thought about it -- I just love my hair the way it is.

I completely agree with you, and that is why I would NEVER go on that show -- there's no way I would let Nick touch my hair. There have been few things he has done on that show that I have liked, hair-wise. But then, I think Kate Gosselin's hair looks like it was cut with a weedeater, and a lot of people seem to think she looks terribly stylish, so what do I know? :thumbsup2

Interesting. My 69 year-old Dad watched the show and told me about this woman. He thought that her hair looked better (and she looked younger) before the cut. He understood why she was upset, because he thought she looked older than her actual age with the short cut.

But, Dad can be pretty shallow when it comes to women, so... Personally, in the photos, I think she looks better with the short hair.
