If you know someone's name and the county they live it, many county assessor websites are free and online. I always look up people in news stories. And I've looked up where my doctors live. I'm a very nosy person. Voter registration lookup is also available in my state so I can see what party people are registered as. Though if it's a common name, there are often too many results.
I am very nosy too. I have newspapers.com and pay $150 a year for it. Worth every single penny. Goes back to the 1800s. It's also awesome for completing family trees.

The people who responded 0-10%....anyone want to challenge me to see if you can be found? I love a good challenge! 😁 (And if I'm able to find you, I can tell you how so you know what info you should delete about yourself.)

Pretty easy actually. That was part of my job. We didn't call it doxxing though. Any expectation people have today of privacy is not happening. Down to the most basic, somebody will recognize you and out you.

If you are concerned about how much information is out there about you, don't search your name on sites like FastPeopleSearch, spokeo, peoplefinders or Zabasearch (and several more)
You can ask them to remove your data and I have done so in the past. Last time I checked a few months ago my data was still removed.

Your local library probably has a subscription that you can log in for free.

Also Canadians privacy laws are way stronger than the US. You could never find anyone's mortgage or who owns property. That's not searchable. Also birth, marriage, and death records are not published (Varies by the province) for several decades past the event.

but you would have to have a picture to start the search and no other info and figure out their name :) (speaking of the viral video thing) it would be interesting to see your steps to do that, please share! haha

Nah, I can't do that. I meant if anyone here wanted to see if I could find ("doxx") them based on info they've given here.

I can't find someone just by their picture. I don't have access to private information like DMV records or anything like that. 😁

Yes. Back in the day, there were only one or two companies and you could write to them and tell the you were law enforcement and get removed. - which we did. Now, anyone can request it and through the websites.

Now there are so many and they are getting their data constantly from public records. I have removed myself from many/most but keep checking to make sure I don't pop back up.

I was thinking more along the lines of a viral video going online and people figuring out who it was based just on the images on the video.

yeah, I would want to know if someone could......I went with my answer because I think I know a lot of people.....or have known a lot of people from a lot of places.....so....more widespread haha

though, in the "not doing anything 'ridiculously videoable'" category, I doubt I could get doxxed because I hope I wouldn't act that bad in public :) maybe my answer should be zero hahahaha

I think those people are almost always identified by someone they know in the real world and then they just post in the comments on videos. I don't think people are really just seeing a picture/video and tracking them down, unless the person is wearing a shirt or something that identifies their work place/school.

My job, and my company, are kind of unique. I try to be careful about what I say on here because if someone really wanted to follow all the breadcrumbs they could probably figure out who I am (or at least get pretty close. That's also why I don't use an actual profile picture.

Well if you find me, I will be at the door offering you a rum and coke or beer out of my hubby's mancave/barn.

Retired 5 years ago. My personal website is gone and I can't find any remnants of it. But I am sure there are archived remnants 'out there'. I have no other online presence other than here on the DIS, so what can be derived from here is it. I think. I'll go 10-20%.
