What Not To Wear At Walt Disney World - Getting ready for the next one -Show on again

you sound like my husband. he loves to drink anything blue. i, on the other hand, won't because i feel like i'm drinking windex.

Hmmm, this is bringing back vague fuzzy memories of a college party where I actually drank a blue drink called Windex. It was served in tiny little spray bottles. :lmao: And it was delicious!

Great trip report!!!!

knew that song and he's gone

thanks for posting pics!!!!!

A drink that is blue and 32 ounces!!! Say it comes with a cherry and a glowing ice cube and I'm in heaven!!!!:cloud9:
My mum is a HUGE Neil Diamond fan - if she had been in the immediate area when 'your nemesis' insulted and blasphemed her 'husband' she would have bottled him....or more than likely got my dad to do it!
Keep up with the updates!!!

“Sweet Caroline” (which I threw in there because it certainly was not 80’s or 90’s), only I was saddened when during the “Bop bop baaaa” part of the song he insisted on singing “This song sucks”. Hpmh!

There mustn't have been any Red Sox fans in the house. This is a Sox game staple at Fenway and ANY die hard fan (which I'm actually, not, though I am surrounded by them) likely would've bumrushed the stage and beat him with his own tip jar.

We hopped on the DTD bus, then waited approximately 10 years for the WL bus

Really? ONLY ten years? Nice. :rotfl:

Today we slept in, finally getting going around 10 AM. And we were off to Animal Kingdom!
IMG_4954.jpg

We started off at the safari and had the best guide ever. We had the whole front row to ourselves and saw so many critters. Our guide’s name was Michael and he was very knowledgeable about the animals. He focused more on telling us about them then on the silly ‘Big Red’ storyline that I’ve heard 1000 times.
IMG_4958.jpg

Some obligatory safari pics:
IMG_4962.jpg

IMG_4981.jpg

IMG_4986.jpg

We were very puzzled by the ostrich eggs randomly laying by the side of the road. Jakkie thought they were fake.
IMG_5002.jpg

This is definitely the best shot I’ve ever gotten of one of the lions. Usually they are hiding way back under the tree.
IMG_5008.jpg

Heading off the ride, we spotted another princess-backpacked dad for our collection.
IMG_5010.jpg

Next up was a walk down the Pagani Trail, I think. I get fuzzy on all the different trail names.
IMG_5014.jpg

A picture of a bunny for Jakkie:
IMG_5026.jpg

We grabbed FPs for Expedition Everest, and then headed to lunch at a restaurant I was very excited about – Yak & Yeti.
IMG_5037.jpg

It definitely did not disappoint – one of the best WDW meals I have ever had! For drinks, Jakkie got Glacier Water (basically blue sprite, I think) and I had the Yak Attack (a mango-berry daiquiri)
IMG_5031.jpg

Jakkie ordered shrimp crisps and thai mussels, which she said were amazing. She also had the brownie sundae for dessert. I had the duck (sorry Donald n’ Daisy)
IMG_5034.jpg

And the dessert I had was fantastic too – the cream cheese and pineapple kabobs.
IMG_5036.jpg

Our server, whose name I have of course forgotten, was great too. (ETA: I just checked my receipt - it was Marc!)
I took a few pictures outside while we discussed how it may be unwise to use our fastpasses for EE immediately after eating a gigantic meal.
IMG_5038.jpg

IMG_5039.jpg

We paused by the big crazy monkey island thing (I clearly don’t know AK that well) and watched the monkeys for a short while.
IMG_5041.jpg

Then we headed onto EE. I loved it! I had only ridden it once before, and was so scared of the Yeti that I screwed my eyes shut and missed most of the ride.
I thought I managed to keep my eyes open for everything this time, but I still did not see the giant Yeti that is supposedly on the ride. Did I make up that there is one? How did I miss him? We checked out our ride picture, which was one of many where I am screaming my head of and Jakkie looks like she just walked out of a biology lecture. I don’t know how someone can imagine to look bored on a rollercoaster, but it was funny. We grabbed FPs for Kali River Rapids and decided to try to check out the Nemo musical. We were in the very last batch of people allowed into the theater and had to stand in the back, which was lousy. The view was pretty terrible and it was tough to stand for the whole time – Jakkie ended up sitting at the very top of the stairs for the latter half of the show. I really want to see this again when I have time to get there early and have a real seat. It was a great show, I really loved the hermit crab!
On the plus side, we caught this guy coming out of the theater.
IMG_5051.jpg

And now we were off to DINOLAND! As I like to call it. And on to Primeval Whirl, which I coaxed Jakkie on by telling her it was “spinny but very fluid.” I might have been somewhat stretching the truth about the fluid part.
IMG_5060.jpg

Jakkie got in line at the Dino Diner for a bottle of water so I took some pictures.
IMG_5054.jpg

IMG_5053.jpg

IMG_5057.jpg

There was a British family in line behind her and it was so hot out that the two little children were trying to climb into the biiiig ice bucket that holds all the drinks. The dad scolded them, so instead they took off their little baseball caps and filled them with ice, then stuck them back on their heads. They were pretty hilarious.
I was amused by the CM at this game booth.
IMG_5058.jpg

A little boy of about 10 won a game, so she grabbed a prize for him. For whatever reason she chose a bright pink stuffed dinosaur, and the kid was pretty unhappy. He yelled “I don’t want a pink one!! I want a green one!” The CM was offended that he didn’t want the pink dinosaur he picked out for him.
Heading out of DINOLAND….
IMG_5063.jpg

And on to Kali River Rapids, pausing to watch these guys for a bit. I always try to check out the performers at the park, it seems a lot of people just pass them by, and they are all so talented.
IMG_5065.jpg

I had extra appreciation for this group because I took steel drum lessons for one summer in 1993. Impressed, are you??

Coming up: Lions, hurricanes, and rum punch – oh my.

Another great update. I am getting such a kick out of all the dads that are stuck carrying the princess backpacks. It is so funny. I told my husband I am going to get the loudest girlie backpack for him to carry. :lmao:

We are thinking of trying Yak & Yeti during our trip. I'm glad to hear your meal was great.

I'm also thinking of trying EE this trip. My husband has done it by himself and thinks it is great. I told him that I might go on it this year with him. We will have to see how that turns out. :confused3

Thanks for the great update and I look forward to the rest. Have a good night. :goodvibes

you sound like my husband. he loves to drink anything blue. i, on the other hand, won't because i feel like i'm drinking windex.

i love weezer, too, by the way.

Ick windex...oh no, I hope I don't think about that next time I am offered a blue beverage
Weezer was my FAVORITE band when I was a youngin'...I am a card carrying member of the official Weezer fan club....somewhere I have a laminated fan club card from 1994, membership #312!

Great update. :thumbsup2 I have never been to Jellyrolls because we have little ones with us during the trip. They are 11 & 8 so maybe in 10 more years. :goodvibes

Can't wait for the next update. It sounds like you are having a wonderful time.

Thanks! Yes if you can get the chance to go to Jellyrolls someday, do it! I'm sorry I waited so long to check it out but it will be a definite stop on future trips.

LOVE it.

So, I've never really thought much about Jellyrolls before...but I'm thinking this might be a GREAT idea for DH and I to do. Sounds like so much fun!

I love blue drinks too!! HIGHFIVE!

MOREMORE!

Definitely check it out, it was so fun! And they really will try to play just about any song if they know it (even if they mock you....hmph!)

I literally gasped when I saw the second picture. My goodness gracious I must go to the Boardwalk. It also proves a point that you didn't even know about my light fixture obsession (unless my light obsession was being sent to you via mental telepathy)since we were in the world at the same time and you took pictures of lights too! It's so not so crazy afterall...right?

Haha the lights at the Boardwalk are amazing! You would love it there :) It's a fun area to wander around for a couple hours.

32 oz and blue-I like the way you think.

:rotfl: Thanks!

Jellyrolls sounds like so much fun!

I think I may have to add that to my itinerary!

I hope we get the good performers though. Sounds like you had a couple of grumps. I'm glad the good ones came back!

We still had fun with them ;) It's amazing how many songs these guys know. Definitely check it out!

My DH just came home with some Yeungling tonight...haven't tasted it yet but he liked it.From the name I thought it was a Japanese beer!

I don't like Yeungling, but I don't like beer in general! I had never even heard of it before I moved to PA. Did you like it?

Great report Kelly!

My BFF is also a Kelly and she looks sorta like you and I look sorta like Jakkie, except WE are about 20 yrs older than you! ANd now I'm all jealous that she and I never did a WDW trip together! Looks like you had a great time.

I'm looking forward to the rest!
Katy

Going to WDW with a like-minded friend was awesome! You and your friend should take a girls-only trip together if you can, it's so fun. I liked having the chance to show one of my best friends around my favorite place.

Great report and pics!
 Thank you!

I too am a fan of the blue drinks ;)

Splendid! I wish I had one right now (Mondays....blech.)

Great update!! I totaly wanna go to a piano bar with you and Jakkie some day!!

I want to try and find a dueling piano bar to go to around here! It was so much more fun then just a plain ol' single-pianist bar

Mmmm. That looks delicious right about now! Sounds like Jellyrolls was a lot of fun!
It really was fun, that's what I love about WDW. I always end up doing new things when I go there, no matter how many times I go.

Love the Jellyrolls update. That sounds so fun! You were cracking me up. :rotfl:
Thanks! We had a lot of fun there. Probably partially due to that 32-oz blue drink.

I just found your TR and I'm loving it! Thanks for sharing.

Please let me know when your WNTW episode is on again, I would love to catch it!

Thanks! I'll have to keep my eye out. I usually don't know it's going to be on, I just find out when someone calls to tell me that I am on tv :happytv:

Hmmm, this is bringing back vague fuzzy memories of a college party where I actually drank a blue drink called Windex. It was served in tiny little spray bottles. :lmao: And it was delicious!
Haha I love that idea! I wonder if Target carries little spray bottles :scratchin And I wonder if my friends would go for drinking out of them.

Subscribing! What a great trip report!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the info! I went into Jellyrolls really not knowing much about it. I tried to look up more info when I got back but Google was no help, so thanks for the link and for putting names to the faces! I cannot wait to go back.

Fun update!
I'd be right there with you on the blue drink. I once planned an entire party themed around Blue Hawaiians.

Oh I love that drink. Was your party a luau? I need to have a party based on my favorite drink, the malibu baybreeze

I love the glowing ice cubes! I wish that drink had come with some. I have a small collection in my kitchen drawer from various Sci-Fi Dine In beverages.
Yes I was sad about the mockery of my precious Sweet Caroline - I love that song, it even inspired me to vote for this dude over that other rocker dude.
(Not sure if you will know that being from overseas...but I like his version of the song!)

Hmmph! That's one of my favorite songs! You shoulda smacked him. ;)

Yes but then he definitely would not have played any of the other 205 songs I requested :rotfl:

can wait to read more!
Thanks! I just posted a new update and hopefully will get another one up this week. work is about to get super busy for me for the rest of the month....boo.

Really? I did not know that! What connection do the Sox have to Sweet Caroline? :scratchin I don't know much about baseball, but I am SURROUNDED by Phillies fans and they are all very happy right now!

Thanks! I think EE is worth trying - it's not as crazy as Splash Mountain/Space Mountain/Tower of Terror/Rock n' Roller Coaster, I think. Honestly for me the only scary part is that darn Yeti that I am too scared to look at!

And definitely try Yak & Yeti - it really exceeded my expectations and was so delicious. I am so glad to have a fantastic TS restaurant at AK now!

Who knew there were enough princess-backpacked dads out there for an entire collection?!? :confused3

What did you think of the Yak Attack?

I thought I managed to keep my eyes open for everything this time, but I still did not see the giant Yeti that is supposedly on the ride. Did I make up that there is one? How did I miss him?

Nope. You didn't make him up. He's in there. It's just that he's IN the mountain, it's dark, and you scream by, well, under him really, at like a bazillion miles an hour. He's easy to miss. I was looking for his eerie red eyes and that's how I saw him.

We checked out our ride picture, which was one of many where I am screaming my head of and Jakkie looks like she just walked out of a biology lecture.

:rotfl:

I am really debating about a Yak & Yeti ADR but I am just not sure. The food does look good though. I am sure Daisy & Donald will forgive you. ;)

I had extra appreciation for this group because I took steel drum lessons for one summer in 1993. Impressed, are you??

That's really neat! I love the sound of steel drums. Where was that band located? I can't remember ever seeing them before.

Ok, I'm definitely going to have to try Yak & Yeti next time (whenever that might be). I opted not to try it last time because the menu doesn't really appeal to my family full of picky eaters, but I really want to check out the ambiance and definitely that mango-berry daiquiri!! Last year at WDW I discovered I like mango drinks and I just can't find good ones anywhere else. Looks like you and Jakkie continued to have a wonderful time and I can't wait to see & hear about more of your adventures!

Great updates! Jellyrolls looks like so much fun - may have to try that sometime when I go to WDW with adults!

I really want to try Yak & Yeti now too - I've read lots of great reports lately - yum!

So how did Jakkie like Primeval Whirl? I took my mom on it last year and she freaked out screaming the whole time! :lmao:

Whew! All caught up! Great updates! :cool1:

We loved Yak & Yeti too! It was our best meal this summer! Yum!

Great updates!

Really? I did not know that! What connection do the Sox have to Sweet Caroline? :scratchin I don't know much about baseball, but I am SURROUNDED by Phillies fans and they are all very happy right now!
I don't know how it started but they play "Sweet Caroline" at the end of the 8th inning at all the home games. Its great fun. They put the words on the scoreboard and the crowd sings along. Its become one of the Red Sox theme songs now. Can you tell by my avatar that I'm a fan?
