HI This is are first trip since 98 and the first trip with a five and 2 1/2 year old. So I was wondering. What rides or shows should we not skip? Also I heard that the Bug's life show is scary for little kids. Should we skip it? (My 5 year old daughter is scared of lady bugs so if there are lady bugs in the show please let me know)

GillieRose - Trust me, ladybugs are the least of your worries in It's Tough to be a Bug!!! DON'T take your 5 year old if she is the least bit squeamish or scared of bugs. Although it's a wonderful show, my DD FREAKED OUT when she was about 8 or 9 during this show - all of the effects were overwhelming for her. The Safari, The Festival of the Lion King, maybe the Primeval Whirl or Triceratop Spin in Dinoland, the Boneyard playground, Pocohontas, Wings of Flight and Tarzan shows -all fine for little ones, as well as the parade ond lots of character greeting. But BUG - no way. I'll let others tell you about the other parks. Have a wonderful trip!!!!

If your DDs do not like bugs then I suggest not going to "It's Tough to be a Bug!" because my 8 year old sister went to that 3-D movie and she was so terrified. The rides that you should not skip are the rides in Fantasyland but Snow White's Scary Adventures is an exception if your kids are scared easily but my 3 y/o sister went on it and she was fine. You should also not skip Fantasmic, Wishes, and Spectromagic. Also if your kids like Lilo and Stitch then you should take them on Stitch's Great Escape!, it's a very nice ride and you find the description of the ride on the official Disneyworld website. I hope I helped!

I would recommend these following rides/shows:

Festival of the Lion King (absolutley awesome)
Dumbo, Pooh Ride, Alladin ride, Peter Pan's Flight, It's a Small World
Go to Toontown - you can go into Mickey and Minnie's house.
Spectromagic and Wishes
Figment ride in Epcot (my kids love this)
Mickey's Phillharmagic show (3-d show)
Muppet's 3-d show in Epcot (one of our all time favorites)
The Little Mermaid show (unless you think Ursula would scare your children - some kids get frightened by Ursula)
Playhouses Disney show in MGM if they are into Bear in the Big Blue House, etc..

I hope that helps. Have an awesome trip!!!

No, no, no to Stitch if you have a little who scares easily - a shoulder harness device coming down over your shoulders, some complete darkness, loud noises, etc. This is the old "Alien Encounter" ride overlaid with a Stitch theme, but parts of it are still VERY INTENSE. Anyone else have a 5 year old who liked it? - maybe you can give another perspective, but I see this one scaring more and more kids.

We just got back with our 4 and 5 1/2 year olds. The 3D movie-Philharmonic scared both my girls with all the effects. We only lasted in there about 3 minutes as the younger one was terrified and crying(didn't want to ruin it for everyone else) Even the 5 year old was scared with the water squirting and stuff flying at us. Maybe without the glasses on it may have been better.

They absolutely loved Goofy's Barnstormer, The tea cups, Minnie and Mickey's houses, Alladin's magic carpets.

We spent one day at Magic Kingdom from 9-7. The best thing we did was bring a change of clothes and about 130 the kids played around at Donald's Boat and got drenched but had an absolute blast. They needed a refresher and after about an hour we changed them in the bathrooms into their dry clothes and hopped on the train that is right there and headed to the front of the park and caught the parade which was awesome. We didn't really want to see it but am so glad we did. We left before the fireworks at night as neither of our kids likes fireworks. After getting wet at Donald's Boat they were totally refreshed and ready for a few more hours. I highly recommend it.

We also just let the kids lead us as to what they wanted to do. We never waited more than 10 minutes for a ride and rode lots of rides over and over.

The most important thing at that age is just have fun.

It's Tough to be a Bug has giant spiders that hang over your head from the ceiling and HARD points that jab into your back as "bees" sting you. I would say skip it.

Must sees .... there are too many! Hmm...I would say at MK do It's a Small World, Peter Pan, Pooh, and Philharmagic in Fantasyland if you can; Hang out in Toontown and see the character's houses, Buzz Lightyear would probably be fun in Tomorrowland. At Epcot, do Figment, Living with Land, Ellen's Energy Adventure if the kids like dinosaurs, the Living Seas and Turtle Talk with Crush, and El Rio Del Tiempo in Mexico is nice. MGM ABSOLUTELY go to the Beauty and the Beast show and Little Mermaid show. The Muppet 3-D show is cute and kid-friendly too. And at AK, whatever you think your family would enjoy...we don't do much at AK. The safari is cool, DinoLand is cool...that's about it for us.
