What NOT to do during the anthem..

That being said, I've worked with Europeans. One asked me as an American, why is the national anthem played before any routine athletic contest. It seemed rather bizarre to them. They told me that perhaps it would be used for international competition, but not as something routine between two domestic teams.

Just as well that he didn't spend time in Canada in the good old days. I remember as a child in the 50s that not only did sports games begin with the anthem, so did every movie. Yes, theatres played O Canada before the previews, cartoon and short serial, they also played God Save the Queen at the end of the movie.

This guy from the Tenors was way out of line. And now he can live with the consequences. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

See, I love the American anthem. I know it by heart and usually sing it every time I hear it. I learned it watching hockey lol

I learned the Canadian anthem from watching hockey and know the first verse by heart. The guy who used to sing it (half in French, half in English) at the old Montreal Forum was excellent.
