What non sad things sadden you?

What the Japanese call Mono No Aware, the transience of things. Especially in terms of subtle yet beautiful moments that occur but may never happen again. Things like a stunning sunset at the end of a great day, something you have to really enjoy in that moment, because you won't always get another chance to. With that may come a mild degree of sadness.

Walking through WalMart in late August and seeing all the school supplies and little lunch boxes and whatnot, or sometimes in the kid's clothes section. It makes me nostalgic for my DS's little years and I often mist up. :sad1: Lots of my friends also confess to having these "WalMart moments".

Walmart didn't open here until 1992. Bought my kids school supplies there that year. 200 pack of pencils for like $2, wide ruled binder paper, binders, etc. 30 years later, I think I still have 100 pencils left, a half a pack of wide ruled binder paper......and Lord knows what else.
I take it school doesn't open where you live still until September. About 20 years ago they shifted the start of school to the second week of August here, so that at Junior High and High School level finals week is now before Christmas break instead of after. By late August here, the school stuff is gone and the Halloween stuff is out at Walmart.

Leaving to go home after a great vacation. (I mean, home is great, too, but we also wish we had a few more days to stay!)

I do this in WDW all the time. Walking towards the lobby with our luggage and seeing other people walking towards the hotel rooms with their luggage always gets me.

Sometimes songs come on the radio that aren't even sad but remind me of someone I've lost or a memory (even a good memory) will make me a bit misty. There's a song by Three Dog Night called The Show Must Go On that does this to me. It has circus music in it, and my sister and I used to dance around to that part when we were little. It makes me think of how innocent and unencumbered we were then and how we have all of these adult worries and responsibilities now.

Walking past the little girls clothes section - it makes me sad how fast time went by and that my girls aren’t little anymore.

Seeing a German Shepherd - it makes me think of mine & DH’s first dog - he was awesome and died at 5yrs old from from Lymphoma

When I am out shopping and the next Holiday or event is already out and in full swing before we event celebrated the season we are currently in (Christmas the last week of October or back to school displays in June) I hate how our time seems so rushed and it feels like we are not supposed to enjoy the moment.

I make it a point now to enjoy everything to the fullest and not rush!

My daughter has been selling/donating a lot of stuff she no longer needs (toys, tween items, etc.). On one hand I am glad she isn't hoarding, but the other side has me sad. When she donated her kids games I was a teary eyed thinking of all the fun we used to have playing them together. I mean, who gets misty eyed over Hello Kitty Bingo? 🙋‍♀️ ... me!

That's beautiful to share thank you
