What night is DVC Family Night?

Not sure if they still have this or not or if it was just a one time thing. (We've only used our points once back in '06.) Anyhow, on Thursday night they had a Welcome members party at Downtown Disney. Is this still offered and is it usually on Thurs.? We will plan accordingly since that was a nice "free" night out.

They had a DVC member summer block party late July/August for a few years. Last year, it was replaced by "Summer on the Savanna" - a member party outside of EPCOT.

They have not announced what they're doing this year - but I'd expect something during that timeframe.

Maybe it was called the Welcome Home night. It was in Aug. '06 at Downtown Disney at Pleasure Island around 6 or 7 pm on Thursday night. They had free treats, popcorn, Mickey Bars, juice, tatoos for the kids, a DJ, stilt walkers, we got a bunch of little DVC goodies, and they had drawings for prizes. It was fun! If we were planning on coming back that night, we could get our hand stamped and get in for free I believe. We didn't because of our little one.

Oh darn it. It's just in the summer? We're heading down in May. My dd20mos at the time, still talks about her ladybug tatoo and spilling a melting Mickey Bar down her shirt! We had to buy her a new shirt at DTD. I think she probably just remembers us telling her the story everytime she wears the shirt.

Welcome Home Wednesdays
Welcome Home Wednesdays is the newest Member event at the Walt Disney World® Resort. These interactive gatherings take place on most Wednesdays* at 4:00 p.m. inside Atlantic Dance Hall at Disney's BoardWalk entertainment district. They present Members and their family and friends with the latest Disney Vacation Club scoops and exciting updates - through a high-energy, interactive game show. Deevy See, a beloved diva at many Member events, is among the zany cast of characters who may be the game show's surprise host on any given date.

Members and their family and friends enjoy light refreshments while testing their knowledge in a variety of Disney categories, including Home Resorts, Perks, "Where in the World?," and the ever popular "Mousellaneous."

Oh, that would be perfect if it is on Weds. because we are flying in that day and I didn't really want to go to any of the parks that day. Just spend it swimming and then hit DTD. Where did you get that info?

The summer parties have a DJ, free facepainting, games, characters, free hats (it was flashing pins at the block party), free mickey ice cream, drinks, popcorn. The block party gave you free admission to PI for the evening (an awesome perk). Summer on the Savanna did not give you PI admission, but there were lots of Disney characters and the really fancy face-painting was free.

We thought the Welcome Home Wednesdays were an okay way to spend a rainy hour - but the block party was the highlight of my kid's trip the year we went.

Thanks for the info. Yes, your description of the summer party is what we did. Lots of fun for a free night out. Maybe I'll call DVC and get the scoop.

I did the Welcome Home Wed night things back in September and thought it was a bit of a waste of time. The Summer block party sounds like a blast! Maybe they'll bring that back between now and my next trip in June!

Found the info on the DVC website, that pretty much was all they had to say, nothing about summer block parties. We may check it out, Wednesday will be our first day there so we'll see.

We too all loved the block party 2 years ago. I hope they repeat that this summer....we had a super time! A definite 10 out of 10!

The welcome home Wednesdays was just ho hum....about a 4 out of 10.
