Well I certainly hope it tastes better than it looks - yuck!
Exactly what I thought, was lookng forward to trying this, not sure now. :rotfl2:

BISCUITS!!! I look forward to biscuits so much

also the buttermilk pancakes at ihop,i could eat loads of them.
Mum loves fruit loops,we did bring some home but she said they don't taste the same when you eat them here!

We like the sliced bread (crazy I know), but it tastes quite sweet and whilst not great for sandwiches it is for toast.
'Butterbread' I think it is called.

Also, like Chick-Fil-A the chicken nuggets are very nice, the waffle fries are different too.
And at KFC, the chicken is much better than in the UK plus you get potato wedges which are also a favourite of ours.

Lay's crisps are also recommended.

Do you like onion rings (that is the closest you will get to bloomin onion)? If you do, then you will like it. If you don't, then I wouldn't bother.

The pot in the middle is a slightly tangy dipping sauce.

Corn muffins.

These are incredibly simple to make. I was missing corn bread here when I first moved from the states. You can get corn meal in Holland & Barrets if you can't get it at your supermarket.

Not sure where you got them. One difference between the North and South in the US is up North we have them sweeter than they do down South.

Here is a simple recipe

Corn Muffins Recipe

4 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons sugar
1 egg (beaten)
1 cup corn meal
1 cup plain flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/4 cup milk

Cream together butter and sugar.
Stir in remaining ingredients.
Blend well.
Spoon into buttered muffin tin. (one dozen muffins)
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes at 375ºF (190ºC)

I am really enjoying this thread. :)

Definitely a SHARING starter... quite easily 4 people really. Husband and I share one between us (cos there are only two of us), BUT we don't finish it - it is too much for two...

Outback are a chain - there are LOADS all over the US... http://www.outback.com/

There are also some in the UK - http://www.outbackpom.com/index.cfm - but have never been to one over here.

Boo

thanks Boo, will check out the locations as soon as their site is back up (8AM EST) and def make time to eat there - maybe we could just have a starter and dessert - yum yum

Pink lemonade, biscuits and gravy, bloomin onion,

My kids loved the Pink lemonade and can't wait to try it again!

I still can't get my head around the biscuits and gravy thing. Why on earth are those cake things called biscuits?! lol

Cinnamon was not new to me of course, but my God the concept of putting it on EVERYTHING was new to me. By the end of the trip I was almost in tears if I yet again got that distinct flavour of cinnamon from my coffee/dessert etc. Make it stop please! :worship: It was the same in New York though - cinnamon, cinnamon, cinnamon...

Why do you guys call cookies and crackers biscuits? :teeth:

When I first moved here there were so many things I had to learn new names for. We have a very long running debate in my house about American muffins and quick bread (muffins in a loaf pan) being cake as my Brit DH insists. That doesn't stop him from eating them for breakfast though. :lmao:

:lmao: I think the word Cookie has definitely crept in here now. I like it! That's a good word. lol!!

My boys went through a phase of calling sweets 'candy', that's when I knew they were watching too much TV!!! :teeth:
