I've noticed on the Michael Jackson thread that quite a few people grew up listening to his music. I never listened to him when I was younger so I was wonder what music did you grow up listening to?

When I was younger my Dad would always play songs from the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Van Halen. My dad used to be in a band and I remember listening to him play a bunch of songs by the Beatles. Then when I was around 10 I started to listen to Nysnc and Backstreet Boys. I grew out of that though.

My parents aren't really big fans of music so I never grew up listening to certain bands that they played. I used to listen to whatever my friends were listening to. That was Westlife, Steps, Hearsay, Atomic Kitten etc:rolleyes1

Michael Jackson's Dangerous album, Madonna's Immaculate Collection!!!
Also The Monkees, The Partridge Family & The Archies. I grew up on those bands (even though they were way before my time lol)

Garth Brooks, George Strait, Clint Black, Martina McBride.

I grew up on the classics of country music.

Hm. My mom likes country, and my dad likes (well, he calls it 'doowop', it's like The Temptations, etc). But they aren't HUGE on music, so when I was a kid it was Barney songs til I was about 7. That's when I started asking for Britney Spears, Mandy Moore, 98 Degrees, N'Sync, Backstreet Boys, Christina Aguilera, etc. It's what my cousins listened to, so yeah.

I thought I was so cool walking around with my CD player singing along to 'Genie in a Bottle'. :)

As for music playing around my house,
My mom is a big Backstreet Boys fan so I listened to a lot of Backstreet Boys growing up.
I also remember back in the day when I was really young we had I Dont Want To Miss A Thing by Aerosmith on a cassette tape( remember those) that we'd play in the car countless times.

then as most kids back then did, listened to The Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, N'Sync, Aaron Carter, etc.

Led Zeppelin, The Honeydrippers, etc. Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Clash, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Deep Purple, Janis Joplin, Cream, The Doors, The Who, Supertramp, pretty much all the good stuff.

Celine Dion, Jewel, Alanis Morrisette, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan.
Those were all from my parents.

Then I got into Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Dream, all the 90's/early 00's pop music.

When I was younger, I listened to alot of stuff from the mid-late 80s to the early 90s. Lots of Michael Jackson (he's listed in my baby book as my favorite performer, aww!), Madonna, and Duran Duran. My mom was big into disco/techno (still is) so we'd have Supertramp or SNAP or LaBouche playing. And, whatever was on the radio which was Alanis Morrisette.

Then around 7 or 8 I started going for NSYNC (never, ever BSB!), Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Aaron Carter, A*Teens, etc.

alot of classic country, 80s, and a lot of 90s. my grandma listens to oldies, so beatles, abba, beach boys and 50s-70s too.

i guess i grew up listening to everything.

the common nsync, britney spears stuff.
quite a bit of country.
80's hair bands.

James Taylor was played a lot in my house so i was sort of forced to grow up with that.

But my choices for music were like most people of that time- Britney Spears, N'Sync, Aaron Carter, A*Teens, etc.

Musicals (show tunes) mostly, also Norah Jones, No Doubt, Backstreet Boys, NSync, Barenaked Ladies, Allison Kraus, Kelly Clarkson later

Ohhh I was such a 90's child.

A little Spice Girls, a lot of Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, NSYNC (obsessed), Britney Spears (double obsessed).

Oh, and Mary Kate and Ashley. Obsession with their videos, too.

A*Teens, Aaron Carter...heh.

90's child, as I said.

i grew up on simon & garfunkel, The Beatles (who i think are still awesome) and lots of other oldies bands
