Hi all,

I was reading the post about the chanting teen groups, I would like to avoid staying at Disney when these groups frequent, what months are to be avoided if I would like to avoid being at Disney with these large teen groups? (After reading some posts of people who had small kids shoved out of the way/knocked down by these large groups of teens, I would like to avoid going to Disney during these times. The chanting would annoy me, but its the shoving/pushing others out of the way, cutting in front of you or having my child knocked down that would be intolerable to me as a paying guest.)

Thanks for any feedback!.

We were there last week and there were many of them although we had no issues with them. Did hear them singing occasionally but they seemed to be having a good time. We were happy to not have the horror stories happen to us personally.

all months.
most notably i recall september and december.
oh dear god december 2013 was awfull.
we were waiting for illuminations and they just would not stop with the chanting!
in september i found they were a bit too "friendly" if you know what i mean. one girl was LITERALLY sitting on one of my legs on kilimajaro safari because they insisted they could fit even tough the CM told them to wait.

We had to recently close thread on this subject. i know they can be annoying, impolite and rude. So if you bad or good experience ,please feel free to relate your experience. Please leave out references to nationality out of your posts. Be respectful to other posters.I have had both good and bad encounters with tour groups. I don't let them spoil my vacation. You can report behavior to CM and ask for a member of management and express your feelings. Also write a letter to Guest Relations and let them know you will take your vacation dollars elsewhere if they can't do better job of controlling these groups. Thanks Danny

They are there during their school breaks. January, February and July. Of course they could show up at any time but that would be their main breaks where they come with tour groups.

The "prime" times for South American Tour groups are late June/July/Early August(their Winter school break) and January/early February(their Summer school break).:)

For those unfamiliar with these groups, the vast majority are girls celebrating their 15th Birthday, hence they are commonly referred to as "The Fifteens".:)

There was even a group with "The Fifteens" on their backpacks this year.:)

They were there in droves earlier this week. I will freely admit that I previously thought people were exaggerating when they discussed their experiences with them.

I formally and publicly apologize to all those whom I did not believe.
Ariel,

You have me curious, how bad was your experience?

It's seems like every month you can catch a group from some country.

We go about once a month and frequently see the groups from all over. Haven't really ever had a bad experience with them even though their made out to be some blood thirsty screaming banshees lol. I've seen one or two groups singing which is annoying, but have never witnessed anything more rude than that.

So I really don't think it matters when you go, you'll likely see a group. I would imagine they would be more frequent during the summer months though.

But really, I wouldn't be worried at all about them.

I agree with this. In early summer I have seen the groups from Brazil that sing, while in the Fall you will encounter the cheerleading groups from all over that will break out into cheers in line or just walking around the parks.

Never really had a problem with any of them... can the big loud groups be annoying YES, does it affect my trip NO. I figure I was a that loud annoying teenager at some point in my past also :D

Ariel,

First of all, I've never before traveled at a time when they were there, so this was my first experience with them. I was surprised at how *many* groups there were - in each park, there were about 8-10 groups of about 50, each with their own little color-coded flag. They were in all four parks, but seemed more plentiful in Epcot and MK.

For the record, there were several of these groups that appeared polite, respectful, and courteous. Yes, they were having fun, but they were not negatively impacting other guests in any way...just happy kids. :) Our first park this trip was in MGM (it will always be MGM to me), and we had absolutely NO problems with them in this park. We ended up in the pre-show room of ToT with one group, and I was prepared for chaos, but they didn't make a peep. So I was very smugly thinking to myself, "see, I knew people on the DIS were exaggerating." Ha.

Over the next few days, we encountered them everywhere. There were still "good" groups, but there were other groups that screamed/chanted, pushed/shoved, cut in line, talked/texted during stage shows, and formed giant "chains" by linking their arms whenever they went through the parks. One particular group had a big yellow blow-up hammer-shaped thing instead of a flag (weird). One of the kids had commandeered it from the leader and was chasing her friends around and whacking them with it. Not a big deal, except that she did this in a very crowded area by the hub, and was not concerned with other guests who were caught in the crossfire. (A very irate dad finally snatched it from her after his toddler was bopped with it - she just giggled and ran off.)

We avoided them when we could, but this was not always possible. Did it ruin our trip? Absolutely not - we still had a great time. But did these groups make it more challenging to have a good experience? Absolutely.

We have seen them most frequently when we travel at the end of January. Many groups will march down Main Street at MK in a huge mass, chanting as they go. But other then that performance, they don't bother us too much.

Folks no nationality has the preserve of being the rudest. Many teens going on a vacation without parents whether it be cheerleader groups or foreign climes are understandably going to enjoy the extended freedom.

Consequently any references to nationality will have posts deleted as this topic is a hot button subject. It is unfair to castigate everyone rather than the few.

Please therefore be respectful and make you comments without guessing the nationality :)

I am long time high school teacher. I can tell you that when ever you have 10 or more teenagers in a group out of their parents reach, they feel and act invincible. It doesn't matter what country they are from. The best thing to do is break them into smaller groups.

I went this past February during the last week. Saw just one experience of these groups. I think by the end of February the are leaving out.

I was just there last week and saw lots of groups with a variety of languages on their matching T shirts. I actually thought that WDW must have taken these groups into hand better than in past years as I didn't see any particularly rude behavior. We even stayed at Pop where a number of them were staying and didn't hear a peep out of them. It was a pleasant surprise.

Most recently, I have gone 2nd week Jan, first week Feb, last week April, first week May, last week Sept, third week Oct and not had any issues. My trip in January had the most foreigns visitors but the only issue was that I rarely heard english and I enjoy interacting with other guests. One CM told me, when I asked about this issue, that WDW had really cracked down and to expect better behavior in the future. I do believe that guests as a whole need to stand up for what is right. I love the DISer who saw the locked arm line and braced himself like a linebacker and many of them went flying instead of the kids that had been knocked down two minutes prior.

Are you serious? The "issue" was that they didn't speak English? Other people do not exist to enhance your experience.

What do you think Disney should do - require certificates of ESL proficiency before allowing foreign visitors into the park?

The poor CM just had to think of something to say.

OP,

You need to attend sensitivity training. Your post is extremely offensive.

You have singled out teens... an example of overt age-ism.

Why have you specified "LARGE" groups? Your bias against Pooh-sized people has no place in civil discourse. Oh... you meant the number of people in the group? That's still offensive. Why discriminate against small groups? They can be just as loud. There's no need to insult the lack of enthusiasm of smaller groups by implying that only large groups are capable of shouting loudly.

Next, let's address your use of the term "chanting." Comparing these groups' annoying singing and shouting with chanting could be offensive to Tibetan monks. You've diminished an entire religion's meditative techniques by equating it to rude behavior.

You also shouldn't judge people just because they shove a child to the ground. They might have an invisible condition that causes them to shove children. You don't know anything about them.

Finally, why do you feel it's necessary to single out "paying" guests. Do guests using COMP tickets have less right to be annoyed? The behavior is intolerable regardless of your financial status. Some people can't even afford to go to WDW. You should just be thankful that you're lucky enough to be at Disney.
