What month did you get married?

We were married in September over the Labor day weekend. We knew Dh's family would be coming from Kansas City and wanted to give them extra time here. I originally wanted to be married in June. June had always been my dream but I also wanted my niece to be a bridesmaid. Her bio father wouldn't budge in allowing her an extra weekend here before she went to spend the summer with him. So we were married September after she returned.

We got engaged Memorial Day Weekend of 2003, and wanted a Saturday June 2004 wedding around the Vernal Equinox. I love the sunlight of summer, but all the places were booked for that weekend. Then we decided July the weekend after the 4th. Worked out perfectly, and the weather was great.

I wanted to keep the gift giving occassions separate, plus we both don't like Summer heat. So that left out the Summer, most of the Fall (my bday), December, and February. So, we got married in April.

I grew up with a mom whose birthday is on a holiday. She always hated it because her day was combined with the celebration. So from that, I knew I would never get married near any other holiday or our birthdays.

June 21, 1986. We had started dating Dec. 22, 1980 but had no desire to have a winter wedding! Since I teach June was a good choice, and since the 21st was a Saturday and 1 day short of our 5 1/2 year anniversary dating, we picked that. Plus the "first day of summer/longest day of the year" makes it easy for DH to remember. 20 years next year!

December - 2 weeks before Christmas and on my Mom's birthday.

And since it's Pennsylvania, we go the bonus of a snowstorm on the wedding date and about 100 out-of-town/state guests couldn't make it. Plus, it got so bad that we had to cancel our honeymoon as the roads were horrendous.

January 6th. Yes, I know the middle of the winter, but we got married in Arkansas. It was 60 degrees that day. We picked Jan. b/c 3 of our parents are teachers and we had to make a date work with school schedules for them and me (I was still in school, too)

DH had a friend visiting and he decided we should get married while they were here. It was on the spur of the moment, decided at 1:00 am, I went to work that day and after I got off at 4:00 pm, we went to the justice of the peace and got married.

It was hotter than heck that day. Would have preferred a December wedding.

October 16th--just celebrated our 13th anniversary. DH said how about fall and as we were gettting married in the chapel at the college I had graduated from we called them and that was all they had.

Chose that month because DH was in the military and before they moved me out in June we had to be husband and wife! So he came home in April and we were married in May.

May 21. My favorite month, my favorite number, and husband was easily agreeable to it. It's also my sister's birthday. And it just happened to be Armed Forces Day!

April -- because it was the weekend after Easter in 1994. We knew that there would be hundreds of flowers adorning the altar... more than we could have afforded.

Plus, the date was a palindrome... 4/9/94.
