What Moment gives You 'Goosebumps'??

There are many "goosebump moments" for me. The first comes when driving under the entering Disney signs. Then, there is the first time seeing the castle and space ship earth. There is the constant smile of my son's face. Also, the "true colors" pre-show, the American experience, and the Hall of Presidents. Almost too many to mention.

After all my trips to WDW, I still get goosebumps..........maybe that's what keeps us all going back:D

I get goosebumps the first time I see the Castle. Its like time stands still - and you see your life (in WDW terms that is) from the first time visited as a child...then a teen.....young adult.....and so on. For a split second you are that child again. You may change, loved ones may not be here anymore, WDW holds many happy memories..............and the castle is always there as an icon holding the same kind of memories for a countless number of people. It is Magical for all of us and the emotion from all the people from all these years can be felt as you walk down Main Street. It only makes sense as it is a right of passage of sorts. Parents take their children, couples get engaged, get married, go on their honeymoon, those couples take their children, sadly some make it a last family vacation as it may be someone's wish to visit for the last time. All these events go on in WDW everyday......and the Castle is witness to it all.

In all my travels I can't think of another place that holds so much for so many for basically all the same reasons. Remarkable:D

*I love the True Colors song too! It always gets me!

*American Vybe, Rick singing America the Beautiful, it gives me the chills.

*Off Kilter singing When the Roving Dies Hard

*Anytime I hear When you Wish Upon A Star

*The smell of the Polynesian

After countless visits and even being a CM for awhile, it is cool that somethings still get to you!

Taxiing down the runway at MCO, and seeing the palm trees and monorail. We're really here!

The Sign

Walking along the pathways of the Polynesian (even when I'm not staying there).

Main Street -- more than anything else it brings back the impossible childhood dream of going to Disneyland. (I've still not been there!)

Illuminations Music

The "Beauty and the Beast" song after the show. I can't leave the theatre until it's finished. It's just as well that everyelse else has, because I go to pieces.

The film montage at the end of Great Movie Ride

The top of Spaceship Earth (and I keep wishing they would use it for the wonderful planetarium that it is!)

"Circle of Life" song at the beginning of the Lion King show.

The film at One Man's Dream

What gives me goosbumps is, just thinking about the time I will get to spend with my family while at WDW. Other things that give me goosebumps are:

1. I don't know if any of you have expericenced this when flying Delta:
- While flying to Orlando, the moment the landing gear touches the ground at MCO and to hear everyone cheer because we have arrived is magic to my ears. I have NEVER been on a flight where people did not cheer when we landed in MCO.

2. Seeing the Welcome to WDW sign from the highway

3. Arriving at our resort

4. Walking down Main Street and seeing the castle

5. Just typing what gives me goosebumps and causing me to think about our upcoming trip is making me spaz out !!!

Many for me also, I'll cast my vote for the "goosebumps" I get first......driving under the sign!

I don't know if I can call this goosebumps so much as a sense of aw shucks and excitment.

Whenever we come through the walkway under the train station and we're on Main Street, and we see the vendors selling balloons and we smell something good in the air and the music is playing old, familiar tunes; and maybe even Mickey's there to greet you, or Goofy, or Tigger, that's the moment that I save my money for. It's like going home. It feels just like it did when I first walked that street 30+ years ago. My parents moved around a lot and indeed I've moved quite a bit so no place feels so familiar. The Magic Kingdom always feels like home. Even though they've changed it some; it's still the same. Comfortable, familiar, welcoming and awesome.

That feeling of being home, that gives me goosebumps, so to speak.

My DD6 and I are HUGE Tink fans. We wait anxiously before the Fantasy In The Sky. MY eyes tear up every time I hear The Second Star to the Right. We were both surprised when DD1 started to shout Tink, Tink, and point to the top of the castle where she had appeared. I have a feeling this is her favorite time also! Just looking at my family's happy faces as they are watching the sky always makes me tear up.

The Moment that gives me 'goosebumps' is just before the start of the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom when the lights dim and the music plays. It is always the most magical time of my visit. What is yours?

This is mine also. I really thought since I would sit here in tears just reading these boards before we went that I would be a basketcase the minute we showed up. I did very well though. I did get very anxious but the moment that sent me over the edge was when the lights dimmed and the announcement came on just before the fireworks. I stood there with tears pouring down my face and a huge lump in my throat watching it. We were right in front of the train station facing the castle head on. I even got to see a glimpse of Tinkerbell as she flew down the side. I will never ever forget that feeling and hope that I feel that way every time I return! (I'm all choked up now, just writing about it) My mom is 55 and I hope to take her next spring for her first ever trip to WDW. I can't wait to see her reaction!

and that is parades:bounce: I get the tears and lump in the throat over those!!!

another thing that does it for me is after were home and watching the videos espiecally when the kids were younger!

I was off today and watched a video of our trip in 1996!!!

the kids were DS 14 and DD 10!!!!

I watched as they horsed around in the pool at the CBR with tears filling my eyes!!! I realezed how fast they grew up!!!
My DS just graduated from the Milwaukee Police Academy and now is an officer on the streets!!!

DD is in her first year of nursing school!!!

I get goosebumps every time I watch one of our vacation tapes

I need to dry the eyes!!!!

;)

I have to agree with one of the above posters. I thought my family and I were weird for this, but we LOVE the smell of the Polynesian. Every trip, regardless whether I am with my parents, I stop at the Polynesian, and go inside and smell. It was the first resort we ever stayed at and it always touches me to go inside the Great Ceremonial House.

Some other 'Goosebump' moments:
--Getting on the monorail the first time for the trip
--Illuminations
--Seeing childrens faces light up and you know that this was thier first trip
--Seeing Kermit (he's my favorite)
--the True Colors song
--Getting off the plane in MCO and feeling that Florida air
--Knowing that I am in the happiest place on Earth

Have got to agree with the Main Street addicts but what really turns us into blubbering wrecks is the moment in Fantasmic when the Paddle Steamer with all the dancing characters comes around the bend towards the end of the show. :) We saw Fantasmic for the first time in 1997 at Anaheim and a good few times since and this scene has never failed to leave us with the lump in the throat and tears in the eyes.......AND WE'RE GOING TO SEE IT AGAIN NEXT WEEK (soon time to break out another box of tissues)

BB:earsgirl: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

My newest goosbumps moment will be this weekend. My husband and I are buying our daughter her first pair of Mickey ears. Our daughter isn't due until September 4th but now that we have her name picked out, Hannah, we are going to buy the pink little infant ones with her name on it. I know that I will have tears in my eyes as we get them made. And I am sure that DH will too!
Suzy, Ed and Hannah.

Last October we took the kids for the first time. When my DS who was two at the time, rode Winnie the Pooh, he waved at Pooh and said, "Hey Pooh! It's me Jackson!" He was so excited. After the ride my daughters hugged him and said how happy they were that he saw Pooh. That trip they did not argue once. They were all so happy. Countless times I looked at them and thought, "I am so in love with my family." Disney is just such a magical, wonderful place.

Then the tears began to roll as we headed for home and they fought over a bag of chips..........

This is so much fun to read as I will be feeling the aforementioned goosebumps soon (look at my countdown clock for July 5th....ooohhhmmyygosh!! :earseek: )

Anywho, I've got some no one else has mentioned:

-Once on property, ducking to look out car window to see top of ToT or SE or even Space Mtn. sometimes and subsequently freaking out even more (in a good way!) that we're there!

-Checking in at OKW (our home resort as DVC members and where we typically stay) and the smell of the wood floor in the lobby there and hearing the island music -- OR, entering the lobby of wherever else we're staying (like WL or BW) and letting your eyes adjust to the light in the lobby and....WOW - GOOSEBUMPS!!

-Watching Resort TV for the "Zip-A-Dee-Do-Da Tip for Today medley, like someone else said, but also to watch the commercials for each park even though I've seen them all umpteen times

-Waking up in one of the resorts and suddenly realizing where you are and what you're going to do today!!

-Stepping outside of our room (or right outside at OKW), all packed and rarin' to go w/all the family - so much excitement!

-Getting out of car in one of the Parks' parking lots and practically skipping, a la "Follow the Yellow Brick Road," to the tram or front gate (the walk BACK to the car, however, always seems to take FOREVER...)

-Hearing the 20's, 30's music in the gardens outside ToT while waiting in line (and all the mist and creepiness, too)

-Posing for the obligatory photos for parents or family right outside "The Big Ball" at Epcot, standing on the ledges around the flowers

-Going into Sci-Fi the first time for each trip, and hearing all the waiters/waitresses yell "Lookout! Aaahh!!" at the clip of the growing man (similar the 50ft tall Woman) throwing the giant needle into the doctors ("We're only trying to help you!") What's the title of that movie? I can't think of it now. That's kind of a weird one anyway

-Finally, riding that FIRST RIDE of the FIRST DAY of the trip - usually a thrill ride like Rock-n-Roller Coaster or Dinosaur or ToT or Splash Mountain, and me jumping up and down through the whole line cause I'm so happy!

Those are my contributions...anyone else?

* Driving to the airport to leave for WDW.

* Getting into our room at the resort (ASMo).

* Watching my kids at those moments when they are experiencing pure, uninhibited joy. Those moments are great memories!

Relax, I am 70 and my two DD say I am the biggest kid there. Goosebumps and Butterflies. When I see the billboards and know we are getting closer to WDW.
I really know I am there when I am standing at the Castle.
Been doing it for 10 years and it never gets old.
God Bless and have the time of your life.
