What Moderate resort do I choose

My family and I are looking at a trip in October we have always stayed at Pop but we are looking at moving up to a moderate and we don't know which one to choice. I was looking at Coranado Springs because of the bed which is the most important part of chosing a hotel. One thing I really don't like about the moderate resorts are how big they are and how full the buses are going to be. What resorts have the better beds and the better bus system.

POFQ is a very small moderate resort. Each room has two queen beds. Also, POFQ has a free boat ride to Downtown Disney. This is by far my favorite moderate. We always liked to try new resorts, but since we stayed at POFQ, I can't see trying a different resort until we need more room for additional guests!!

We will be staying at POR for the first time in April. I love the added bonus of the boat to DTD!

If you're concerned about size, POFQ is the smallest and only has one bus stop. The other three are all larger with multiple bus stops. That said, they're all great in their own way too! I stayed at Coronado in September, and like you said, they have the best beds of all the moderates. And, as the rooms are designed for the convention crowd, they are the most modern looking and most upscale. Coronado is very large but I found the bus system there was great - only four stops and I never waited more than 10 min for a bus.

We stayed at POR last October and it worked well for us-we loved this resort. We have also stayed at POP. POP is a large resort, I don't know acreage wise how it compares to POR but it didn't feel that much bigger to us than POP. Also, I don't think the buses are any worse/better than POP. If anything POR's bus stop was closer than POP's at the parks.

We like both POP and POR quite a bit, but now we are an official family of 5 so POR AB is the most economical on-site resort for us. Have fun!

My family and I love POP but I hate the beds I have a 9 and 7 year old and it just doesn't fit anymore. I feel that we are taking a big step by upgrading but it is something that we need to do. I am loving all the info please give me more. has anyone stayed at caribbean.

Just booked Coronado for June. Only other stay was at POR in 2009. Can't say a single bad thing about it. Having the boat ride to DTD was really fun. The restaurant is nice, we were just across the bridge and didn't have to walk far. Did not have any long waits for buses the whole time we were there either.
Trying Coronado for something different just to see other places, but would gladly stay at POR again.

We've stayed at POR, POFQ, and CSR for moderates. I like CSR the best. The beds really are comfortable, the grounds are lovely, and the pool slide is great. It is very spread out, but we always rent a car so this isn't an issue for us.

POR has a good food court. Even when we don't stay there, we stop in for lunch or dinner at least once. I didn't care for POFQ, but that was primarily due to bad housekeeping, which can happen anywhere. The pool slide is good for little kids, but not too exciting for the older ones.

We stayed at CBR June 2011 & LOVED it!!! We had stayed ASMu previously but were able to upgrade to a moderate thanks to a PIN. According to my DH we will never stay value again :rotfl: Our kids are now 13 & 8 and the difference in the size of the room was the deal breaker. Not to mention we didn't feel over-run with people all the time. The busses at CBR were great. Really makes a difference having multiple stops vs. everyone trying to get on/off at one big location. We were in Martinque (not preferred) and it was a short walk to the main pool & dining area. Some will say it's too spread out for them and perhaps if we had been in another village I could agree, but we thought it was perfect. We rented a boat at the CBR marina--great fun! We are trying CSR this trip just for a change but it's going to have a hard time living up to our expectations after CBR.

Our first onsite stay was at POFQ and we loved it. Nice small resort and not a bad food court, I know the choices were limited but it suited us for the ammount of time we ate there. Rooms good size and we loved the boat to DTD.

We have also stayed at POR and were lucky to be in a room in the AB section, the building we are in is now classed as a preffered location and I'm not sure how I would have felt if we had been in one of the rooms further out. Food court was again good and we like the pasta and carving station.

We choose these resorts based on the location and option of the boat to DTD. We liked the fact the you have more than the resort only options for dinner if you don't want to hit the parks. Out of the two we would choose to stay at POFQ just because of the compact size of the resort and the buses were better we felt than at POR because there is only the one stop.

We have also stayed at OKW and are staying there again this year. Again we choose it for the same reasons as POR and POFQ. If it is in your price range then I would say its well worth it. Lots of activities for all the family.

Maybe POFQ is what you're looking for. Small in size, one bus stop, boat to DTD and the use of two nice pools.

Enjoy either way.

:)

POR is currently in a refurb cycle which should be done before your visit. POFQ completed their refurbs last year. One of the benefits of the refurbs is "Queen" sized Beds replace the older "Full" size beds in all the rooms

We have stayed at CBR the last 4 times and have a trip planned there this May. We love it. I love the theme and have never thought the resort was too big. There are 6 bus stops (one for each "village") and we have never had a long wait for a bus. We have stayed in Aruba each time and it was about a 5 minute walk across the bridge/island to the main building. For our next trip (our first in the summer with the kids) we decided to pay for the preferred room so we will have even less walking...

Once POR is done with its refurb, CBR will be the only Mod that does NOT have queen beds. We like the PO resorts a bit more then CSR because IMO it just offers more to do there. You can rent boats or surrey bikes, go on a carriage ride and they have a great family entertainment show with YeeHaw Bob plus you have the additional transportation to DTD by boat. We also like the fact that the PO resorts have double sinks while CSR only has 1. We like the pool setup at CSR better because the kids playground Digsite is right by the pool so it makes it very convienant with kids. Buses I would list POFQ, CSR then POR. POFQ only has 1 bus stop, they sometimes with POR, but even then POFQ is the 1st to be picked up and also 1st to be dropped off. But like a PP noted, I have had great and bad bus days at all levels of resorts, it really is just the luck of the draw. Resort size is not an issue for our family, we actually like walking around the resort even after a full day at the parks. It actually helps our DD's to wind down some before getting to our room:)

I stayed in a refurbished room at POFQ last year and loved it. We went during spring break so it was busy but at POFQ you would never know. It is one of the smaller resorts and there was almost always room on the buses. We rarely had to wait. The only time we had to share a bus with POR was when we came back from DD and it was a little crazy.

We never ate in the food court because we aren't breakfast eaters and had reservations at the theme parks for other meals.

For a moderate resort it was definitely worth it! We thought about staying at CBR but I thought it might be too big. In the end POFQ was a great choice for us and we are hoping to go back next summer!

We've never had a crowded bus at CSR. Also on the map I'll post, notice the bridge near the lavender G section. It makes getting to El Centro, the main building, a shorter walk. If you decide to stay here, I recommend staying in Casitas 8A or 8B. They're both very near the Dig Site and near the bridge.

We have stayed at POR many times. There are 5 of us, so it has been our only option in the mods. We love the feel of the resort. It truely feels like Disney. It is so relaxing. I love to walk, so I really was never bothered by the size of the resort. We had a Grand Gathering there a couple of years ago and no one really complained about the walk. My 72 year old mom did fine. In fact my sister-n-law and I would walk over to POFQ to have coffee in the mornings. . We never really had issues with the bus service. In fact, a couple of times when the bus stops were too full, charter buses were called in to take us to the parks. We never waited more than 30 minutes, even at the busiest part of the day.

This year, only three of us will be going. My older boys will be staying home to work. Sniff:sad1: So we will be trying CBR. (It is cheaper than POR). DH will get his own bed and DD will share the second bed. We are used to a King size bed, so a double wouldn't work for DH and me together. We will see how it goes.
