What Mod and Why?

The double beds are a con for me, but we survived them at Pop last time, so I know we can do it again :thumbsup2

The size does scare me a little, but I'm hoping to get the room I request. Another con for POFQ is I highly doubt I can get the free dining there. I've kinda accepted it and moved on....lol. I do LOVE the theming at CBR though. My kids love POTC and I know they are going to love the pool. I am also traveling with my inlaws and I think they will appreciate CBR as well.

We will be there 10/2-10/10. I was there your dates in 2011 and the weather was AMAZING!! 70's almost every day! It was perfect :cool1:

I'm not counting on a room at PORFQ either, but I'll give it a shot. What's a good room request at CBR?

I read some more and CSR gets better reviews than CBR. I just don't care for theming.

Thank you so much for your comments. Looks like PORFQ is in the lead. I can't help it, I'm tossed up between PORFQ and CBR! I LOVE the beach and the setting just really appeals to us.

I enjoyed CBR, but my DD and DSIL hated it. The beach is very relaxing, so I would take my DGD there to play in the sand while I read a book. The resort is HUGE, so keep that in mind if you are booking there. Head over to the CBR thread to see how the buses run (there are a lot f stops) and also decide how much time you want to spend at the feature pool and OPR. There is an internal bus service, but I wanted to walk, so I booked a preferred room. It is 15 a day more, I think, but worth every penny to me.

I know!! I can't tell you how many hours I've spent comparing. Reviews say things are too far away from each other, etc and PORFQ is a small, quaint place and great for small kids like mine. But sitting in a hammack with a glass of wine..........sorry, I was there doing it in my mind and forgot what I was saying!:rotfl2:

It is pretty. My DD and DSIL thought it was too big, but I liked it. I do prefer POFQ, but eveyone has preferences :goodvibes

Don't give up on free dining. POFQ is popular, but if you scan teh resort specific threads, you will see that everyone has a favorite resort, so don't worry.

I think you're making the right decision with POFQ given the ages of your children. I don't think a room request will matter much given it's compactness. There is also a lot more shade areas than CBR and with tired kids, that could provide some relief, along with less walking.
May I suggest taking the boat to DTD for your reservation at TREX, if it works out?

That boat ride was one of my favorite things to do there. In the evening it is so pretty, and the daytime trip is relaxing. I don't know if there are carriage rides throughout the resort anymore, but it was nice to hear the clip-clop of the horses feet, and then see the carriages moving through the streets.

POFQ is our favorite mod, with POR a close 2nd. POFQ is so small, it makes all the resort amenities really close to any room - the pool, food court, bus stop, boat to DTD. The bus service was great - and it shares with POR, but POFQ is 1st pick-up and 1st drop-off. We really liked the food court and the boat to DTD is a definite plus. The resort amenities are shared with POR, so you can use either food court or either pool. The FQ's pool is smaller, but it was never busy (and we travel in AUG!) My dd8 and ds12 were actually disappointed when we told them we were staying at the Poly this trip - they wanted to stay at POFQ!

We have stayed at CSR (1 & 4 yr old), and CBR (4 mos, 2, & 5 yr old) and POFQ (1, 3, 6 then 2, 4, 7). We like POFQ the best because of the compact size, one bus stop, boat to DTD, and ability to walk to POR for larger food court / different pool / etc. CBR was our least favorite due to size and # of bus stops.

We have looked at the Ft Wilderness cabins as we will soon be a family of 6. The things that scared us off was the numerous opinions that a golf cart would be needed to get around the resort. 1) us + strollers don't fit on a golf cart and 2) that extra $$ per day made it unreasonable expensive for us.

Just yet another opinion. :)

Good luck with your decision!

Great point about sharing the food court and pools between POR/FQ! I'm planning 2 1/2 days of hotel time so that's a great option.

I'm leaning towards PORFQ. We can always stop in at CBR for a visit.

Thank you all for your feedback and tips!

Honestly, resort hopping is a nice way to spend some time. If you are going to check out additional resorts, be sure to try to stop in at AKL. It is stunning, and the children will enjoy the animals. The Epcot resorts are fun to visit as well, plenty to do and to see.

CBR is a nice resort we did not mind the walks at night and pool was great. But there is just something about POR..We absolutely loved it, especially yeehaw bob!!

We would choose one of the other mods over the cabins...We stayed at CBR and really liked it there. We found the cabins to be very inconvenient to get around. At CBR we would opt for a preferred room.

I went when my kids were the same ages as yours. POFQ is by far the best resort for traveling with young kids. Small and compact, one bus stop not far from any rooms, great pool that the kids will love, small but good food court, amazing boat ride to DTD, plus short walk to POR for restaurant, huge food court, pool, fishing, carriage rides, etc. I was not that impressed when I saw the pics on the web but I was pleasantly surprised how pretty it was when I got there. The grounds are charming with cobble stone roads, small courtyards with water fountains and views of the water. Buses were fast and there were always places to sit.

I have stayed at All Star resort but the shear size, double beds, packed food court as well as the screaming kids/teens in pool at 1am made the value resorts seem like a very bad option for future visits.
I also stayed at CSR and POR and while the landscaping, pools and food courts were great, the size and the multiple bus stops were a huge factor when returning from the parks with a sleeping baby and 4 year old in my hands. I am going back to POFQ on my next trip as I find this resort to be the ideal resort with young children.
Have a magical trip

:cheer2:Thanks for a been there, done that with your kids age experience! I'm keeping my FX and Toes and everything in between crossed that when FD is released my TA can get me a room.

Any suggestions on what a good building would be to request, if any?
