What meals/treats have you ordered that were just too much for one person?

I am a big eater. I can put away a surprising amount of food all on my own. However, I'm not willing to be uncomfortably full for my entire trip, and I'd rather not order anything that has to go to waste. I hear a lot of people say that certain things are big and plenty to share, (for example, the ice cream cookie sandwich or cinnamon rolls). SO, my question is, what meals and desserts/snacks have you ordered solo and that were just WAY too big for one person? Was it worth what you had to throw away?

Usually in Disney, my family and I are always sharing stuff, so I'm just looking for a little guidance! Thoughts?

I haven't ordered one, but it looks like the turkey legs would be big enough for 2 - 3 people. If you're getting a funnel cake, that might also be better to split with someone.

On DCL:
The brunch on any of the ships can be too much.
Old saying on a cruise:
You enter as a guest and exit as luggage if you eat at every opportunity.

Another thought for the OP: you'll be there during the Food & Wine Festival, and the kiosks there are ideal for finding small portions of all kinds of food! This way, you can try things until you are full, and then stop without having to waste anything.

(I know this doesn't help with the other three parks, but at least it can take care of Epcot.)

Liberty Tree Tavern's Dinner was a lot for me to handle. I'm not a salad person, so I didn't even touch that before my meal came. The rolls are really good and it might have been a mistake filling up on 3 of them before my food even came. I ate about half of what was on my plate. But I still recommend it, one of the best meals i had on my college program.

Agree. I never even bought a turkey leg on my CP. I knew I wouldn't get my money's worth because they are so big. No need in throwing more than half of something away!

The Food & Wine samples were the only things I could finish on my own. I think Disney is very generous with portion sizes. I had a ton of braised pork left at BOG, too much pizza at Via Napoli, I ordered appetizers at Yak & Yeti but couldn't finish, and I was starving when I went to Tokyo Dining and still couldn't finish my sushi. I also could not finish meals that I bought at the resort food court. All the food was pretty good though so I had fun trying! :)

I am a smallish female ( size 2-4) if I haven't been snacking I can finish any meal at WDW and I have been ovetr 50 times. I have eaten at every cs location and probably 80% if the ts ones. I am always shocked when people say they share meals especially at the cs places, I just don't think the portions are that large. There are some snacks that if I eat myself I could skip a meal ( dole whip float, funnel cake) but no meals.

My problem is not that the portion sizes are too big, but the fact that there are so many "must-try" items that I just don't want to fill up on any one thing. Variety is the goal.

For that reason, I've never even tried a turkey leg either -- even though I walked by them every day as a cast member and always made a mental note to eat one someday. I also think that some of the treats like candied apples are too much for me... but they sure are good when shared.

I guess portion size is a very personal thing. There are people of all appetite sizes who visit the parks, and the average American demands more generosity (especially at those prices).

The nacho's at Big River Brewery at the Boardwalk. It was way too much for DH and I to eat. Thankfully that is all we ordered!

Oh and the tonga toast at the Poly. If you get it from Captain Jacks quick service its cheaper than at Kona's. We get a side of sausage and we split one order of tonga toast - very filling for two people

I thought I was the only one that finished all my meals and don't find them too large!!! Even the funnel cakes I can eat by myself (actually I prefer not to share them! Lol!)

I'd say the create your own pasta bar at Port Orleans Riverside! The couple of times i've had it was more than enough food for me with more remaining.

The warm cinnamon roll at Gaston's Tavern. Both me and my BF made attempts at it..but it was almost the size of my head and we barely made a dent before we had to give up.

Are they larger than the ones that were at the Main Street bakery?

The one I had was probably jus t slightly smaller than thr MSB ones.

personally, i find the food and wine festival portions very large for one person. I was sharing each portion with my DBF and we could only manage to make it through 5 countries before we had to call it quits.

I don't think anyone is expected to have food from all the countries in one go. The portions seem designed for exactly what you did: sample from a few countries.

I'm planning on two meals, each consisting of visiting a few kiosks, so I'll have a chance to sample from more countries.

Interesting thread. This is our first trip and I've decided not to do DDP because whenever I see trip reports from people who do it they usually end up throwing out at least half of whatever dessert they are forced to order to get their money's worth. I wonder if anyone has ever done a study on how much food is wasted, both pre and post-consumer, every day at WDW. It would probably be depressing.

These were one of those things I wanted to try but have been hearing about the size issue. Definitely taking that off my list for now. Thanks!
