what makes you feel uncomfortable about fashion?

I hate button down shirts , they just feel tight across my back. I have wide shoulders for a woman.

I live in t shirts and hoodies.

Anything corporate looking. I haven’t had a corporate job in over 20 years.

I live in jeans and T-shirts. Next year when we move I’ll be living in shorts snd tank tops.

High heels that make me walk like a baby giraffe.
Also what is with this trend of having on random sleeve missing?

Not really liking the current stuff. It goes like this ever couple of years, it seems. I'll want a new item of apparel, or need new shoes, and not even be able to find anything I'm willing to buy. And I'm not talking runway looks - just regular clothes from regular stores. A quick scroll through the "new arrivals" at Macy's right now and there's almost nothing there that would appeal to me.

Call me an old lady or a prude, but what passes for homecoming and prom dresses boggles my mind, especially for those in middle school. I get wanting to feel pretty, but if you can't bend down without showing your world, the dress is too short.
I said what I said.

This will be an unpopular opinion, but I hate the waste and debt the entire fashion industry encourages. To me clothes and shoes are functional: when they wear out, I buy replacements. People would feel sorry for me seeing my closets. Too much stuff stresses me out. Less is more.

Absolutely no judgement for those who love it and can afford it, but I see way too many in debt with closets packed full already. They buy way too much stuff because that's what's "in", then donate or sell for pennies on the dollar to buy different stuff the next year that's now the "in" style. And constantly complain they have no money.

People will say that the fashion industry generates jobs and strengthens the economy, but those aren't productive jobs to me vs jobs that save lives, grow food, help people live a better quality of life, help cure diseases, provide services, deliver entertainment, or help solve problems, like traveling around town or the world more efficiently, etc, etc.

Long sleeve button downs or dress shirts. Wear polo type shirts to work all year. Generally speaking I only wear long sleeve once a year to my company chirstmas party.

This is me. I have what people these days would call a "capsule wardrobe". But I have been dressing like this before it was trendy.

Muted colors. Basic pieces. A scarf here and there for a pop. Good pieces. But when they wear out, I just replace them with a very similar piece. I currently own only 2 pairs of jeans and 5 pairs of pants (3 which are black). A black blazer, some colorful Tieks (as well as a black pair), and black Dansko clogs. Some blouses and good t shirts. Basic work out wear, and sneakers.

That is it. That is my wardrobe. Throw on a good solid t-shirt with a well fitting blazer and nice jeans, good flats and you will be dressed for about 75% of life's events.

My wardrobe is very, very small. I love it that way. It's peaceful in a way.

Jeans...while there was a time in my life where good pairs of jeans were part of my regular wardrobe, there was never anything comfortable about them. I hit a point somewhere in my 20s where I almost completely ditched the denim prison for more comfortable clothing. While we're primarily work from home these days, my employer used to give us "Jeans Day" stickers that we could buy (or be awarded) as a treat to have a jeans day while everyone else was required to follow their more conservative business casual attire guidelines. I usually just gave mine to fellow coworkers because they'd just sit on my desk collecting dust.

Eugenia Sheppard once said, "To call a fashion wearable is the kiss of death. No new fashion worth its salt is ever wearable." So take that as you will.

For me, I can wear whatever I want to work so I usually look like a tech bro - jeans, t-shirts, hoodies, chuck taylors/toms/docs.

I wear classics when it comes to fashion and apparel. Not very interested in trends just a core wardrobe that is replenished as needed. I quoted you, shh, just to point out that the garment industry also supplies uniforms and textiles for ALL the industries you feel are essential. I also think it would be a pretty boring existence without fun in fashion.
I may not partake much but I surely smile.

The trend in our area for most all the dresses to look like they belong on Little House on the Prairie!!!!
I have been trying to buy a dress locally that is comfortable and doesn't look like I should sing "Hey Loretta, I love you more than an Irish Setter", LOL. I know there are good sites for dresses online, but want to give our local businesses the money if possible. So far, not finding anything I like.

People who dress in clothes that they aged out of long ago. Makes me embarrassed and uncomfortable for them that they haven't figured it out yet.

For me personally, it's low rise jeans that seem to be coming back. Or basically anything that looks like it could have come from the set of Clueless. The late 90's-early 2000's stuff. It wasn't great the first time around lol.

Who gets to decide at what age someone is too old to wear a certain thing? Saying someone has "aged out" of an article of clothing is just as bad as saying someone is too large to wear something IMO. Aren't we to the point where people can wear whatever they feel comfortable in?
