I am not a fan of buffets BUT AKL will be beautiful with Christmas decorations. I have been to Jiko but that is too sophisticated for even my DSs.

What makes Boma so special for dinner?

Thanks,
penny

The amount of choices you have! Atmosphere is great too! There is something there for everyone!

Honestly, there's not a lot of stuff I like there (but I love going to eat there). However, I have found the few things I love and really eat a lot of. We usually go on Friday nights and their flank steak with the boma mustard is outstanding. I flat out load up on that stuff. I also love the desserts. Unfortunately, they don't have their ginger carrot soup on the same night. It's awesome, and I would be in heaven if they had the meat and soup on the same night.

The atmosphere was great, buffet style yes, but great theming, the server we had was very knowledgeable and recommended items I found to be absolutely wonderful. My 4 year old daughter loved almost everything she ate (we were quite adventurous that night). Overall it was my favorite dining experience at WDW. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone

We ate at Boma for the first time on our vaction earlier this month. I have to say it was one of the best highlights of our trip and we will definitely plan to eat there on future visits.
The variety of foods that you don't normally see (most were at the least good, at the most delicious), plus the desserts sealed it for us. To top it off, the chef (Asian guy) stopped by our table and gave us the most awesome dessert. It's hard to describe but I'll try. Imagine oreos covered in chocolate deep fried with a funnell cake type batter, then drizzled in chocolate and served with a lot of whipped cream. Unbelievable!!! :goodvibes

Peace

The thing I like about Boma being buffet style, is that you can sample all these exotic african foods without worrying if you're going to like it or not. You can go up, take a sampling of stuff, find out what you really like, and then get more of it. The food there is so delicious... and can only be topped by the amazing desserts.

The soups :)

We loved the soups. I'd be satisfied just going there to eat the soups and nothing else.

Did you get the recipes for any of them? I got the ginger carrot, the chicken coconut curry, and the seafood gumbo. I haven't tried making any of them, though, but I'm really curious to see how they'd come out.

We were very disappointed with Boma. I'm not a big buffet fan either, and this was buffet food. Unusual buffet food - and good quality for buffet food, but overcooked, out too long in the warmer, slightly stale buffet food. After the raves I'd expected better. The restaurant is loud and overcrowded.

The soups were really good though.

Boma is my dh's favorite WDW restaurant and my second favorite (after Kona). Dh and I both enjoy cooking (well, when we don't HAVE to cook!!!); so, when we eat out, we want food that is better and more unique than what we make at home. Boma definitely satisfies both requirements. The food is great (I especially like the Cocomisu.) but not so unusual that you won't recognize what you are eating.

I made the chicken coconut curry soup (as well as the Boma mustard) and they both tasted exactly the same as they did at Boma. I was sooo happy!

My sentiments exactly! It is fun to try a little of everything. I could leave after just a meal of the soups and desserts and feel the money was well spent.

Ditto all of that except add waitress was no different than any waitress I've ever had at any low-rate buffet here in my home (small) town (ie: practically nonexistent and I can't recall her even saying a word the entire time... kinda mumbled and I kept asking my oldest child if she said something and if so- did she catch what she said? LOL) -and exchange soups in quote above with desserts. With those exchanges- ditto everything else. I know everyone has likes and dislikes but I was disappointed there and won't eat there again.

For me, the Butternut squash soup, though they also have that at Mara.
We had some exquisite beef at Boma also.

I think what attracts us is that it's so different from what we're used to. The combination of spices is so fragrant and flavorful...all the dishes are more of an experience than just a meal. Seems like cinnamon is often involved in many of the dishes.

Sorry to say but double ditto....it is my most disappointing meal on disney property to date. The zebra domes were not even enough to make up for all the other disappointing

Hubby and I liketo goto try new and different things. So BOMA is on our MUST DO dining experiences.

I love it.

Didn't like the zebra domes, though -- in fact most of the desserts aren't my kind of thing. Fortunately, the food is so good it's not really an issue by the time I'm done with the main courses!

I agree with you with the exception of the banana bread pudding. That's something I really enjoyed, but I was too full to really care.

Sorry, but ditto. Because of all the "hype" we tried BOTH breakfast and dinner there. The only thing we liked or thought special about the breakfast was the excellent juice, otherwise "basic" buffet, and it seemed like less choices than most, and the only thing about dinner was that the desserts were good. DH is a dessert guy, and didn't think it worth coming back for that. We didn't like Jiko either. I would have to agree though. AKL IS stunning at Christmas.

We do enjoy buffets, as it gives us and our girls a chance to try different things, we do love BOMA. We love the breads and hummus, love the soups and different salads, really enjoy the meats and special sauces that you can have. I love the fact that they have fresh fruits, and different desserts. I personally do not care for the Zebra domes, but loooove the bread pudding, I should add that we also like Crystal Palace, and do not care for Chef Mickey...
