What makes a Disney Deluxe Resort "worth it?"

Hmm, what makes a Deluxe worth it? For me it would have to be that feeling of joy I get whilst looking down upon the peasants staying at those Value Resorts.

(This is a joke, I myself am in fact also a Value Peasant)
:rotfl2::rotfl::laughing: Good one, thanx for the laughs!

First off, I've really enjoyed the segments.

Second, when you start looking at the cost of a deluxe and deciding if it's worth it, it's rarely the theme and all of this special stuff that factors into the top justifications for me. We stayed offsite until we had kids...well, and until an offsite resort's bus stranded us at Epcot pre-kids. So, it was reliability of Disney transportation that brought us onsite. Ultimately, it was convenience/location and room size/bed size that pushed us to the deluxe resorts. Our kids were young and did much better with midday breaks away from the stimulation of the parks. I'm also kind of claustrophobic, which gets worse when we're traveling with a bunch of stuff that needs to fit into a resort room. We also don't sleep well in smaller beds. Getting back and forth from the parks with little ones was also a factor. Walking back to the Contemporary from MK or BC/YC/BW from Epcot is a lot easier than having to rely on a bus, and usually takes less time. So, good location, bigger rooms, better transportation, and bigger beds come before any theme.

We open and close the parks so essential...nothing. I do think in he future when I stay on the grounds more than the parks totally worth it.

I love the location and the transportation options more than anything. I especially love the monorail resorts. If the deluxe resort does not have great location or transportation options, I have no interest in staying there. AKL comes to mind immediately. The overall convenience of getting to and from the parks is worth paying so much more for IMO. Of course I love the theming and additional emenities as well, but the proximity to the parks is my overall favorite thing about most of the deluxes. If they built a nice moderate resort on the monorail line, I would stay there in a heartbeat. But I don't see that ever happening.
