What makes a 4 day Disney cruise worth more than a 7 day cruise on another line

That does not mean that a Disney cruise is for everyone. In fact, I think Disney appeals to a smaller cross section then most other cruise lines... but it's Disney. And the product they offer cant be found anywhere else.

Good point. I know people who have within a day's drive of WDW their whole life and have no interest in visiting....ever.

For me, Disney is an escape to a Pollyanna world whose very existence is to make your smile. Disney is in the family vacation business and they are very good at what they do! I would never have even dreamed of taking a cruise for a vacation had it not been for Disney. To me (years ago), a cruise was what old people did on vacation not something a 5 yo little boy wanted to do. But I was working TDY at KSC in the late 1990s and staying in Cocoa Beach and the first time I drove by the port and saw the Magic there, I nearly drove off the road! We were huge Disney fans going to the Mouse House and seeing all the Disney movies. I had no idea Disney had a boat! That was it, we cruise on our next vacation and have been hooked ever since.

Well people, we are going to find out! We just booked a 7 night on the Disney Fantasy for October of 2016. We have been going back and forth on this for years and have finally decided to find out for ourselves. I know that we are going to have an awesome time, and fortunately we will have a week at Disney this October to tide us over.

If you and your family are enjoying what you are currently doing, why would you want to spend more money for less days? Don't get me wrong, I've loved my DCL cruises, but really can't justify the premium prices any longer. My kids have no interest in the kids clubs so that benefit on DCL has no benefit to me.

We recently booked our first CCL on the new Vista for a Mediterranean cruise. We had a choice, we could pay $4400 for 2 insides for an 8 day Mediterranean on the Vista or pay $7600 for 2 insides for a 7 day Caribbean on the Fantasy. After researching the Vista and what she has to offer for activities and food choices it was a no brainer.

I think when DCL entered the cruising world, they took the industry by storm and set a pretty high bar. The other lines are now playing catch up and I believe are starting to make some head way.

Put another way, if you could afford to drive a Lexus for a full month every month but for the same dollars every month you could drive a Tesla for 22 days what would you do?

I'm jealous lol. I was pleasantly surprised by the kids clubs at carnival. My kids, who refer to all cruises as Disney boats (not sure why) said carnival's club were fun in a different cool way (whatever that means). They love the late night jams

The Night Owls parties were some of my kids' favorite memories from Carnival. You pay for them, but they are fun and the kids get swag. I wish DCL offered something like that.

With out trying to sound like a smart-Eyore... they are worth more because people pay more. I would say there is no "one" reason people pay more, but all of us that do, must have some reason. The fact of the matter is that they have a great product and people want it. Ask 100 people why and you may get 100 different answers.

VERY WELL SAID

If you or someone you are cruising with is really into Disney, it's cruise and a Disney vacation in one. I don't know if we'd cruise without Disney. We're not big Disney folk, but the kids were JUST in heaven, and that made it worth it to us. My kids didn't feel like they were on a vacation where they got to meet characters, they felt like they were on a vacation WITH the characters. The princesses knew them by name at the end of the cruise and the girls thought they were, like, BEST FRIENDS with them. It was really magical for them, and never have we returned from a vacation that they were so devastated had ended.

That said, I'd spring for a 7 night Disney. I do think 4 would be short.
