What made you feel old today?

Years ago when I visited my aunt and uncle and accused them of building a bigger house.... the yard that my cousin and I played till dark in every adventure possible...shrunk!!!!!!!
What made you feel old today? For me, it was some old photos that my grandma found of me next to the tree in my backyard. That old maple tree was MUCH smaller when I was a kid!

When jeopardy categories headings don't pertain to my life.... there are days I have no idea of the pop culture....and oh... they released the top songs of the last 25 years....oh my.... Crazy... the only one I recognized....and only because I was getting a divorce

Pretty much every day - at least those first couple steps. :headache:
I first have to lay in bed and stretch most of my body to determine what is going to hurt worse when I actually get out of the bed. I told hubby yesterday I used to wonder why older people webbled when they walked and now I know since most of the time I have some sort of hitch in my get along when I walk.

I mentioned a 90s singer at work and was met with blank stares and "who?"

when I was in my 20's and teaching a class of 5th graders I mentioned the beatles only to get a bunch of blank stares until one of the students said 'oh the beatles-were'nt they paul mccartney's back up singers before he formed wings?' :faint: yup, felt ancient that day.
Today is John Lennon's 85th birthday. 😲

hard to believe but it will be 44 years ago in December we lost him.

Seeing this list and realizing that the songs I would put on it ALL do not qualify - as they are too old (over 25 years old);

I'll save you the scroll, top 5;
5) Taylor Swift, "All Too Well"
4) White Stripes, "Seven Nation Army"
3) Beyonce, "Crazy in Love"
2) Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, "Maps"
1) Missy Elliot, "Get Your Freak On"
Not my list, top 2 definitely too highly ranked IMHO.

Towards the end of my career in the newsroom I was the "go to" guy if a celebrity died. "Is this something that should be in the next newscast and on the website?" was the usual question. When Carol Channing passed away I was shocked that a manager had no idea who she was. I can KIND OF understand that, except that her last husband was from our area, a prominent businessman and local politician and they maintained a home in our area. And she was a frequent guest lecturer in the drama departments of the three biggest Universities in our area. This manager searched the archives and was surprised to see how many stories we had done on her, including a long form story just 6 months earlier when we put on a seminar at the local State University. So yes, I felt old, but also shocked at this manager not even knowing the name. On the flip side, there are a lot of current celebrities as I wrapped up my career that I knew little about, but usually I knew the name.

50 years ago Paul Simon was the second episode performer with his new album.... and your like thinking late on a Saturday night as a university student... what???? What????.... now.oh my oh my 😱 😱... good thing they invented pickleball this decade

My coworkers who are younger than my adult children. And realizing when I'm talking to them about a procedure we started doing "many" years ago, several were probably in elementary school.

That people born in the early 90s are in their 30s. Sometimes I still feel like I’m still in my 30s, but I’m really close to 50.

Well that's good... because when you turn 70... you will still be 50....at least I am.... except for the music... I could not tell you a swift song and still think that Duran Duran wild boys is my theme song

The first time I remember feeling old was when I realized that the calculator I was holding was older than the college graduate that we had just hired.

I remember watching these first run which considering their recent hoopla over their 50th anniversary def. had me feeling old but what really hit me was when I saw that 'the rocky horror picture show' turned 50 this year b/c I remember going to the midnight showings in high school (we lived near one of the first 30 u.s. theatres to do weekly midnight showings within a year or so of it's release).
