What made you choose the college you went to?

I went to University of Houston because I lived four miles away and at about $250 per semester for tuition and fees meant the $625 scholarship per semester left enough money for beer.

Well it was pretty much only between 2 schools since I wanted to commute (there were 2 other schools that were close but I just didn't like them). I liked both schools, but one school gave me a full scholarship and the other only gave me about half. I also liked the the one school's campus a little better.

I went to the same school as my siblings. It was a private college near where my parents grew up but 1300 miles away from home.

All 11 of my family attended the college at least one semester. Only 3 graduated from there.

One of the youngest brothers swears he was forced to go to not break the tradition. :) He lasted the shortest time - one semester.

I chose this community college because it's close and the price is right. The problem will come when I have to transfer to a university.

I chose MSU because it was "in town" so to speak and I was married with a child when I started taking classes :)

My son chose a college in Texas because he was born in Texas and because it was 1300 miles from his parents :)

I'm currently a senior in high school, so I can post my reasons for applying to certain colleges right? :)

1. Boston area...far away from home!
2. Something with an art education program.
3. Grades, someplace that I can get into.
4. I'd like a weightroom as well. ;)

I'm leaning towards Boston University.

I bleed Tennessee Orange. Always have, always will.

Actually I knew I was going to Tennessee when I was 8 and I saw my Mom finally get her degree. (She took a few years off for love and kids LOL!) From that point on there was no swaying me and my folks tried! (They thought UT was too big for me.)

EVIL PRINCESS..............You would LOVE Boston, but please leave your Yankee hat at home;) ;) ;) ;) ;) .......

I chose my University because it had a co-op program, which combines semesters of traditional education with work semesters in your field. It takes 5 years to complete a Bachelors program but you come out with real world work experience plus you've made a bit of money too.

A few of my friends decided to change Majors after a co-op or two also. Sometimes, once you start to work in the field you decide it's not for you after all. For me it opened the door to the career I wanted.

WM MIchelle, I didn't know you know good old KC! MU is the best journalism school!

I went to CMSU b/c it was close enough for me to come home on weekends and work, b/c they have my degree, and b/c I could afford it. DH tagged along b/c he loved me!

Sonja, I grew up in KC! :) My mom still lives there. I went to Center High School, if you know where that is! :)

OMG! I went to Ruskin. When did you graduate, if I might ask?

My first choice for college right now is UC Davis (because i want to be a veterinarian, they are known for having a good vet program), and i want to stay in CA. But i am also looking at schools in Montana and Texas

It's indoor swimming pool - LOL! When I was a kid my dad attended a conference there one summer and we went along. I'd never seen an indoor pool before.

Actually when it came time to choose my reasons were
- it was small but not too small
- had a great choral music program
- had a church affiliation
- no sororities etc.

My decision was influenced by the fact that my brother flunked out of one of our state colleges ( but still lived near by and hosted parties - yikes), and my sister was unhappy at the other. I went with a private, out-of-state school.

1) It had an excellent fine arts program
2) I got to live in Greenwich Village
3) My favorite brother was in Manhattan at the time, studying at Pratt Institute, where I later also got my masters degree

And Chipperidini, I had to laugh about the comment on your DH. Mine came along for the ride as well. :)

$. I liked a bunch of schools, one in MA, one in CT, one in PA, and the one I actually attended. By the time the finances were all said and done, it was going to cost me less to go there than it was to go to Morris County Community College. So it was a choice: spend $X for that, or spend $5X to go anywhere else. Of course, now I will bleed orange and black until I die. :)

1.) I wanted to go away from home, but somewhere close enough that I could get home if I wanted (2-4 hour drive).

2.) I wanted a school with a strong Business program, preferably known for Accounting.

3.) I showed up for Open House at the college, fell in love with the campus, found out that they were #1 (or #2, depending on the poll) in Accounting in Ohio) in Accounting, and they gave me a nice amount of scholarships as well. :)

Lots of reasons:
Location (only 3 hrs from home)
One of the best public universities
The football team  ;) :p
We could afford it (thanks to grants and student loans)
The beauty of the campus
Both its pharmacy and Journalism programs were top notch (that was what I was deciding between at the time, I ended up with a degree in Public Relations, so yes some people change their minds a hundred times. )
It's big and I wanted big

Thankfully UF accepted me, as it was the only University I applied to. lol Also thankfully my mom let me go, as it was right after the student murders there. Most of our family thought we were nuts.

I liked the school a lot when I visited, and, when I won a four year tuition, fees, and room and board scholarship it was very easy to accept it.

I went to a small girls school and wanted to go to a big college where I didn't know anyone - I wanted to get away from the girls I went to school with (I didn't live in the "right" neighborhood, according to them). I was also attracted to the party image, football, etc. at Georgia. I have a lot of self discipline, and it was a great four years! I will never forget how kind everybody there was, from my first day there. It made all the difference to this shy girl!
