What made me happy/ smile today thread

The Disney bandana I ordered from Ebay for my DH arrived from Japan today! I'm going to surprise him and hide it under his dinner napkin

this actually happened yesterday, but i'm still smiling about it today. one of my former HS classmates is a kindergarten teacher at the elementary school DD14 attended, and i've substituted for her several times during this school year. so, i get a text from her last night, thinking she wanted me to sub for her this friday, and, frankly, it's DD's first day of summer vacation and my day off, so i really didn't want to do it, but i opened her text, and it contained a picture. this required me to wait for it to upload, and i'm wondering what in the world she would've sent me a picture of.
so, it finally opens and there is a picture of a hand with a HUGE diamond ring on it and underneath the photo it said "Look what I got! I SAID YES!!". I was SO happy for her, i didn't know what to do with myself. you see, she lost her husband almost 2 years ago to malignant melanoma. they'd been together for 17 years, and had 2 daughters together (he also had 3 children from his first marriage); their oldest is in 8th grade with DD14.
it made my day to know that someone who had suffered so much the past 2 years has found happiness again. she really does deserve it. oh, and come to find out, her fiance is another one of our former classmates!

OH, and i also found out yesterday that DD14 will be graduating 8th grade tomorrow with straight As! her lowest grade on all of her finals was an 89 in algebra I! none of her final grades is lower than a 96, and she made 100s in band, P.E. and PRE-AP english!

General: I'm leaving for Florida as soon as hubby picks me up from work...he's on his way but running late and seeing the nurturing my dog gives our new puppy. I know he learned it from me since I adopted him when he was five weeks old.
Disney: Knowing I'm only 8 hours from WDW now and can go for Labor Day.

Watching the blue jay come right up to my back door and grab cat food out of the outside dish really made me smile. Those blue jays aren't afraid of anything! Then he proceeded to jump into the container of water I have outside for the cat. I've had to dump the water out and clean the bowl twice now, but it's worth it just to watch this!

Watching my 2 youngest grandkids play at racing each other and having a lot of fun. They are 2 and 4.

We've had sunshine all this week but today was my first day off. I sat out in my parents garden with my Dsis and we read magazines, chatted and ate ice pops. The my DM,DF and Dfi all came home from work and we had a catch up, ate pizza and laughed!

Disney: We've got 3 months to go! Can't wait to go back to Epcot where DFi proposed last summer

We're giving DH's sweet and young at heart 85yo DBro a surprise dinner party tonight at his fave Italian restaurant . Leaving shortly to decorate, deliver BD cake, and pick up their sis in DC. We're expecting about 50 people and know he'll be so overjoyed seeing everyone ~ then he's off for more world travel. He's such an inspiration to all those who love him!?!?!

This happened yesterday but I am still smiling about it ---- I won $500 at a casino!

My DH & I both had yesterday off and while DD (14) was at school we went on a date. We were just going to go to a local mall and then to lunch but then DH suggested we go to a local casino instead to do something different. This was only the 3rd time in my life that I'd stepped foot in a casino.

We each took $100 to play with. I only used 1 of my $20s and had good luck building on it - that initial $20 kept me going for the whole 3 hours we were there. On the last machine I played I had some really GOOD luck - I hit some big jackpots and my pot go to over $600 at one point. I played on that same machine for an hour and told myself I'd only let it get down to $500 before cashing in which I did.

DH went home with $100 so he broke even. We just went in to have some fun with no expectations of winning. So, it was a fun day!!

Taking a ride on the 4-wheeler with DH this evening after the temps cooled down a little. Then we went for a drive and got ice cream. Topped off a really great day!

Today: Rec'ing a video of our out of state lil 4yo adorable DGD's 1st Ballerina recital . Melted our hearts.

Getting to sleep in until 7:30 (1st day of summer vacation) and when I came downstairs DD8 was making breakfast for herself and her younger brother. She even cleaned up her mess!
