We are starting to pack for our upcoming vacation. We will be staying in a 2 bedroom with full kitchen for the first time. We are planning on making breakfasts and a couple of dinners.

What kitchen stuff do to you bring from home that is not available in the DVC kitchen?

Salt, pepper, sugar, sometimes a crock pot, foil, ziploc bags. We're not coffee drinkers, but we would need filters and coffee if we were.

I used to bring a nonstick pan until they updated the pans. Now it is just stuff you can't buy small amounts of: seasonings, flour for white sauce, zip lock bags with crumble topping for fruit crumble, sugar, salt, pepper, coffee and coffee filters.

Do they have decent cutting knives and flippers and cooking spoons? How about a cheese grater?

Keurig coffee maker and coffee (we used to bring filters and coffee)
We may bring our Ninja blender if we want to make frozen drinks or smoothies... but you can also request a blender.

large cups for beverages, with reusable hard plastic straws for use poolside.
Knives if I want good sharp ones.
Pitcher and drink mixes (can't drink soda all week!)
Extra trash bags
Laundry soap and dryer sheets and stain remover

That depends a bit on which resort. When we stayed at AKV, there was no pancake turner. There was a skimmer that someone in their housekeeping insisted was a turner. Well, a rounded item does NOT work for flipping flat pancakes! If you are in any of the other resorts, you will have a proper pancake turner.

No cheese grater though. We keep a few special sized cereal bowls, a griddle and a coffee grinder in our owner's locker. Oh, and a pancake turner for those AKV trips!:thumbsup2

You should find a list of items taped to the inside of one of the kitchen cabinets. If an item is missing (which happens often) you can call housekeeping and they will bring it up rather quickly. Some things are kept in the lower section of the stove or above the fridge.

Sometimes I bring foil along with the Zip Lock bags, salt and pepper.

I bring scissors too since it is so hard to open a lot of the food bags. Blades need to be under 4 inches and the tips should be covered so they won't poke TSA if they are in your carry on.

I bring salt, pepper and spices for the stuff I'm planning to cook and a few coffee filters. We always make a grocery stop so I'll always get coffe and disposable coffee cups with lids when I pick up the food. drinks and snacks.

I sometimes bring dish towels, clothes and hot pads if I plan to do a lot of cooking. The one towel provided doesn't do it for me.

Thanks for this post. YOu reminded me that I have to pack chili seasoning, salt, pepper, shake n bake. I may also do some baking since my daughter has a peanut allergy and we can't ever buy dessert.

We pack a round pizza pan and a pizza cutter. We find it humorous that you can purchase a full size pizza in the resort store but not have the proper pan to cook it with in the room.

We usually bring plastic cups. Dollar store or walmart has Disney themed ones.

Thinking about bringing a knife this time...again a dollar store variety but that should be sharper than the DVC one's. I think folks use those to saw wood or something.

and...hot sauce!!!

Cute tip I picked up but haven't tried yet: Pack seasonings in pill boxes you can get from the pharmacy (in Walmart they usually hang them dangling from the ends of the isles)

I always bring one good sharp knife (wrapped well in a paper towel & rubber band so it doesn't pierce the suitcase), kitchen sheers and tinfoil muffin liners which dont' need a tray (this last time though I forgot these so had wegoshop deliver foil muffin trays ... and loved them.)

I usually bring our own covered skillet and teflon turner from home for pancakes etc and will have my son pre-make the batter in ziplock bags so all I need to do is add oil, milk and an egg. (... yes, my son's pancakes come out better than mine, still have no clue why LOL) If we're staying in a studio, I also bring a measuring cup and plastic mixing bowl w/cover.

Grocery and tip money. I can't say we bring anything other than that.

We bring salt, pepper, zip lock baggies, coffee filters, Splenda for coffee, large coffee cup for DH, a sharp knife and a dish cloth & dish towel. I hate using a sponge to wash dishes and one dish towel is not enough for me. Oh, I also bring tea bags & a large pitcher. We drink a ton of ice tea and need more than the pitcher they provide.

We have noticed that OKW is the only resort that usually gives you TWO towels. I just use the sharp knives provided. We also have added a coffee grinder to our Owner's Locker and larger cereal bowls.

I was in a 2BR at BWV for our first trip "home" in August. We had no dishwasher detergent and when I asked a housekeeper in the hall for some she said it wasn't included. maybe I should have called instead. We bought a small package at grocery and put them in owners locker.

Is this an item that should be replenished?

As far as I remember that is included-at least we had dishwasher detergent powder packets available in April at BWV. Heading back in a few weeks. I will have to make sure to pack something to put in my owners locker just in case.

Since I've been home I have seen that it on the list of what should be included but I'm not sure if it's one of the items you're allowed to call and get extra of. I thought it was just easier to buy a 10 pack of those cubes rather than fight with housekeeping.

We spent the prior 8 nights at AKV Kidani on a cash reservation. That 1 BR had 2 packets to start, replenished 1 day (we had daily housekeeping) but not replenished other days yet when I asked in the hall for more they gave it to me.
