Would like some suggestions on what athletic shoes to buy for the best comfort at WDW. I have purchased NB 792 (mostly mesh) and Reebok DMX max and can't decide on what is the best, or if I should try something different. Am going in September, expecting it to be hot.

Some suggestions on your most comfortable shoes?

I am a New Balance person. I used to wear Nike all the time, but a friend suggested NB and I have converted. I work in a Dr's office and am on my feet from 8-10 hrs a day, so comfort is a necessity. I like the running shoes as opposed to the trail shoes for heavy duty walking, which you do alot of in Disney.

I wear New Balance almost exclusively. There's a factory store nearby. :) They fit well and I've never gotten a blister. They also hold up well. Just make sure whatever you wear is well broken in!!

A podiatrist told me once that the best type of athletic shoe (in a reasonable price range) are New Balance. Saucony is a great brand too, but pretty pricey. I've done WDW and DL several times and can swear by New Balance. I always take at least two pairs of sneakers to WDW and alternate wearing each pair every other day.

One thing, if you aren't already aware, about New Balance is the higher the number, it tends to be a better shoe. I have some 717 and 719's that are sooooo comfy. I also have some 300 series and my feet can definitely tell the difference. HTH!

We've visited WDW several times, and my wife and I swear by New Balance walking shoes. We purchase directly from New Balance Web Express. Their customer service is excellent.

I am an Asics girl. Nikes just don't fit me well, and I have worn Adidas b/c they were gifts, and they worked okay, but I love the way Asics fit my feet. My DH has some New Balance that he likes.

I just wanted to add something here- all of the shoe brands listed here are good brands, but may not be the right shoe for your particular foot. I would highly recommend going to a local running store to get fitted properly for your foot type.

(Ok, shameless plug maybe :lmao: , but that is what I do for a living. I am an athletic trainer, so when I do a full fitting it takes about 30 minutes or so. I do a gait analysis on a treadmill before trying on shoes, and talk about medical or training history, injuries, goals, etc. I check to see if the person needs a cushion, stability or motion control shoe, make sure they don't wear orthotics, and go from there. After we have it narrowed down, I watch them walk and/or run in those shoes to make sure the biomechanics look correct.)

I do recommend the smaller running stores, because they will know a lot more about the particular shoes they carry, as opposed to the major chains, where it is more likely to come across employees that don't know much (if anything) about the construction of each shoe.

Hope this helps, and good luck- once you find that right shoe, you will know it!

For the past several years I have worn New Balance walking shoes(all leather - no mesh). For our trip last September I wanted to take two pairs of shoes. I took my usual pair and then bought a pair of New Balance running shoes because they had a lot of mesh on them. I ended up wearing those the entire trip because they were so much cooler and lighter. Dried faster also if they got wet.

We (my dh and I) have had several different doctors tell us the new balance is the best. I also swear by and wear crocs. The important thing is that you don't take new shoes to wear only the broken in pairs will work no matter what brand you go with. enjoy
