Just curious what kind of sunscreen everyone likes to use. I generally use Coppertone Oil Free SPF 15. I like it because it doesn't have the feel or smell of normal sunscreen. DBF doesn't like it though bc he doesnt feel like he is wearing sunscreen so he wears regular Coppertone SPF 15. I am bringing SPF 30 for our August trip though b/c I think we will end up wanting lots of sun protection. :sunny:

What kind of sunscreen does everyone use and/or recommend? :goodvibes

We like the Sea & Ski that does not have PABA. It has the new sunscreen product and works WAY better than PABA. I think its ingredient is Zinc Oxide.

Most of our family can and do use any brand, but I have one DS who has EXTREMELY sensitive skin. The only brand that we can use on him is Bullfrog. Anything else starts his skin burning and itching 2-3 minutes after application. The Bullfrog is great - it comes in the gel form, which we like, and is a very effective sunscreen.

ds uses coppertone surf which he loves... dh and i use sport pump spray and dd prefers the new continous spray stuff... and all of those are great for first morning applications... but, for re-applying sunblock in the parks, we LOVE spwipes (www.spwipes.com) which are moist towelettes that contain sunscreen... one is good for two or three of us to touch up midday, they are incredibly convenient, easy to carry, no mess, just the perfect sunscreen, imo! i highly recommend them! :sunny:

I really like the new Coppertone Sport Continuos Spray. What a fast way to put your sunscreen on. It's easy for my kids too. I got the SPF 30. :sunny:

Love, love, love...Coopertone Sport. It's the only one we've used for a couple of years now. Blends easily & really holds up to sweat & water.

I second the Bullfrog. I am VERY fair skinned, with a tendency towards pastiness :rotfl: I discovered Bullfrog Quic Gel Spray a few years ago, and have not looked back since.

DS uses it all summer long at day camp (they are outside 7 hours a day, and in the pool at least 2x) and he did not get burned Once last summer. And you know he was not concientious about reapplying........

We prefer the spray, but the gel is great too....

I used to love love love the oil-free coppertine. Then I tried Coppertone's Spectra 3. WOW. It does give you a feeling of having sunscreen on, but not too bad. Best testimony I can give you is that we applied it at the beginning of the day and didn't burn (or tan) in July and June in Florida. My dd swam at a neighbors pool with standard sunscreen and had pink cheeks. Yesterday, she swam for three hours with Spectra 3 (From 11:30 to 2:30!) with no pink.

Great stuff if what you want is protection (and no cocoa smell).

Australian Gold all the way- the spray kind.

My family is VERY fair-skinned (redheads) and we dont tan, we burn. We love the stuff because it doesnt smell like sunscreen. I cant explain what it does smell like but we love the stuff. We used to not be able to find it by us so we went on vacation and my mom shipped a case back to our house. We found it a few weeks later in the drug store- they started selling it . We spend all summer outside (camp in the past when we were little and now I lifeguard all summer) and rarely burn with the stuff.

We use Coppertone at home, but when we go to Florida we use Avon's sunscreen with bug repellant in it. That way we don't have to use two products.

I still bring a better sunscreen for our faces though that we use for touch ups.

I was using Coppertone for a long time, until I would up with massive sunburn on my legs while in WDW. A friend reccomended Bullfrog, which I have been using ever since. No problems - I love it!!

Another vote for Bullfrog. Since we started keeping it on our boat no more sunburns.

We buy Panama Jack while in FL. It is easier to locate in the spring & summer months than in winter even in FL. We cannot find this brand at home, so we stock up while in FL!

Another vote for Bullfrog here.

A question for all of you though, is there any type of sunscreen that I could use on my scalp without having my hair looking greasy? I'm having the typical thinning hair problem (and I'm not even 25) and if I don't wear a hat out in the sun my scalp will get burned pretty bad. Problem is I don't like to wear a hat all the time.

Just some advice to try the product prior to your trip. DD age 21, had NEVER had allergic reaction to anything other than penicillin, and extreme cold, but broke out in hives after using a new product. Thankfully it wasn't while at WDW. I understand that you can become allergic at any time.

We use Arbonne sunscreen...all of their skin care products actually...all natural and they work great and don't "feel" like you have anything on!

Alot of people here in the south swear by Bullfrog. It's waterproof and sweatproof. I have a son who is a soccer referee and he and his wife are always at the soccer field. All they'll use is Bullfrog and they never get sunburn, despite D-I-L being VERY fair skinned. I also burn easily and use either Bullfrog or Coppertone for Babies that has a 50 SPF. No way would I go to Florida with anything less than a SPF 45. Coppertone also make a sunscreen especially for the face and scalp that's in a little orange tube with a sponge dauber thingy on the end that goes on really dry, but works well. I got some at Wal Mart for my trip this past May.

There is a product by Banana Boat, which is specifically for your hair & scalp. It's in a pump spray bottle.. used to be ocean blue. It's an spf 15, and I use it on my kid's heads... short boys hair to protect the scalp when we go to the beach down in Sarasota... :sunny:
