What kind of summer shoes/sandals does your husband wear?

My husband has the very bad habit of waiting until the last minute to do anything. We hit Disney on April 25 and he doesn't have any good shoes for the park. He could wear sneakers, but I doubt he'd want to have them every day. He hates crocs, he hates tevas. I can only remember one pair of closed toe sandals that he really liked but when they wore out he never replaced them. I even bought him a pair of Lands' End trekker shoes because I like mine so much and he outright refused to even put them on his feet. He keeps mentioning he needs some flip flops, but I really hope he's not thinking that's what he's going to wear in the park for the whole day.

.....sigh....

So, just wondering what kind of shoes your DH wears that he really likes.

I suggested Keen and Merrells to him and he kind of grunted :confused3 He's driving me crazy! I personally think those would be great options, something that can get wet.

My husband likes Tevas, but also loves his Reef flip flops. I wear Reefs in the summer too, and have worn them in the parks all day, and I did fine.

My husband hated Crocs too until I found them with his favorite team logo and colors on them (Syracuse). Just a thought, maybe you could find them with his favorite sports team :cheer2:. My husband said he would wear anything with his favorite team on them!

My DH refuses to wear anything but his stinky old Nike's. :confused3
He would not even consider Crocs or any type of sandal shoe.

Oh well.

I am the husband. I wear sneakers in WDW parks EVERY time. I would NOT consider doing the amount of walking Disney parks require in anything else.

I personally hate sandals as well. I do have a pair of beach shoes that I wear to the beach and sometimes to the pool. I would wear them to a water park as well, but I do not like water parks.

Sneakers give me the foot support I need for the amount of walking necessary in Disney. I also wear them to work because of the hard concrete under the tile on the floors. (I am a teacher.)
Let him wear them in the parks every day. It works. :thumbsup2

My DH wears Reef flip-flops every day. I like that they are leather, and he seems comfortable in them. My sister's boyfriend wears Rainbows, which are another very high quality leather flip-flop. I would reccomend both.

My DH wears Chacos, but if your DH doesn't like Tevas, then Chacos are probably a no-go.

DH (and I for that matter) wears Teva mush flip-flops all day everyday in the summer. We walk several miles a day in them and I know many people have worn them to the parks. Maybe try a pair of those? You can often get them cheap online at Sierra Trading Post.

Dh has Chacos- doesn't love them
Teva's likes them

Keen Newport's - LOVES them! The newports run narrower than the Venice- so if he has a wide foot I would suggest the Venice H2o- Narrow- Newports.

My DH wears these in the summer and at Disney.....

They are both Crocs!

My DH agrees with you 100%!:thumbsup2

He does not wear sandals or flip flops. Other than sneakers he will only wear dress shoes or golf shoes when needed.

My DH HATES sandals or flip flops or Crocs too...he only wears sneakers (and dress shoes/boots to work). :goodvibes

Shoes that are meant to get really wet and keep on moving are the ONLY way to go at WDW. No problems on Splash, or Kali, or in the usual summer flash downpours that the Orlando parks are subject to. Just toss on the poncho and keep on going.

If he's a serious coaster enthusiast like my DH, only a full-foot athletic sandal will do. You want something that will stay on your foot on the inversions (like say, Hulk, over at USIOA) or even just foot-dangling rides like Soarin'. You also want a good supportive footbed, and you get that from brands that are made for folks who are porting kayaks between rivers. He isn't a Crocs wearer -- tried them and found the footbed not supportive enough for his needs.

DH has issues with stubbing his toes on things, so he always goes for something in a more-or-less fisherman style that guards the toes and covers at least about 60% of the foot. He has Keens that he likes, and he just bought some of the new Teva fisherman-type sandals for our next trip (really good sale). He does not like traditional strappy Tevas at all, but these new ones are very Keen-like.

DH never wore a sandal in his life until sometime after our first year of WDW trips, when he got really tired of getting blisters from wearing wet sneakers. He was 31 years old at the time. The sports sandals solved that problem, and now he has done a complete 180 switch, and never wears anything BUT sandals in warm weather except to work (they don't go that well with suits, LOL). He now even owns nice leather street sandals that he wears with sportswear in summer. Not only are they comfortable, but since DH prefers to do his own laundry, they are labor-savers, too -- fewer socks to wash, sort and put away.

For winter trips in weather too cool for sandals, our entire family wears exactly the same shoe: Merrell Jungle Mocs. Warm, supportive, and while not immersible, quite water-resistant.

BTW, for people with REAL issues with arch support, Bite brand sandals are a good choice. They make sandals that will accept an Rx orthotic insole.
