We are starting to plan our trip for Feb or March 2006. It will be me, DH, and our DS who will be one at the time. We are planning to take a stroller, but I'm wondering if we should take our big travel system stroller or a smaller stroller. (right now I only own the big one, but I've been looking at the lightweight, more compact strollers that still recline and have a sunshade e.g. MacLaren) I also own a baby backpack carrier, but I can't see how I could take that on the plane. What has worked for you in the past? Suggestions? Comments? We are planning to stay at the Yacht Club in case that factors in to your advice!

We were just there in October and we bought a Combi Soho Sport for the trip. It reclines and has a sunshade. I think the Combi's and Maclaran's are comparable.

It was really easy to fold up and it didn't take up much space on the buses.

Have a great trip.

I agree with the previous poster. We just got back and had a Maclaren Volo, but our dd is much older. This was a GREAT stroller though so I would look at a Mac that has many more bells and whistles than our Volo like recline and canopy. They are a great lightweight stroller and they are not cumbersome on the busses and the carry strap is great! Make an investment in a good stroller for a few more bucks and you will be happy. Wish I had seen these Macs years ago and I would have saved tons of money on all the strollers I have bought and worn out over the years.

I would get a lightweight, umbrella stroller like the Maclaran Quest for a child over age one. It's so convenient for the buses, monorail, boats etc...and still comfy for the child.

I would not take your big one. I would buy one and make sure for a 1 year old that it:

Reclines
Has a sunshade
Has a basket

I would buy it NOW and USE IT for the next few months so that it is familiar. I was so glad we took a familiar stroller with us (we took our smaller 2nd stroller). He was so good in it and I really feel it was a comfort for him to have something familiar in a place so unfamilar.

Anyone have suggestions on the double stroller front? DD4 and DS 1 1/2...

If I buy a new stroller now, will it get all beat up on the trip to Disney? I don't want to ruin a brand new stroller! I guess I would carry it on the plane, so I'm thinking that shouldn't be too bad, but maybe I'm missing something!

Hello.
I have traveled to WDW with my DS three times this year and he isn't even one yet. He will be on Dec. 16th.For my last trip in October I bought a Combi Savy Soho stroller. I love this stroller and would give it two thumbs up!!! I was traveling alone with him so for the convience I got a smaller stroller I could handle alone. It is very light weight, has a strap to hang over your shoulder, has a basket and a sun shade. Although I did bring my kidopatamus sun shade for extra protection. The stroller was great because I was able to carry my DS in one arm and throw the stroller over the other and get on and off the busses with no problems. By the way my stroller was brand new and it din't get beat up in disney or on the plane. It did come with a cover if you want to have extra protection when you take it on the plane. Although I din't use it. Have a great trip.

Alot of people will tell you to get something small, but I say take something with all the comforts and deal with the hassle of taking it on busses and stuff. Cup holders, full recline, and bug basket are all must haves at that age and worth the effort of bringing.

Dont bring the backpack. Bring a front carrier. There are loads of places you cant take the stroller. A front carrier is great because you can put the baby in it and use it on rides and in shows, rather than having to take it off and on alot.

We just did a trip in September and used a Mac Volo and a Peg Pliko P3. The were both wonderful. I can't rave enough about my P3 though for the younger children. The sunshade is wonderful on it and the recline was perfect for my 18 mth old. The snack tray and foot pegs for the older kid to hop I could not do without. I also loved the compact fold for getting on the buses and while it wasn't as light as the Volo, it was still light enough for me to handle comfortably. The basket was not too shabby, but I added a SkipHop Duo diaper bag to the back and lots of storage options. Check out a P3 if you are in the market for a new one for Disney. It was perfect for us.

We brought a Pliko P3 this past summer and loved it. The sunshade is fantastic and will lower all the way to the snack tray to provide complete sun protection. The upholstery is cushy and it has full recline for naps. it collapsed super easy. It weighs 17 pounds and has a convenient carry handle. We also brought a Maclaren Twin Traveller with us (we travel with 3 little boys 5, 2 1/2, and 9 months). All 3 boys rotated through both strollers. The TT fit perfectly through doorways and also onto the launch from WL to MK. Both strollers came with raincovers which we used regularly back in August. Try Ebay for a secondhand to save $$. We ordered our TT from Albeebaby.com, last year's model with free shipping. Hope this helps!
