what kind of stroller to rent for older kids?

I'm on the fence with the stroller issue.
We'll be going June/July, when it's really hot. As much as my kids love to drink water and stay hydrated, it is just hot for them to be walking all the time.

A few years ago, I bought a double McLaren which worked up to 100pounds. Now DD 8 and DD4 are over the 100 pound marker. We have a single Combi that I use for the 4 year old for various charitable walks that I have done recently and she fits fine and it serves the purpose.

Do you think 8 (a healthy girl) is too old to be in a stroller - even if its a rented Disney stroller?

My youngest, who is 8, has asthma but is physically fit otherwise. She has not used a stroller in Disney ever. We did have one given to us the first trip by people leaving the parks while we were entering for MNSSHP but she would NOT ride in it.

Give your child a chance and IF she gets really bad and stopping for a rest or a show does not help than rent one at the park or let her ride and let DD4 walk. I would not rush to say she needs a stroller because many times the kids really wouldn't ask for one unless they know one is available.

Honestly, I don't feel a child that age, barring any special needs or disability, truly needs a stroller. I guess maybe the stroller thing is regional because every kid we saw from our schools in the past trips we have taken were walking the whole time.

ETA: I also don't see how people can be comfortable if they are pushing a stroller with a combined weight of almost 90 pounds or more.

Does anyone know if the Disney strollers in the park have any kind of area to store things in? We rented one at Sea World and it had a mesh type bag strapped to the back that allowed us to put things in. Just wondering if I need to buy a mommy hook.

When our son got older and didn't want to use the stroller, we decided the two of us needed to slow down to match his speed. It made it a lot nicer trip for all three of us. We always get to the parks as early as possible to take advantage of the short lines and cooler temps. Then we head back to the resort for a swim and/or nap. By around 5PM, we're rested and ready to head back to the parks.

That's what works for us. And we don't carry all sorts of stuff with us either. Anyone who wants to bring something, has to carry it themself. I'm nobody's pack mule.

I would go with Kingdom Strollers. The were so nice about everything. They even included some "tips" about the parks and having that parent console was soooo nice. They were cheaper than anyone else we found also. Our friends did not heed our warning about setting up a rental ahead of time. They finally called Kingdom Strollers while they were in the park and Kingdom Strollers brought it to them at Magic Kingdom! They were so impressed.

Why didn't your friends just rent a stroller at the park? :confused3

Why do you have only 2 posts? Do you work for Kingdom strollers?

Kingdom strollers isn't the cheapest! For the 75 lb stroller, themeparkstrollers.com is cheaper for those strollers and doubles if you look at the internet prices!

I feel in love with the City strollers...I think they are the ones in the Orlando Stroller Rentals banner I have at the top of my page. We decided not to get one and just reused one of my older DD's old ones for the baby, but I was looking to rent one for her at WDW before that. If I recall, the double WAS big enough for the big DD.
