What kind of Refrigerator do you have?

OK, I LIED! :confused2

No, I just looked, it's a Frigidaire, not a Kenmore. We bought it at Sears so I guess that's why I got mixed up :confused3

We did the same thing. I wanted a Kitchenaid and found a model that I liked. When we went to Lowe's, there was a Whirlpool that was exactly identical to the Kitchenaid model. We bought the Whirlpool (side by side) and it cost about $200 less than the Kitchenaid. We have had it for about 7 months now and are happy with it.

Before we bought the new one, we had a Frigidaire that was plagued with problems. No more Frigidaire in our house!;)

Just got a GE Profile Artica a monthago. It is a side by side(it replaced a almost 30 yr old green GE side by side). it has a stailnless front with ice and water thru the door- has a water filter onit- and we are all drinking more water because of it. Has a quick chill fezture- chilla can of soda in 15min. or a you can use the same draw to defrost meat quickly. Has a large basket in freezer for frozen pizza etc. We have to cut off the cupboard above the fridge to fit this one in- also had tos crape three layers of wallpaper for it to fit in. Bought it at sears was on sale- got a rebate on delivery and no interest for one year.

I just bought a GE side by side a few weeks ago. I HATE side by sides! The freezers are sooooooooooo small. And I have only 2 drawers in the fridge. :( The top is full size, the bottom is about half that size. :( I was looking at a beautiful one with the freezer on the bottom and rolled out! Would have loved that one...except for the price tag! :faint: The freezer was huge!

Me too! I love the "ice cream shelf" above the ice tray and the "frozen pizza shelf" beside the ice tray! So handy :) My only complaint is that the deli drawer on mine isn't big enough. We usually have lots of cheeses and deli meats on hand, and that drawer is always stuffed! Love the gallon size door storage, the basket drawers in the bottom of the freezer are handy....just love this fridge! It was about $1150 at Lowes Sept '02.

For years DW has been bugging me to replace our 10 year old refrigerator. There is nothing wrong with it. It is a 22 cubic foot freezer on the top Whirlpool. She wants a freezer on the bottom because she is tired of bending to see what is in back of the refrigerator. Last week was her birthday, so I selected an Amana model I liked from the web site and checked it out at the local store. I printed out a picture and put it in her birthday card. when I gave her the card she said "Kind of small for a refrigerator". She opened it and was very happy that I finally agreed to get it. I did not want to buy it without her seeing it. She called around for prices and then went over to the local store to see it. She loved it and they beat all the other places for price. It was delivered last week. It is a 25 cubic foot stainless steel Amana with the freezer on the bottom. She loves it. It is very nice. I like it because it is so big.

Unfortunately, one that runs...:p

No, seriously speaking, it's a General Electric and the thing is THIRTY YEARS OLD and STILL GOING STRONG!! :teeth:

Now that I've said THAT, the darn thing'll probably break down!

I've been wanting a NEW refrigerator for YEARS!!! I want one with water and ice through the door!! Every time we go to Sears I walk through the refrigerator section, just drooling....

We have a Sub-Zero -Freezer on Bottom model as our "main" unit, and our spare fridge is a GE Profile Arctica Side by Side. DW loves the GE, but when we moved to the new house it was relegated to back-up/extra space duty. The bottom freezer is tough compared to the side by side if you go into the freezer often - you have to shuffle stuff around quite a bit. The GE fridge is huge even compared to the Sub-z. The Sub-Z is a built-in and doesn't have the depth we'd like. The GE Arctica's come as big as you could possibly need.

Toy Story Fan - I am glad to hear your comment on the built-in refrigerator's depth. We considered a "counter depth" model which wouldn't stick out as much. It also has less room inside and costs more. Not sure why anyone would choose it. Also our bottom freezer is a drawer that slides out to view what in there. I would never buy a bottom freezer refrigerator without a drawer. Can't imagine getting down on my hands and knees to see what is in the back of the freezer.

We bought the Kenmore Trio in Stainless steel when we moved into our new house. Fridge up top with 2 "side-by-side" doors and the bottom freezer that pulls out. There is a water dispenser inside the left upper door and the ice maker in the freezer takes up only less then half of the top shelf.

the fridge is honkin' HUGE and I love it.

in our old house we had a Kenmore bottom freezer (door - not drawer though) and I liked that too. but the Trio is just so slick lookin'.

stinkerbelle - Way back in the late 60's, my older cousin had a Westinghouse refrigerator with the same door arrangement as the Kenmore Trio. I think it may have been light blue or tourquoise. It was very expensive and very nice. Way ahead of its time. I looked in the Trio and came close to choosing it, but could not get my cousins blue Westinghouse out of my mind everytime I saw it.

I was surprised to read that the Amana was out of your price range because when I bought mine it was the best buy I could find. I remodeled my Kitchen about 5 years ago and wanted a Stainless steal fridge and the only ones out there were the sub zero's and this one I bought made by amana. It has the ice/crushed and water in the door, lots of freezer space and a beverage chiller in the fridge side (perfect for frosty milk). We have a builders supply store here that offers appliances at a pretty good discount, might look an see if there is one in your area. If I had waited a year, I prolly could have done better because "everyone" came out with stainless.

I'm sorry...seriously - only in the 60's could you buy a fridge in either light blue/turquoise! HAHAHa

We have a Roper (like from 3's company). It is made by one of the bigger companies and just has a different name and costs less. It is a huge side by side with ice maker and water available without opening door. Had it for 10 years and touch wood going strong.

amid chaos - no I just have the Maytag Plus it's a side-by-side I wanted the wide-by-side but it wouldn't fit. I would have had to give up the under counter trash in order for it to fit.
How does your DH like the wide one?

stinkerbelle, glad to hear that you love your trio! We just bought one and it will be delivered in two weeks (we need some time to enlarge the space for it!). I have seriously wanted one since the first time I saw it and I have wanted a bottom mount freezer since I first saw one in my friend's mom's kitchen 20 years ago! I'm glad the bottom mount freezers are back and style and you're right, the trio doors are just TOO slick.

It honestly took me a few days to get used to 2 doors up top...and usally ended up opening both...but we've gotten better!

my mom is so jealous - she fell in love with it too...DH and I really had to save up to get this fridge - purely for the slick factor of it's looks! (and neither one of us were fans of traditional side-by-sides)

yeah - our builder had to build our kitchen around this fridge - had to make all the upper cabinets higher because this thing is so large!

hope you enjoy your new fridge!

bottom mount fridges just make more sense - hot air rises/cold air falls down - just makes sense to have the freezer on the bottom!

Tonight I ended up buying a 22 cubic freezer on the bottom in black. I appreciate all your comments and help. This fridge is by ammana and it is going to fit in my spot perfect without getting rid of cabinets (the kitchen is only 14 yrs old) so I am tickled pink :D
