What kind of rates are you getting from National?

We're going to WDW the last week of September. We've booked on EA at National for $189 for 8 days. I've seen much lower rates for earlier in the summer. This was using Priceless and the Entertainment coupon. Is this the best I can do for this time period, or is anyone else having better luck? Do rates usually drop closer to the date?

Obviously, this is not a bad rate, but I'd love to get some of the prices I've seen others getting - I guess I have rate envy. ;)

June has some great rates, but I'm looking for July and I've only found about the same as you.($206 total for 8 days) The current codes are only good through 6/28 so I am hoping the rates drop in the next few weeks. I guess they had some good July rates a few months ago, but I didn't plan this trip that far in advance.

I have great rates for this month, but later seems to be higher.

Last year I paid 184.10 in August for a week all in. I think the low rates we are seeing right now are more of a product of the start of ME and the rental car companies trying to compete. I think your rate is more typical of what it normally is.

Duds

I'm a bit frustrated as well. I have $206 for Aug 21-28, and it seems high. I'm hoping for some new codes!

I also think that ME has a lot to do with the current rise in rental car costs. However, I have found I can get MUCH lower rates with National, by picking up at the Car Care Center in WDW, and dropping the car off at MCO on our last day. We plan to use ME to get to our resort (CSR) and then take the complimentary shuttle to the rental desk.
The National website can be very temperamental! Last night I typed in all my info over and over using same dates, codes, etc. About the 14th time the rates dropped by more than half at CCC and I booked before it got away!
The things we do to make a WDW vacation affordable... !!!

That's interesting! What's the code for the car care center? I'd thought of this, too, and if the rate was a lot better, we may go this route.

I have found $159 for Sept 25-Oct 2 picking up and dropping off at MKCCC or the Dolphin

try the AMEX code (with ENT coupon) ~ it made my rate drop waaaaaay down
:goodvibes

What is the AMEX code? Can it be used with priceless and entertainment coupon?

I used the Entertainment coupon code and an additional one that I got off mousesavers. Our dates are June 22-29 with a midsize for $107.00 that includes estimated taxes and fees. We will get the car at the car care center because we are using ME to get us back and forth from the airport. The car is really for back up in case the buses from POR are a nightmare due to the large crowds expected.

For October renting 10 days, I have $144. (National)

But do try both the Priceless and the Am. Ex. codes, some work better on different ressies, not sure if the time of the year has anything to do with it.
If you go with the Am. Ex. code, just be sure to have that cc with you, just in case they ask to see it.

:earsgirl: :earsboy:

I have $158 for July 15-24. I booked many months ago, and I am very thankful I did it then! We used entertainment and Priceless codes.

:teeth: I've got a MiniVan on ER for $254.00 for June 13-23 using Priceless and EC. Cheepest I've seen anywhere.

I got $174 for full size, Emerald Reserve, 10 days (8/24 - 9/2), picking up and returning to MCO. I used Priceless code and ENT Book coupon. I booked it back in March and have watched the price go up and down a few times, but it hasn't gotten as low as what I already have it booked for. I keep checking weekly to see if it will drop. It seems recently that the price tends to drop several weeks before hand.

Here's the AMEX Contract ID - 5125601
You can only use one contract ID and one coupon. If you combine the Entertainment coupon with the AMEX ID you must put the reservation on your AMEX card.

I just reserved a full-size for 8 days in Dec for $137, including taxes/fees, etc. using Entertainment Book Coupon. I thought this was a pretty good price compared to all the others I've seen.

According to MouseSavers, you don't have to put the car on an American Express card. They do say that you should *have* your AmEx card with you in case National asks for it.

agnes!

*For my dates(August 10-17) I have an Emerald Reserve/Full-size(actually just counter service), pickup at Magic Kingdom Car Care Center, drop off at MCO for a total(including taxes/fees/etx) of $184.

Matdamom, I think that's a very good price!

I checked again after you posted this, and mine still hasn't changed. But if I made it a day shorter, I'd save $.73. I thought I'd just go for the extra day :rotfl: .

What's weird, is even with the exact same code and coupon, changing the pickup day by one day changed the entire way they did the discount. My base rate went up $50! But some other stuff went down, and I randomly got an extra $20 off, hence all told, saving me $.73.

I also think you should spring for the extra day! :)
To make my reservation I went through the link on the Entertainment Book website because trying to do all the discounts through National's site made my head hurt - it was so strange and kept giving me weird errors. :confused3
