What kind of rates are you getting from National?

Yes, you have to be a member, which means you have to buy an Entertainment Book. I bought one for our local area for some restaurant discounts, but the travel coupons are good for anywhere. Right now, the books are $9.99, I think. I think they expire in November? I'm not sure about that, though. Anyhoo - if you are going before the book expires, it might be worth it to get one. I'm going to get another one when the new ones come out, for our trip in Dec. However, if you know anyone who has a book and won't be using their National Coupons, they might just send you a coupon to use. You have to turn in the coupon when you pick up the car, I think. At least that's what I understand according to these threads. :p

Yes, we used to buy them all the time, but they kept discontinuing the places we liked to use them for, so we stopped getting it.

It's funny, I just realized that I already tried the contract ID you were using, and it still comes out at $150 for the weekly rate (total of $205). So either my days just don't have the same deal, or you get a different answer on the official Entertainment web site.

That's an awesome weekly rate!

To do it through the site, you have to be a member?

no......just click thru the Ent coupon link on mousesavers.com, then print the coupon on national's site.

I've been checking the rate for early November for several months and it's beyond awful. EA with Priceless code is ~ $192 for 4 days!!!!!! Can't use a coupon because we don't meet the weekend requirements. We might end up staying 6-7 days, and then I can qualify for the weekly rate and use the Entertainment coupon for a rate of ~ $210. Still very, very bad rate but better than the 4 day rate.

I was really lucky this year, probably due to ME. :cool1: I booked everything really early. My 10 day June-July rates EA intermediate, priceless, and entertainment coupon current quote is $146.

My October 10 day with the same codes is $156. Last year I was in the $250-300 range and considered that good. Note I booked this in April. Quotes have skyrocketed since then.

My December 6 day is $96. Again, I have a ressie that was confirned 3 months ago.

Here's the AMEX Contract ID - 5125601
You can only use one contract ID and one coupon. If you combine the Entertainment coupon with the AMEX ID you must put the reservation on your AMEX card.

I go back and forth between the Am. Ex. code and the Priceless code, but I have never had to use my Am. Ex. card to pay for the ressie, never.

But if you do use the Am. Ex. code, please have the card with you, just to show it if they should ask.

:wave2: Hello,
I know you asked about national, but I was checking the different car companies and Thrifty has a minivan for 7 days at a rate of $158 :cool1: using the WMRT code from MCO. Mousesavers said the small print regarding using the walmart credit card should be disregarded. Hope it helps  .

matdamom - I have a really high rate for 9 days in July and had not thought of going through the Entertainment book site. I got all excited when I saw a rate similar to yours...but then I realized my goof that I had put in June instead of July. :badpc: I'm determined to keep looking...

Ncbryne-

I was thinking of doing something similar to your plan, but I was going to get the car at MCO & then return it at Car Care Center but wasn't sure if the shuttle back to the resort had a fee or not. Also, not sure if we can take the ME to the airport if we didn't take it to the resort originally?? Does anyone know??
Thanks!

The shuttle from the CCC (National/Alamo) is free.

Yes, you can use ME back to the airport if you did not take it in.

I have a full-sized car 9/24-10/2 for $142.31 - but I booked it in March. So far I haven't been able to beat it yet.

Just checked my 6/14-23 ressie and it dropped 3 bucks. Every bit helps. This is for an intermediate, using priceless and ent. book coupon. $124.56 all in.

I'm getting $186.24 for Sept 18-23, intermediate using Emerald Aisle, $20 off coupon from Entertainment Book, and the Priceless Code. The Amex code is about forty dollars more.

Just for kicks, I still have the old Carlson Wagonlit code, and it is the same price as Priceless.

I'm going to keep trying.

All of the specials seem to end on 6/28. I'm hoping that means new ones will come out for the fall soon, and maybe change our rates a bit? Anyone have any experience with when the lowest rates can be had relative to your travel dates?

It sounds like some of you got great rates by booking really far out though, and I obviously missed that. But hanname to all of you!

My 10 day emerald aisle with the priceless code and entertainment coupon 6/25-7/5 is now down to $141.28 :cool1:

I took a look at what the quote started in February and it has gone down about $50

jnrrt, there appears to be not so much of a rhyme or reason with the "low rates" this year. For my June dates, the rates have gone down relatively consistent (couple of increases here and there) from when I first started looking in February. This year I am surprised that rates at this point continue to fall - usually in the couple of weeks before the date they actually rise.

Also, I suggest you keep checking until right before you go.

Thanks, Magsmom, and I'd love to know if others start finding lower rates for the fall.
