What kind of poncho do you use?

Disney all the way. Cheapos are like wrapping yourself up in saran wrap!! Put a Target bag in your backpack and after the rain stops, roll em up nice and tight, put them in the bag and jam them into the bottom of your pack. When you get back to you room, take them out and hang em up on a hanger to dry overnight.

On a totally different note, me and my son laugh our butts off :rotfl2: every trip at the "cheap" people who spend thousands on their WDW trip - but refuse to spend $10 on a poncho - opting to get drenched instead!

I bought the pack of 24 disposable ponchos on Amazon. We used them almost every day on our trip last July. They were small, light and super convenient. It was nothing to throw 5 ponchos in our bag for the day, put them on when the rain came and throw them away when the rain stopped. They never ripped and kept us dry.

But a terrible waste for the landfills!!!

Used dollar store ponchos once and never again! Too small and too thin, it ripped the first time I put it on. We bought Disney ones a few years ago and have been bringing them with us ever since. They are longer and thicker, and if they rip, Disney will replace them for free.. You definitely get what you pay for.

We have Stormtech ponchos for about 4 years, they are coated nylon. I think they are more comfortable, and lots larger, than the others. My 6'2" big guy finally has a poncho that goes to or past his knees and that covers him when he sits down. If you are a frequent park visitor you may want to consider them.

We bring both a few disposable ponchos each, and a durable Disney poncho each on every trip. If rain is fairly certain, we're sure to carry the Disney ponchos with us. They are roomier and easier to get on and off if you're going to be wearing them for any length of time.
If the forecast is clear (or as close as you get in FL), we make sure to each have a disposable poncho in the bags when we leave for the parks. They take up very little room, and are certainly better than getting caught with nothing in the event of a surprise shower. We also use them if we're going on Splash or Kali River mid-day, and don't want to be damp for the rest of the day. We stay as dry as we can on the ride with them, and then either tuck them in a belt to dry off, or just throw them away when we get off the ride.
Same thing we do, we use the cheap ones for the rides mostly. We usually end up throwing them away after awhile. We also have the Disney ones and wear them if it is raining a lot They tend to make me feel hot because they are thicker.

By the time I get to Disney, I have already gone over the budget. Gotta cut somewhere. Lol. I have never had a problem with the cheap ones either

After using (and re-using) our Disney ponchos for years, last year I found some long rain coats on Amazon for $10-$12. They are made from a similar material as the ponchos, but are quicker to get on for my parents (both in their 80's). They are longer than the ponchos too (so no worries about a soggy bottom from sitting on a wet bench), and I think they have drawstrings in the hood (they're packed away, otherwise I'd run and check).

This sounds like exactly what I've been looking for. On our last trip to EPCOT this past April, it rained off and on all day long which meant that we were putting ponchos off and on also. I found them to be difficult to deal with and was wishing that I had a long, lightweight rain coat instead. I am planning another visit in July so I'll check out Amazon - thanks for the info.

We bring both types. The dollar tree ones are great for the water rides because they are disposable. We give them to people in line if they want them. At Kali we have always found a willing taker. They work okay for a short time in the rain but I wouldn't stay out in the rain for long.

ALWAYS have used Disney ponchos for the past 10 years with no complaints. Plus - they'll exchange them for free if they rip, tear or lose those little snaps!

I wish I had known this! One of the snaps ripped off of DF's during our last trip.

I used reusable ponchos last trip, but I'm thinking about bringing disposable ones this time. I hated stuffing them back into my backpack- I could never get them folded back to a small size. My backpack is always stuffed (DS is 8 and don't use a stroller, I miss it though for storage haha), so I'm trying to minimize what I bring with me this time.

I didn't realize Disney would replace them if they ripped, etc...that's good to know!

For those who use Disney Ponchos...what are your tips for rolling those things up and putting them back in a backpack after the rain stops? We had them during one trip (I tossed them because they got ripped...if only I knew!)...and they were really cumbersome to put away once they were used and the sun came back out!
We put our 4 adult ponchos rolled up tightly in a large ziplock. When we get back to the room we spread them out so they can dry.

We always have a stockpile of disposable ponchos at home. We bring 2 or 3 per person for our summer WDW trips.
