What kind of lightbulbs at Disney resorts

I can’t believe I didn’t think of this until now. We are one week out from our trip. We are staying at All Star Music family suite. My 10 year old son is highly sensitive to migraines triggered by fluorescent light. He wears special glasses to mitigate the problem at school and we have no CFL lightbulbs in our home. Does anyone know if Disney uses CFL lightbulbs or other fluorescent lights in their rooms? If you are staying at All Star Music can you check the lamps and see if they are the CFL light bulbs? I would really appreciate it. If they are I need to find some room in my luggage to bring my own light bulbs. I am not going to let these migraines ruin anything else for him.

Thank you!

I'm not sure but I'd call the resort direct. The front desk may ( or may not ) know but they might be able to get someone in maintenance at the location to answer the question for you. Try 407-939-6000.

Thank you! I will call in the morning!

Contact Disability Services at (407) 560-2547 and see if they can get the information you need; also discuss options with you as they may have some solutions if the rooms normally do have CFL.

I now wear my Axon Optics glasses all the time and they make a massive difference in the frequency and intensity of my migraines, though as with your son doesn't eliminate them. Hopefully he has a migraine-free trip !!

Please use caution when using CFL due to the mercury levels, please consider the newer led options for for safety and to reduce mercury exposure and extra hasdard wasite in the event a a breakage.

Thank you! My son has Thermaspecs, but I suspect they are the same thing, different brand.

That was so easy! I called the disability number and she said they no longer have any fluorescent lights in the rooms in ASM. We will bring the glasses for the airplane/airport etc and of course verify when we arrive but I feel a lot better!

TheraSpecs ? Yes, they are the same. Axon Optics was the original developer which is why I went with them.

Good news for you re: no CFLs !!

I wear my glasses almost the time now. Even normal light and sunlight has the same frequencies and studies have shown that those with migraines who are light sensitive are actually light sensitive all the time. Both the TheraSpec and Axon Optics websites have some really good articles about the issue. I have darker tinted ones for outside and there is a noticeable difference between them and normal sunglasses even though they are not as "dark" as sunglasses. For indoors I have a lighter tint. At home I don't always wear them inside, but I do when outside the home whether indoors or out. For WDW and DCL I wear one pair or the other all the time -- I'd rather wear them and possibly prevent an issue than not :-)

Enjoy your trip !

Yes Theraspecs, oops. I think it would be a good idea to have him wear them all time. He does not get migraines outside in natural light, but at Disney we are in and out constantly and who knows what the quality of light is in every queue, restaurant, attraction.
