I have an aunt and an uncle who are opening a flower shop on Sunday. I'm going to the grand opening and have no idea what to buy them. (I obviously can't send flowers, LOL). They don't drink so wine, champagne are out of the question. They sell balloons there and some kinds of gifts. Anyone have any ideas???? HELP!!!

How about a frame so they can display their first dollar earned there? Also, how about a cute picture of the family, to display behind the counter?

try this site. http://www.mrsbeasleys.com/

You can also do a picnic basket with cheese & crackers and grape juice instead of wine.
Buy a microwave popcorn bucket and fill it with a movie they'd like some movie theater candy and a couple of sodas.
Find a nice frame, go there with a digital camera and take a nice photo, disappear to the local drug store, print out and cut said picture, and return with this "gift"

The first dollar in a frame. Many of the Local shops/restraunts here do that and I always thought it was neat. Some the restraunts also put a pic of the first customers as well with the dollar and let them write some well wishes.... buy a bigger frame say 8*10, take 4*6 photo of first customers, have them put well wishes on matting and place in frame with photo and dollar... it will be a memory and look nice on the wall.

Just an idea....

Thanks for the replies...any other ideas???

perhaps a nice "welcome" sign or mat?

I like the website that custom cuts picture mats with whatever word you want. You could use "welcome," "Flowers", or perhaps their last name, or maybe the date, or even the year. Then they can put either pics of their arrangements in it, or their customers.

btw. I found it by clicking on a journal link here on disboards. I don't know whose it was, but if it was you, then THANKS!

How about an add announcing the opening of the store in the local paper?

Cookie bouquet. Looks nice, tastes even better. And seems oddly appropriate for a flower shop.

How about a buffet gift certificate or a dinner certificate so that they can both celebrate the grand opening of their florist. They could use it anytime they wish and they will think of you when they are dining on their dinner.

teachingmyown: That memory mat website is TOO COOL! I'm going to use it for gifts in the future.

Thanks for the link! Just another chance to say: I love the DIS!!!

What about a scrapbook? You could have a page or two that everyone coming to the grand opening can sign. You could give them a disposable camera to keep behind the counter. It would be neat to have there when people come in for special orders or just for them to take pictures of their different arrangements. It would be neat for them to keep the book in the store for customers to look through as they start filling it up.
