Poll coming... spinoff of the Buffalo Wild Wings thread :)

DH and I are diner, drive-in, and dive kinda people:woohoo:!!!!

We are headed out to Pittsburg in a week with another couple. Going mainly to experience Permanti Brothers. Saw this on the Travel Channel and want to see for ourselves!!!!

ETA: Also want to visit Denny's Beer Barrel Pub, home of the world's largest hamberger challenges!!! You gotta see this one!! http://www.dennysbeerbarrelpub.com/...-newsnew-record&catid=1:latest-news&Itemid=27

I like the local mexican taco shops. I don't consider them fast food there is no drive thru and the stuff isn't all that fast. It is a convience food though.
I can barely tolerate fast food any more, it seems like all the food there tasts the same. The french fries taste the same as the cheeseburgers. We had taco bell the other night for the first time in more then a year. It just tasted gross to me.

Actually Have fun In PGH !! It really is a great city!
(Church Brew Works is a really cool place to eat too, with great food!)

To answer the orignial post, I like to cook for ourselves or goto local places. I really am not a fast food/ chain kind of girl.

Looks like I had better stretching my jaw muscles!!!! I can't wait until DH gets home to show him the picture:scared1:!!!!

I said other. I like good, interesting food (you know, the type that has a paragraph-long description :lmao:), but we have so many good, casual independently owned restaurants. I really don't like to dress up very much. I do not like fast food at all, and really don't like chains very much - they're good in a pinch if we're in an area without real restaurants, though.

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives Baby! :thumbsup2

We're not fancy food people. We like steak, ribs, fried seafood.

I enjoy chain restaurants such as Olive Garden, Bravo, Maggiano's, TGI Fridays, Chili's etc. I know what I am getting with those places.

We love Primantis! I hope you like it, too. Go with a big appetite--those sandwiches are huge!

You're killin' me here! I wish I had my fingers around one of those sandwiches now!

Have you ever been to this restaurant? http://www.hofbrauhauspittsburgh.com/

My BIL and SIL like it and sometime when we're in the Burg visiting we hope to all go there together.

I'd rather eat at a locally owned place that is unique to the city we're in than at a chain, but I like food from chains too. Fast food is a convenience but I don't seek out fast food places unless we need a quick meal.

I love to cook (and bake) so I prefer to just cook myself. We hardly ever go out to eat, plus DH is a very picky eater so its just easier.

Local restaurants- the kind owned by a family- but not a dive. They are few and far between now- chains have taken over.:sad2:

No I have not , yet. But from many people I have heard that you go there for the beer, not the food. If you are looking for beer/good food I would do the Penn brewery or the church brew works. If you get up farther north in Slippery Rock there is a microbrewery called Northcountry Brewing, excellent food and beer.

Homemade food that someone else made. :goodvibes

I also eat a lot of take out Thai food. It's not in the budget, but that never seems to stop me.

I went for other/combination as it depends where we are and what we are doing! On holiday we can try all of the above types of restaurants and also cook for oursleves if necessary.

:)

Claire ;)

Thanks for the recommendations! Dh's family is German, and I think they are drawn to that particular place for the German atmosphere. I've never been there, so I don't know what it's like. When I went to the website, I immediately thought of Epcot's Biergarten! :)

I'm a SRU alum, though back in my time there it was a dry town! We haven't been up that way in almost 20 years. My ILs live in Irwin, so Slippery Rock is a bit of a haul but I'd love to visit the campus. If we ever make it up that way, I'll get a sub at Bob's Subs and will try a beer at the "new" restaurant. I wouldn't mind checking out the new-to-us outlets in Grove City, too!

It all depends on what we're doing and where we're at. We don't eat out much at home and I'm a pretty good cook. We like places like Buffalo Wild Wings for lunches when we're down in the city, and if we're going out for something special we tend to find quirky little places or nice dress up restaurants, depending on our mood. When we travel, all bets are off. We're not picky eaters at all, and we'll try anything from dives to gourmet dining. The only thing that we're not fans of is fast food; it just isn't worth the money or the trip.

We like to patronize locally owned, small mom and pop type places- especially ethnic restaurants. We have faves here in our little suburb of Charlotte in many cuisines- Lebanese, Turkish, East European (from the country of Georgia), Moroccan, Thai, Korean, Italian, Carolina BBQ, Peruvian, sushi, and Greek. We aren't big chain restaurant types, nor do we do much simple, basic food like steak or burgers.
