I have had mine on science diet and they just keep gaining wait and don't seem to like it much. And it is so expensive!
I have been reading reviews on Beneful and seems like people are happy with that. So I was wondering what you feed your dogs!
In case it matters, I have a lab/dalmation mix, chihuahua and a cocker spaniel.

Um, DOG FOOD. DUH!!! :lmao:

Sorry, just couldn't resist the dorky response.

It is one of the Purina brands, but I cannot recall the name right now. They like it though

I had to go look. My wife buys those large bags of science diet.

When my golden gained too much weight, I switched him to an RD type of dog food. It was amazing. He slimmed down and did not regain the weight.

I'm guessing that the rd stands for reduced diet? I had actually put mine on a reduced diet (by science diet) and the vet had me take them off. Because of the fiber intake, my dog was going to the bathroom 10 times a day and then started to refuse food. So then she went back on regular science diet. But the vet said to try different brands because some tend to make you gain more than others.
I think I will try beneful and see how it works. I was just curious on what all the others were feeding theirs! Thanks

Chicken Soup For The Dog Lover's Soul and at Costco brand Kirkland dog food ( I believe Diamond makes it for them) are two that I have heard are less expesive and healthy.

I feed my dogs Solid Gold and RAW. Solid Gold is not cheap though.

We feed high quality food - saves us money in food and vet costs (and yard duty!). http://www.dogaware.com/dogfeeding.html#commercial and http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/ are good places to start. I have found that quality food is hard to find at big box stores and never found at grocery/super stores.

We recently switched to a grain free food now sold at Costco - it's called Nature's Domain. We feed the salmon meal and sweet potato formula. Cost is AMAZING and the quality is on par with any high end grain free formula.

In the past, we've fed California Natural, Canidae, Nature's Balance, Wellness, Solid Gold, and Kirkland Signature.

I have a little yorkie. Because he is small, he only gets 1/4 c of food a day. Because of this, I wanted to make sure the food was the best that we could find. I feed him a mix of Innova dry food and marricks wet food.

I am hoping that by feeding him the best that we can, he will be in better health longer in life. ;)

Mine like Beneful. They liked Pedigree also but it made them gassier:lmao: Dexter would eat anything Bailey is very picky so we have to mix wet, gravey, cottage cheese or scrambled eggs with what ever we give him-he is 15 so the vet said feed him whatever he will eat.

We make our dog food. They are both on a dr prescribed bland diet of poultry (no skin) and rice.

For a "treat" they get pumpkin.

Honestly I wouldn't feed Beneful if it was free...blech.

My dogs eat Diamond Naturals or Chicken Soup.

My dog is currently on Rice, CHop meat, and carrots all made/blended by me....
not fun, but allergies are at bay and THAT is worth it.........

My female also has many food allergies. We werent able to find any kibble that she wasn't allergic to.
Mostly she eats a RAW diet but lately she has been snubbing her nose at at that too.

I have been giving her roasted chicken with either brown rice mixed in or sweet potato but I want to add some variety! Have you tried any other foods that your dog is OK with? She picks the carrots out when we gave her those but I was thinking of pureeing them and trying again. I also feed her sardines and mackerel because dont think she is getting what she needs nutritionally. She is a big girl - 140 lbs.

Just wondering if you have had success with any other foods besides rice, carrots and chopped meat. Thanks!

First 6 ingredients in Beneful....does not look like anything I would want my dogs to eat.

Ground yellow corn, chicken by-product meal, corn gluten meal, soybean hulls*, whole wheat flour, rice flour,

Our 14 year old Golden is eating Purina One Sensitive Systems mixed with brown rice, peas, and carrots. He also has food allergies to chicken and flax. The only dry foods that do not contain flax are the ones that use fish as the protein source - talk about stinky dog breath!
