What kind of DVC vacationer are you?

Diane, congrats on your anniversary....Artist Point is wonderful, a perfect place for such an occasion.

I love hearing about everyone's approaches to WDW...especially as DVC members.

We used to be all out commandos. Granted, we still took afternoon breaks (the circumstances of our trips dictated it..) but would really push and push ourselves to see everything. Ever since joining DVC in 2000 we've been much more easygoing. If we miss something we say "oh, we'll do that next time" or "we'll be back soon enough!" But we still seem to be on the go a bit more than is good for us.

We now have baby #3 on the way and I know we're going to have to become even more relaxed to continue to enjoy ourselves. We have a preschooler who needs a great deal of "down time" to really enjoy things....and stroller time really doesn't count. Then again, she's a night owl....so its hard to manage in the off season. Before she was around we loved to just do early entry and have a late breakfast or early lunch before heading back to our resort, then go back out for the late afternoon/evening. Now, with our late sleeper that has become difficult if not impossible. So we may be doing a lot more "head out late and back in early" from now on. I hate doing that because of the crowds....but until dd is old enough to understand the strategy of early mornings, I think we're stuck with it.

We had always wanted to use our "where in the world should we go today" button to choose where to go.....but we're too into planning to let go that much! LOL Our plans are very loose...what do we want to do on this trip?.....but there's often so much we want to do that we have to make sure we get to each park and fit in enough time for our priorities.

I hope we can become more and more relaxed as time goes on.

And there's no entrance fee, unless you count the Ghirardellis ice cream

You mean, you can get into DTD without stopping at Ghirardellis? We never knew that!

We do the relaxing thing too. Breakfast on the patio, parks in the morning and evening, and just about anything that strikes us in between. Ghirardelli's makes a great lunch :)

We like to relax as part of our vacation and that's why we love DVC. We do breakfast in the villa, then hit the parks early. Mid-day we usually head back to relax, recharge, maybe even a nap (no kids I'm talking me :) ). Evening we go back and do a night-time activity like Illuminations.

Knowing we are coming back for years to come makes it easy to take things at our own pace.

We have 3 kids 4 and under so going all out is out.... :p

Right now we spend mornings at the parks (no more than 3 hours or so) and afternoons at the resort then maybe a CM in the evenings.... very low key. We are also considering non park trips. Just Staying at BCV for 3-4 days and never leaving... just do the pool thing and Character meals. To us.... that would be the perfect Disney vacation right now!

As the kids get older, our time at the parks will get longer, and I truely cant wait to do open to close with them. FUN FUN FUN!!
