Oh I'm willing to bet that you'll find it up there...I know it's definitely sold in Food Lion stores. My grandparents and parents have been using it for as long as I can remember. It was mainly used for topping fried porkchops or tenderloin when I was growing up.

Carolina Treat sounds good, can I order it over the Internet? :p

Hi Poohbear123

Funny this is on the Food Channel right now. My DH saw this on the Food Channel a few months ago. He has tried this several times and it is very good - It keeps the chicken moist.

The recipe is for a whole chicken.

The rub is equal parts of
salt, pepper, paprika and brown sugar.

Coat the outside of the chicken with a little oil and then rub the rub on the outside of the chicken

This is the best part

Open a can of beer or any soft drink and pour out half.
Place the can inside the cavity of the chicken so the chicken looks as though it is standing up. The can is in the rear area and the top area of the chicken is facing up.

BBQ until done - approximatley 1 1/2 hours.

Sounds and looks wierd. It really keeps the chicken moist and tasty. :wave2:

That is the recipe I am looking for!:p Its by Steven Raichlen's first Bar B Que cook book- Beer Can Chicken and other Bar B Que recipes- and I cannot find it at Amazon or Doubleday!

KC Masterpiece, or course! And if you can get it, Zarda is good too.

I use Hornes B.B.Q Sauce. Have used it since I can remember.

LOL, That's my maiden name?Guess the family has been holding out on me!!!!!!!!disneykid

I use whatever is on sale, and I alternate flavors. I have a terriyaki bbq sauce right now, I get hickory smoked a lot though.

Famous Daves is the only bbq sauce in our house anymore.

in no particular order...

KC Masterpiece

Bullseye

Stubb's

thanks, now I'm hungry :) lol

Order sauce from these places and you will never eat anything else again... EVER. Trust me, I'm a Memphis girl, and we have the market cornered on BBQ!

Corky's BBQ

Interstate BBQ

Just thank me later...

Checked out site, yummy, but i make my own BBQ, for $10.00 i can make enough BBQ to feed 6- people, this includes my homemade cole - slaw, and bread!!!!!!!!!disneykid

We hardly ever use BBQ Sauce...we used to use it once in awhile, but I can't have it on Atkins, so no one else in the family has it either!:p:p

What ever you do, don't buy the bottled version of Tony Roma's that's available in supermarkets now. We opened a bottle and it tastes like pickle juice...honestly, all you taste is vinegar. YUK!!!

I always make my own Barbeque sauce, it's the only one I like. It was given to me about 20 years ago by my sis's MIL. It has ketchup, chili sauce, brown sugar, Worchestire Sauce, onion, and butter.
It's especially great for sloppy joes!
If anyone wants the recipe, just pm me.

In case you wanted to know, Carolina Treat is a mustard based bbq sauce. It is very good. I love to use it on grilled chicken.
