In leaner years we saved until we could afford a "luxury" vacation, even if it meant skipping a year. My thoughts were I would rather wait and go all out then to go more often and skrimp. Thankfully now, we can pretty much pick and choose whatever.

So would you rather go more often or more luxurious?

More often.

We go somewhere every year - sometimes close like the beach or sometimes far like Disney or Mexico. It seems to be every other year - close, far, close far. I couldn't stand to go nowhere

I'd rather go more often. I'm not in the hotel room enough to care about the extra amenities anyway! :goodvibes

More often. Even our idea of the big vacation isn't exactly luxurious by many people's standards.

I have traveled to 49 of the 50 States. 15 years ago I thought a trip to West Virginia was so fun. Now traveling in the USA is a bit dull. All the towns and Cities look the same.

I feel that traveling overseas is 100 times more interesting. Overseas travel is great. I would rather save my money and go on one great international trip than 5 dull trips to US destinations.

I'd rather go more often although now that DD is in high school, it's a lot harder to get away. Oddly enough, we can afford to go more often now (and more luxuriously than before although I'm really the frugal sort) but I'm not comfortable taking her out of school anymore. Well, she'll graduate in four years. :teeth:

More often. I'm always ready to travel!

When I retire (a long way off), I want albums filled with pictures and a head full of memories of places visited. And then, I'm going to travel some more!

You just never know what life is going to throw your way, (health, financial issues, etc.), so if you can go now, then GO!

Definately go for quality over quantity. I'm far too fussy to be a budget traveller....

We would rather go more often. We have to take at least one trip a year. We always have one trip in some stage of planning. It helps us get through the day.

I'd prefer to go less often - to me a vacation is all about splurging. If I have to worry about money, then it's not a vacation.

Most vacations aren't cheap for us. The only "cheap" vacation you can have here is to rent a house at the beach, but it's only "cheap" if you rent one of the old style houses without the comforts of home! We've done it many times, but we're getting pickier in our old age! :rotfl:

We haven't had a vacation away from home for a while b/c it involves airfare, hotel, car etc. etc. for 5 people! Luckily DH and I each travel for business, so we do get off the little "rock". This year it was just easier to stay home and work on the house for our vacation, and take the kids to the beach often. Instead of a family vacation I tacked a few days onto my business trips to Orlando and Canada and had a great time! DH goes to fishing tournaments with the guys. It works well for us. Our next real vacation will either be to another Caribbean island next year, if we can get a good deal, or if not it will be Disney in 2007.

We definitely save up for bigger vacations. The next big one will be Japan in a couple of years. We do go to visit family a few times a year, California for mine and South Carolina for his. Those trips are fairly cheap since we only pay for airfare and maybe a rental car.

More Often.

We are fortunate enough to go away camping often and then we go on one "real" vacation a year.

That's what's really bugging me now--not having a trip in the planning stages! We haven't decided what we're doing next summer and we need to decide so I can start planning.

We usually vacation every year. Some years, like this year, at simpler and cheaper. Some years are a lot more expensive.

We do some little vacations throughout the year, but save up for a "big vacation" every couple years and go all out for those.
