What is your summer looking like?

I turned in my annual leave for June. I figured there's no point. I still have a week in July. We'll see how that goes. Fortunately, we did a Disney cruise in February so we at least got our Disney trip in for the year. Anything else I guess is a bonus at this point. If we do in anything in July it will probably be something within 2-3 hours driving distance but I doubt it at this point.

We're heading to Tennessee and Alabama as soon as it is legal to do so, because I'm chomping at the bit to scout the area around the two plants DH will have to decide between if he takes the promotion he's been offered.

Other than that, I figure we'll stay closer to home. We're going camping in the U.P. at some point, to day hike a section of the North Country Trail, and if DH ends up laid off we're going to start doing some clearing on my family's land up north to prep for putting in first a permanent camp site and eventually a cabin/tiny home. We plan to do most of the work ourselves and the first steps are pure labor, clearing brush, taking down some small trees, and grading the steep/overgrown drive-in access, so getting a start if he's off for a while will be a bit of a silver lining to a lousy situation.
What part of TN?

The plant is in Columbia, and on paper there are a few smallish towns in middle TN that we want to check out.

I don't remember the name of the town where the plant is off the top of my head, but it is near Talledega.
I’m in North Al so not familiar with that area other than passing through. Columbia is a lovely town. What are some of the other TN towns?

My summer will most likely be like it is now. I’m high risk so I want to try and get healthy like healthy eating, exercise and losing some weight. I’ve been off since March and don’t work in June and July. I go back to work in August but depends how things are going with covid-19.

I’m ok with having a boring summer because in the past June and a July there’s no income so money was always tight. Now I save for the summer but this year just want my family and I to be happy, healthy and safe.

Next year my DD graduates college and we were thinking of going to Hawaii to celebrate. I guess since we aren’t going anywhere this year, I’ll hopefully throw in a cruise for next summer

Bleak and boring. I can’t even leave my region without getting quarantined for work, and they’ve indicated that will be for months. I also can’t have visitors from outside the area.

Summer here ends at the end of July. Then my husband is back to school to teach.

Work as usual! I’m a social worker and I’ve been working from home since March... others left the office on our last day and said, “See you in a couple months!” I thought they were being overly pessimistic and resented their bad attitudes. Now I’m eating crow.

On my weekends, I’ll be getting my apartment spruced up and doing some home decor projects. I moved here in October, but I haven’t fully decorated yet. After working two jobs and seeing family and the occasional global pandemic, time really got away from me.

Looks like it's mostly going to be fairly boring. We're probably going to buy some fireworks and shoot em off on the 4th. We're allowed mortars around here. The drunk neighbors will likely mess up and catch their house on fire. So there is that. Either that or they'll put each others eyes out with roman candles.

The two that have made it to my list to check out in person are Lewisburg and Mount Pleasant, but I also want to just sort of drive around the area and explore because it can be easy to miss the best places based on internet research alone, you know? I've got a bit more experience with TN than AL, because my son's best friend moved to Dickson when they were in middle school and I spent a lot of time down there so they could get together, but I never really ventured to the southern part of the Nashville area or into Middle TN. I do love Nashville proper, though, so being an hour or so from the city would be kind of awesome. And the Disney/travel addict in me really likes the idea of living near a Southwest hub!

We put in a pool 2 years ago so will be enjoying it this summer. I have 5 weeks of vacation and haven't been able to take any so far so will probably take some days to enjoy a staycation.

We had plans for a long weekend at Disney Hilton Head last weekend which was cancelled so we're hoping we can snag a couple of days down there once things open. They are typically booked but expect others will cancel.

We will be going to our camp most weekends like a usual summer.
I have a cottage rented (beach vacation) for the first week of August so I'm holding out hope that is still happening.
We are planning to tackle big outdoor projects around the house too.
The only thing that will be different is getting together with friends and family for concerts and festivals won't be happening this year.

We are in East TN, but have driven 2 1/2 hrs to Nashville for cheaper flights..especially to Vegas!

I love HHI!. My parents have a house in Bluffton, so we have spent a lot of time on HH. Hope you get to go!

I am crossing my fingers the zoos will open. I am dying to go! I am hoping we can have lots of play dates and hopefully park dates. I am missing going places!

Our zoo opened to members only this week. It was fantastic! You had to make a reservation, and time slots were limited. Everyone had to walk along the same 4-mile path in one direction. Everyone did a great job keeping distance, and even though masks weren’t required, we weren’t the only ones wearing them. Hand sanitizing stations were plentiful. Of course, the playgrounds/rides/indoor exhibits were closed. But the whole thing felt very safe. Our children’s museum opens next month under the same restrictions, but masks are required.
