What is your strategy for the day when you attend MVMCP?

Looking for advice from those of you who have attended MVMCP in the past. Do you go to Magic Kingdom for the day? Do you have dinner in the Magic Kingdom or somewhere else prior to coming to the party? How should I best plan my day prior to MVMCP? It will be me, my DH, DD (8), DS (11), my Dsis, Dbil, nieces and nephew 7, 10, and 11.

We've gone to 2 MVMCP. The first one, we wanted to maximize our time in all the parks, so we went to AK; dined at the GF, then went to MK for MVMCP. We stayed late, and then were so tired.

The next time we went, I learned from these boards about entering after 4 pm on just the MVMCP ticket, and eating at liberty tree tavern during the time the park was closed, so we slept in, went to the outlet mall closest to WDW, entered MK about 4:30, rode a few rides, went to our dinner reservation at LTT at 6:10 (when the park was officially closed); when we were done with dinner, we walked out, had our picture taken with no waiting, then rode and watched til closing time.

I highly recommend the second option over the first.

We always do a "take it easy" day on the day of MVMCP. If it's warm enough we swim and hang out at our resort. Otherwise we head to DTD to do some shopping. We also make sure the kids get some rest that day. Then, we head to the park after 4 and have dinner before the party.
