I know a lot of folks have strange little quirks or obsessions. What are yours? I'll start:

1) I can't leave the house until I check my flat iron at least 2 or 3 times (my sister also has this :rotfl2: )

2) When I drop my kids at school, I can't drive away until I see them walk completely in the door

OK, that's a start....BTW, this is meant to be a FUN thread. ;)

I have to hang the clothes in my closet in ROYGBIV.

I can't use a sink that has leftover bubbles in it. I will rinse out the sink before I use it. Even in a public bathroom.

I would love to blame it on working retial but I have doen it way before that:lmao:

As you can see in my tag, if I scratch my left elbow, I have to scratch my right. Same goes for my knee, arm, shoulder, etc.

I can't leave the house until I know all kitchen appliances are unplugged and the washer and dryer are definitely off. Then, I get to the car and usually have to run back in the house just to double check!

At night, I check all the locks and windows along with all appliances. Once that is done, I MUST make sure all closets are closed so the boogey man doesn't get me.

We have baseboard heat and I am so worried DS is going to accidentaly leave something too close to one of the heaters. I spend half the day checking the rooms to make sure nothing is on fire.

I cannot let the gas get below half a tank.

I could spend an entire day writing up a list of all my obsessions, but I think it's already pretty apparent that I'm a little neurotic:lmao:

Oh, I can SOOO relate to you!! LOL My sister recently devised a plan - about our flat iron obsession - she takes a picture with her phone before she leaves the house of the UNPLUGGED iron. It has time/date stamp, so you KNOW it's done! :rotfl2:

I'm also a freak about the toaster oven too!

OMG! You two must be my long lost sisters! :rotfl: I also have to check my flat iron and other appliances (mostly the toaster oven & the dryer) before I leave the house. I love the idea of taking a pic with a cell phone! Brilliant! I'm sure that's what I'll be doing tomorrow before I leave the house.

Most of these don't seem like OCDs, they sound more like safety measures, and they make sense!

My BIL is a hand washer. He washes his hands so much they turn red! He has a ridiculous fear of germs and is obsessive about it.

My son is highly (almost ridiculously)organized. He has a collection of TV series and keeps them alphabetized and lined up by season. NO ONE is allowed to bother them, it literally freaks him out. :rolleyes1 So YES, I do it every now and then to make him crazy!!

I'm the complete opposite of anything OCD. I grew up with an obsessive sister and now my son. I drive them nuts. :woohoo:

So funny that you posted this. I do this too, and kind of laughed at myself this morning as I was watching her walk into the school in my rear view mirror.

I am also obsessed with my child's grades. I check them online once a day. She does very well in school, but I can't help obsessing over it. When I was in school, I obsessed over my own grades, too.

Also, even though I know my doors are locked, I check them every night before I go to bed.

This thread was meant for me and my OCD tendencies. :)

I have 5 in my family, so I do things that I can in 5's or multiples of 5 (30 gas, 45 minutes treadmill, etc.)

I have to take the white squiggly things off the egg before I can cook them.

I can't eat the puckered ends of hot dogs.

I can't sit in a seat that is still warm from someone else's butt.

If I make one bed, I have to make all of them - even if I'm running late to finish the job.

I also have to watch my kids walk into the school doors.

Thank you! I keep trying to tell my DH that closets beig closed is completely for safety reasons. No way am I lettign anything sneak into my room via Closet express lane!

Making sure doors are locked. Checking to make sure kids are still in bed, (we live in a one story), I hate outlets and I have to make sure nothing up up against them for fear of fire. Making sure everything in turned off.
I won't use a programable coffee pot, because I can't leave anything that heats plugged in. I would unplug the stove and dryer if I could get to it.

My newest is making sure all of the lint is our of the lint filter, I wouldn't want it to spontaneously catch on fire, even thought the dryer isn't running when I go to bed.
It takes me about 30 minutes of checking and rechecking things before I go to bed, this is why I stay up so late, I hate to start the whole process.
Ok, feel free to make fun, I know I am weird.

I had a friend who was VERY particular about her CDs....she had hundreds of them, and they were sorted alphabetically by artist and then by release date. One night, when her room-mate (also a good friend) and I were a bit...shall we say...cheerful, we reorganized them by colour (ROYGBIV). They were very pretty when we were finished. :rotfl2::lmao:

Of course, my friend was a little less than amused when she came home...she kind of curled into a little ball and rocked for a little while and then spent the next hour reorganizing them. I'd like to say I felt guilty about that, but to be honest, I still :lmao: when I think about it. ;)

I think I'm pretty much the opposite of OCD, too, other than checking my email about every 10 minutes...does that count?

Sounds like my son, he starts shaking!! When he was 3 some neighbors came over and threw all of his toys around and on the floor. He just watched them. As soon as they left he reorganized them for hours!! That was the beginning of a life I KNEW would be full of OCD!!

I love it! Hey, us Type A's have to stick together!!

Yes, I am a door checker too! My DH, who is VERY type B, could care less if doors are locked or not! Oh, and I check the home security system a few times before I get into bed.

The only thing that pops out at me that I do that could be considered an OCD is I always have to check and recheck and check again that the door is locked when I leave. I especially am bad about it when I am watching someone elses pet when they are on vacation - I always am checking and rechecking that the door is locked. If my DH is with me I will always ask him after we drove away "was the door locked, was it shut all the way, etc." When I watched my sister's cats I started taking a picture of the door with my phone since you can see that the deadbolt was locked. With my house you can't really see the deadbolt but thankfully my dh is usually home after I leave for work so I don't have to worry about being the one shutting and locking the door. I have been known to drive away and then have to turn back around to make sure the door is shut and locked - it use to make me late for work all the time when my dh had different hours.

Another little quirk I have is that I don't like to leave the dryer on when no one is home. That has made for some stinky clothes if I forget to restart the dryer when I get home and it sits for too long. I wouldn't really call that an OCD though - the other with me and the front door being shut and locked seems to me like an OCD since I tend to have an anxious, uneasy, can't think about anything else feeling until I am sure the door is shut and locked even after checking it again and again I am still unsure whether it is really shut and locked.
