Chicken?
Dry cereal?
Condiments?
Canned vegetables?
Deoderant?
I was cursing myself at the store a few days ago when I saw a sale sign for whole chickens and KNEW I didn't have room in my freezer for more than one... if that...
Chicken(whole) .99/lbchicken drumsticks or thighs .59/lb
Cereal that we love 1.00
Any cereal .50
Condiments .10 or less
Don't buy canned veggies usually
Deodorant .50 or less
Chicken: Bonless, skinless chicken breasts $1.99 per lb.
Condiments: The only thing I buy (annually) is Miracle Whip. Sales + Coupon
Deodorant: Limited to natural deodorants--and only two of those. Rarely on sale.
Rarely use canned vegetables or dry cereal--primarily if having house guests who particularly like them.
Do you mind my asking which ones you like the best? I haven't tried any yet for fear they won't work well for me, but I really would love to cut out that particular EVERY DAY application of chemicals.
I prefer unscented to scented, but most of the brands have both.
My favourite is Alavera (something like that--a play on "aloe vera"). I haven't found it recently, so have switched to Sprouts brand. It's about $6 for a standard size roll-on. I prefer the consistency of the first brand, Sprouts is a bit more watery, but works well. Just allow a couple of minutes forit to dry. *LOL* Sprouts also is available in solid form--can't remember if the first one is.
I've tried Tom's, but don't like it as well as the other two.
That makes me REALLY happy! I don't usually buy whole chickens because I'm not used to cooking them (its one of those things I am trying to get better at... along with making my own bread with my FREE bread machine)... anyway... I paid .59/lb for a whole chicken yesterday... I had to do some major re-arranging to get it into the freezer, but I did it! Now I just need to find a super yummy way to cook it!

At .59/lb, I'd be inclined to separate the chicken into parts, split the wing sections, and deskin/debone the breasts. That way, it's all ready for me to cook up depending on the meal, and I can fit a lot more in the freezer. A little bit of work, yes, but over the cost savings of maybe 4 chickens, well worth it.
