Chicken(whole) .99/lb
chicken drumsticks or thighs .59/lb
Cereal that we love 1.00
Any cereal .50
Condiments .10 or less
Don't buy canned veggies usually
Deodorant .50 or less

:thumbsup2I'm so glad to see the cereal prices you've said! I got four boxes yesterday. 2 were $1.49 and 2 were $1.99. I also snagged another coupon for $1/2 to use next time while the deal is still going on. I've been watching cereal prices and thought it was a pretty good deal, but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Cheaper or free would have been great, but I can't count on that yet since I'm still starting out.

I have found great coupons for deoderant, but never for free! I think the lowest I've seen is $1.50 (for the brand that works for me... I've tried nearly every brand out there and they just don't keep up with my body chemistry or something. :sad2: )

That makes me REALLY happy! I don't usually buy whole chickens because I'm not used to cooking them (its one of those things I am trying to get better at... along with making my own bread with my FREE bread machine)... anyway... I paid .59/lb for a whole chicken yesterday... I had to do some major re-arranging to get it into the freezer, but I did it! Now I just need to find a super yummy way to cook it!

Chicken: Bonless, skinless chicken breasts $1.99 per lb.
Condiments: The only thing I buy (annually) is Miracle Whip. Sales + Coupon
Deodorant: Limited to natural deodorants--and only two of those. Rarely on sale.

Rarely use canned vegetables or dry cereal--primarily if having house guests who particularly like them.

Do you mind my asking which ones you like the best? I haven't tried any yet for fear they won't work well for me, but I really would love to cut out that particular EVERY DAY application of chemicals.

I prefer unscented to scented, but most of the brands have both.

My favourite is Alavera (something like that--a play on "aloe vera"). I haven't found it recently, so have switched to Sprouts brand. It's about $6 for a standard size roll-on. I prefer the consistency of the first brand, Sprouts is a bit more watery, but works well. Just allow a couple of minutes forit to dry. *LOL* Sprouts also is available in solid form--can't remember if the first one is.

I've tried Tom's, but don't like it as well as the other two.

Thanks! I might try E-mailing them to find out if I can get samples or a coupon... I'd hate to pay $6 for deoderant and skill stink at the end of the day... resulting in a need for regular deoderant anyway.

Here is a simple way to cook a whole chicken

At .59/lb, I'd be inclined to separate the chicken into parts, split the wing sections, and deskin/debone the breasts. That way, it's all ready for me to cook up depending on the meal, and I can fit a lot more in the freezer. A little bit of work, yes, but over the cost savings of maybe 4 chickens, well worth it.

Chicken? - $1.99lb for boneless skinless breasts, $0.99lb for whole chicken
Dry cereal? - less than $1
Condiments? - this varies on what condiment. Mayo is less than $1, Ketchup/Mustard/Pickles free to $0.50
Canned vegetables? don't buy them
Deoderant? usually free but definitely less than $1

I don't know how to do that. :headache:

I hope to learn soon though! Maybe if they still have any tomorrow (doubtful!), I'll grab another one or two and find a youtube video. I thought $3 for a whole chicken was pretty stinkin' awesome. I'm sure people are reading this wondering how I've made it this far in life without cooking a whole chicken, but I grew up in a house where the extent of cooking was kraft macaroni or scrambled eggs... and only those once a week or so (we went out to eat 95% of the time). In college I thought I was hot stuff for putting a processed chicken patty in oven, covering it with jarred marinara and eating it over ramen noodles. VOILA, chicken parmesan! :rotfl2:

Yummy way to cook chicken in the oven:

Preheat overn to 350

Split down breast bone and spread out flat on large baking sheet. I have also used a cut up chicken and even just the bone in breasts (when I get them for 99/lb). Skin on makes all the difference in moistness! You can even make two chickens at once!

Squeeze juice of one whole lemon all over chicken and under skin too. Chop up eleven garlic cloves! Sprinkle with garlic, oregano, sea salt and pepper, drizzle all with olive oil and roast for 40 -50 minutes (check meatiest part with a thermometer) depending on how big chicken is. Your house will smell wonderful!

I also make a pan of roasted potatoes at the same time. Same exact ingredients (no as much lemon usually) pour over cubed potatoes any kind and bake right along with the chicken. Cheap and yummy!

I will try to find the original recipe as I heard about this on another board!

The only way my family will eat chicken(whole) is if I throw it in the crock pot and let it cook all day. Works great in winter or summer.:thumbsup2

Chicken? 1.99/lb boneless, skinless
Dry cereal? 1.00 or under

Deoderant? Free

toothpaste- 1-2 dollars- chicken parts .59-1.99 depends on parts-toilet paper-.50 per roll or less-shampoo,less than 2.50 per bottle of what we like- deoderant-0-1.50(picky dh) toothrushes, maybe 1.00 each- cereal 2.50 or less per box of stuff we like-(picky dh) it depends on what area you live in...today at the store I got ch. leg quarters for .50 per pound, nice ones too!

I agree with everyone's prices.

But chicken, I buy breast with skin/bone for .99 a lb. I remove the skin and then slice off a good portion of the breast for future use. These cutlets are much better than the ones sold as boneless/skinless. And then I BBQ the remainder of the breast on the bone.

I am stunned when I look at the regular prices of groceries. And I need CPR when I see someone pay full price!
