What Is your real first name? **Updated 02/23/09** See first post**

Simba's Mom is really Dorothy. Coincidently, both my parents had a sister named Dorothy, so when I was a baby, according to my parents, it was fun to listen to the grandparents argue about "whose" Dorothy I was named for.

Hi Dorothy-
My aunt and grandmother were Dorothy's as well. It made for very confusing holidays and gatherings. My family called us the Three Dots: Big Dot, Little Dot, and me, Baby Dot!

One more Lisa checking in.

We can probably have our own thread...."Are you a Lisa Ann(e) or Lisa Marie" ;)

Well...my first name is Elizabeth but I go by Denise...my middle name. :goodvibes

Soo... when you would get in trouble it was.. ELIZABETH DENISE!

You have two great names. Love both those names! Mine are Robert Theodore.... Never really cared much for the middle name, but I am the third Robert in succession... My son is the fourth... Robert Ryan (and we call him by Ryan). Hope he keeps it going.

NOW ROBERT THEODORE...... DO YOU THINK MY PARENTS EVER YELLED ELIZABETH DENISE TO ME????? NO no no...I was perfect growing up. :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: Actually I do believe that DID come out of my mom's mouth at least once. Actually my parents called me Nisey...and so did my Grandmother. :goodvibes

Now...I vowed to never call my kids by their middle names. I never understood why they never called me Elizabeth. I went through years of school being called Elizabeth the first days of school. I had one college professor that called me LIZ and never called me Denise. I just gave in after I had him for 2 classes and he never got it right.

So were you Robbie growing up???

My name is Craig.

Sometimes people think it's Greg, but it isn't, it is Craig. Usually that's only a problem face to face or over the phone. In print or online it generally isn't an issue... :rotfl:

I do "go by" my first name. However, my late grandfather went by Gene, shortened from his MIDDLE name. I always thought that was a little weird, but so were his names- first was Cloyd and middle name was Eugene!

So were you Robbie growing up???

Yes, I was... you even have it spelled right (as opposed to Robby). My only living relative (aunt) still calls me Robbie.

Sometimes DW (Mary Beth) will call me by that, but I know some special request is going to follow. Like... Robbie... there's a spider in the shower, will get it for me? It is usually said either in terms of panic or endearment.

Actually it is interesting, because MB and I met when we were both 16 and I was still going by Robbie. Over the years, I and she, have changed it to Rob (except for those special need times). I actually like hearing her call me Robbie.

Is Nisey pronounced... Neesee?

My son is Robert Ryan, but I did this only to keep the name moving forward. We always called him Ryan and that is what he goes by to this day.

Hey now... Theodore is a perfectly fine name. :)

(from a Theodore who's proud of it...)

Ted

Indeed... My father (Sr.) at some point in his life changed his legal signature to R. Theordore Wilson, Sr. Sorry if I stepped on your Teddy toes. :goodvibes As far as I know my father was always Ted.
