Ok People I have been watching ABC's Extreme Makover Home Edition since 2004 and I love this show. it's A Feel good show that makes you cry. But I hame A Huge fan of Ty Pennington the Team Leader of the Design team at Extreme Makover. Soo what is you Honest opinion of Ty and his Team?

I couldn't care less about him... I don't watch the show... but unlike most reality shows, they actually do good things for good people, so I support the show being on the air... I just don't watch it.

I love the show (don't watch it often though!) it's a great concept and the things they do for people are astounding.

I think they have done a couple over here and we used to have a similar show in the early nineties (Challenge Anneka sp?) where they did construction and refurbishment mainly for charities - including orphanages in Romania! They would have a couple of days to do the Challenge and relied on companys to donate goods and labour.

I love the show and the work they do for people who need it. :)
At least this is a worthwhile show to watch, can't say the say about some other shows that are out there.
And yes I always find myself sheding a tear of joy for the family. :)

I like the show, but I DVR it so I can fast forward through Ty's yelling. I used to like him more before the stories of him not really being all that involved in the building. When he was here in Ohio the local paper reported he just showed up for taping segements and spent alot of time at night out in the bars. Nothing wrong with that I guess and I wasn't thinking he was doing hard labor, but I thought he was more involved even off camera.

I love the show. We are a couple of years behind over here and get a lot of repeats but I do enjoy it. I'd love to hear how the people we are watching over here are doing now.

love the show, and he's a good host, i think. i can't imagine what it'd be like to deal with so many horrific stories, and the people cry nearly every time, and i think he does a really good job handling them!! hahah.

i do wish it didn't follow the EXACT. SAME. FORMULA. for each show every time, though. It used to be a lot less formal - now you can pretty much set your clock by what sequence is on. It makes it easier for the producers i guess, but seriously it's the same show every week just with a different family and different pictures on the screen.

not that that's a bad thing...they sure are some pretty pictures!! i'd love to have a house like they build!

Interesting....I was just reading an article about the track record of many of the people they help AFTER the camera crews go home. Many of the families wind up claiming bankruptcy and many of the houses go into foreclosure. Not a pretty outcome.

ABC apparently provides the house free of charge, including property taxes AND utilities, and many of these people still can't keep up. One couple even took out a mortgage on their PAID FOR house and spent the entire $500K in a year.

I think the show has a good heart, but the more popular it's become, the more overdone it is.

They rebuilt a home in Chapman, KS in my state; a town that had been nearly obliterated by a tornado. In addition to the guy's house, they rebuilt other buildings in the town and provided relief for the people who were still struggling with the devastation. I would rather see more of that then these monster, behemoth houses they're plopping down in these neighborhoods.

Sorry.....didn't mean to get on my soapbox.....

Denise, I too have read that some of the recipients of houses, lose everything within a year.....very sad.

This morning our local paper, had several good articles on Chapman. They mentioned the house that was rebuilt, etc. Plus focused on the fact that recovery is still going on.

if it aint broke..dont fix it. its a feel good show, that does great things for people. the cast is so well known by everyone and it think thats what makes it comforting. the families expect ty to come out on that bullhorn. anyone else, would make it foreign.

I enjoy the show, but I think they could build 3 houses for what they put into one. People need a house, not a mansion. Most of the houses they tear down need it, but they could do so much more, if they built 2 houses that were very nice, instead of one huge house that people can't afford to heat and keep up.

I liked him when he was the Carpenter on Trading Spaces. He's annoying now and needs meds.:scared:
