What is your opinion on the United Kingdom?

“Beat the drums” to the international diaspora of family members.
Do good? Everyone knows.
Do bad? Everyone knows.

Not triggered I've just never understood why people that don't like the taste of steak would pay to get one and then have all the flavor cooked out of it. A hamburger is cheaper. :confused3

You may want to consider that for many people, the "taste of steak" is the taste of char; the part they like is the taste/odor of the cooking process. If that process isn't there or only applies to a tiny portion of the meat, they find it lacking. Also, for those who are sensitive to the texture of foods, a burger with it's zillions of tiny little bumps is a very different mouth-feel than a steak.

Me, I just hate the odor of blood (I have a VERY hypersensitive sense of smell), so I want that blood residue chemically altered by heat before I bring it near my mouth.

Nothing. I can't remember my parents ever asking for grades or me actively telling me off for getting bad grades.
In teacher-parent talks they heard that I was doing well, and that was it. I was bad at science and I just passed math, but they didn't care about it, because that was not a direction I was interested in or would do anything with in later life.

It was better than my best friend who bursted out in tears when she got a 7 out of 10 in a science class, because she didn't dare to go home.

We have a neighborhood bar and we go all the time, good food, good drinks, good service and yes they know our names. They do great, The places that are dead are the restaurant chains. I hate to sit in a booth and wonder where my waiter went.

When I first moved here we went to the place around the corner to "celebrate." I guess everyone else celebrated- I had a few 'I can't believe I had to move to the Middle of Nowhere' drinks. :rolleyes2

That was 2008. It was a nice little place until it changed owners, and now it's a nuisance bar with lots of inconsiderate drunks and loud music.

I worked a summer at Dunkin' Donuts helping out my Mom, who was the overnight manager, until she could get a hire. The uniform was a tan shirt with pink, orange and brown trees that had doughnuts growing on them and matching tan trousers. And a visor. They switched to stripey shirts that were much nicer soon after I left.

My parents were fine if I got a bad grade, if they knew I had honestly tried. I had and still have absolutely no brain when it comes to math. I failed geometry twice in high school, but my Mom knew I always gave it my best shot. I kept a neat copybook with numbers and equations all laid out in the correct rows. Almost always wrong but my Mom always checked out our homework before we were allowed to put it away and knew I was trying. I did well in my other subjects.

I almost did this ! The house across the street was for sale a few months ago. We love the street but wish our house had more room and a rec room . The house across the street had both. It also had a pool, which was a nice to have, but not a must.

On the cons side it wasn’t fully fenced which we need , was very outdated so would need a lot of painting and wallpaper removal etc , and it didn’t have central air .
We took the weekend to discuss it casually and a sold sign went up in 48 hours which made our decision for us .

Maybe 2 years ago. Before that was 3 years ago. Before that was 4 years ago. Guess I visit any bar only once a year.

Worse! It's a bldg with 3 apartments in it..I will stay on my side of the road in my house, lol!

I loved living in South Philly. The sense of community among neighbors and being able to stay where I felt comfortable because everything I needed was right there on the corner or only a few blocks away was welcome to a solitary kid like me. However, not having to venture far probably made me more timid and not likely to try unfamiliar things more than I'd like.

Might have been about 2-1/2 years to watch a basketball game. I could have watched it at home, but my wife and kid don't particularly watch sports. I don't really go to this bar much. I would typically go to one if I'm traveling, but I don't really go to our neighborhood bar much.

little worse.....smaller, but still big and still has a pool. We're in a housing development. There are about 6 different styles.
