I'm feeling like I need some fresh ideas. What is the latest thing you have tried?

Mine is embossing punches. I went to a class and we embossed snowflakes. Really cute. I'm thinking I'm going to try it for my Mickey head punch.

I used some clear embossing powder on pop up glue dots to make little drops of water. Turned out really cute.

I don't know why, but I've been really into making tags lately. :)

I love my tiny, hand held hole punch, the kind you positiona nd then hit with a hammer. I've been using it to punch out designs from my background and then add a different colored piece behind for contrast. My fireworks page has black background paper with punched out fireworks designs. I backed the whole thig with scraps of tie-dyed paper so the fireworks look really neat.

I have been on a roll! I am known as the person who loves to collect all the latest stuff and then never uses them! LOL!
Let see...Finally used my brass templates! And even used my embossing paste! Love that....So much fun to do!
I started using my embossing powders! I even got lots of stamps inked up so I could emboss! LOL! Big step there!
I also started to use pop dots! have had them forever! And realized they really add to a page! I try now to use chalk often! I also have been using my liquid glitter stuff! Very fun! All this fun stuff...who knew! and best of all I had it all!

I have been into ribbon lately. Even my boy pages get a little added to them. What I really want to try is the ribbon buckles so I bought a few yesterday.

Are pop-up glue dots different than regular glue dots? I LOVE this idea.

And, what is embossing paste? I'm loving these ideas.

Pop up glue dots are just thick (about 1/4" or so) glue dots. The edges are very round so they look just like pebbles/drops of water/etc when you emboss them. I printed out the word Beach and put the glue dots over the letters and then embossed it. They turned out pretty good, I'll see if I can post a pic. :)

As far as embossing paste, that I don't know about either, but would love to!

I've been into inking the edge of everything lately. I love those little Colorbox cat-eye chalk inkpads!

Great ideas! I'm going to emboss some Mickey head punches. :cool1:

embossing paste is like frosting for stencils.....you can do it several ways
Clear embossing paste:
tape a brass stencil into place then color in all the holes with marker, chalk or ink let dry.
then leave the template on and take the clear paste and smear it into the holes. Making sure it is very smooth. Pull template off gently and let dry.

White/color embossing paste
Same as above but no coloring first. While wet you can sprinkle glitter on it. Once dry put the template back on and then color with ink or chalk or just leave plan.

Pop dots are just raised dots thicker. so the item "pops" off the page.

Here's a pic of the embossed pop up glue dots. I printed out the word beach on water paper. I was pretty happy with the way this LO (2 pages) turned out all together. :)

LOVE THAT!!! I'm gonna have to get me some! My most exciting news of the day --- I used to be big into stamping. I had the embossing stuff, stamps galore, heating tool, the whole nine yards. Well, I quit doing and sold it all. My sister asked me what I want for my birthday today, and I told her I want a heating tool, because I'm doing that stuff in my scrapbooks. She emails me back saying she's got my heating tool and has had it for about three years. YIPPEE! Now I don't have to buy a new one. And, I can emboss pop-up glue dots.

Clear embossing paste

Does anyone know where to get the clear embossing paste? I've hunted high and low for it and all I've been able to find is the white.

I first saw it at a CK convention from these girls http://www.thestencilcollection.com/
They were out and I couldn't get it.I haven't ordered from them but they are at the Creative Keepsaking conventions. I got mine at a craft store. But never found it anywhere else.

Pooh Bear, I meant to say earlier, Love the lay out! I think I am going to lift/style and colors! I have beach pictures I just pulled out to scrap! I have the blue and tannish color but knew I was missing one more color to make it flow nice!!!
Cute layout! I may try the pepple trick too!

Disney bottle caps. Love them!! I buy them on ebay from a seller known as "disneyscrapping" she will also flatten them if you prefer them that way. She also does custom orders I just told her what I needed for the page I was doing and she was able to accomodate my needs.

I also like all the Jolee items esp the disney items of course.

I also watch the PBS scrapbook show every once in awhile can't remember the name of it but they usually have some neat tips.

For me my newest thing has been experimenting with transparencies. A scrapping pal at work gave me a great idea for making them look like marble and from there I've been going nuts with them. Love the layered look on my pages and transperancies are perfect for me.

I've been experimenting more with my photos lately.

Instead of sticking with the standard 3x5 or 4x6 prints I now enlarge special photos to unique sizes (6 x 6 squares, 5x7, 8x10 etc.) at home or use the special border effects of Photoshop Elements 4.0 to add unique edging.

I'm trying more things like "sepia" tone and "posterizing" blurry pictures that otherwise might not get used. Last night I "blurred" the background people in a photo to emphasize the main person.

None of this is earth-shattering or new but it has brought my simple, few embellishments style scrapbooking to a new level!

klmall...I have been doing that too! I love 5x7 now! I use that size alot anymore. They are my more "creative" pages!

Wow.... and I thought I was "branching out" because I finally started using my sewing machine on pages! You guys are WAY ahead of me when it comes to trying new things!.................P
