With Jim Lewis' recent comments about enhancing the "prestige" and "cachet" of DVC, I'm curious to hear what my fellow DVC members really want.

See this post or the new Vacation Magic for a summary of the recent comments.

What single improvement to the DVC program would really make an impact with you? If your response is "Other", please elaborate in your reply.

Thanks!

(Note to Rich: Making the rooms larger at BVC, BWV, et al is NOT an option) ;)

I would love to see DVC Members get the equilivent of a Florida Resident. Discounted passes, Disney Dining card, Florida Resident rates on DCL.

AP discount is number one on my list, with overall discount plan good anytime anywhere as number two.

In park preferred treatment of some sort is top of my list - this is due to having two young kids

thanks

I'd have to say AP/hopper/park ticket discount (discounts on all of them so that DVCers can choose what works best for them) first, and in park preferred treatment as my second choice. I'd like to see unlimited fast pass, DVC member lounges and seating areas at popular shows.

We are planning an 8 day visit and intend to go to only 1 park on 1 day -Epcot for Mission:Space.

Discounted park passes would encourage us to visit a park for favorite things and probably stay for a meal. DH will be having a hard time with this plan, but he says this is the way he wants it this time. He knows we will return in six months, so as long as he rides Mission:Space and has cheese soup in Canada he's happy.

Being a Fl. resident, we already get the res. discounts and they do help out, however, I feel that being a DVC Member is a higher rung on the ladder. With that being said, I believe that DVC Members should receive a greater discount than Fl. res. since we went all out and purchased a piece of The Magic.

I like the perks! Those hours spent waiting for parades are valuable. Also, preferred access to specialty cruises would be nice.

However the more I think about it I realize discounted passes would be nice, too. We would feel more free to spend half a day at the parks rather than cram everything into one day.

How about deeply discounted park tickets during a DVC stay? Ie. half price. In that situation we would probably only stay part of each day in a park and go more days. We wouldn't use as many park resources as the average guest, making a discount applicable without a significant loss for Disney. We'd spend as much on tickets -- just spread out over more days.

there are some of us that don't go to WDW even when we stay at our DVC resort - because the ticket prices are much to high.

I would be happy with florida resident discount on passes - especially the seasonal pass - then I would go to WDW much more often (and thereby spend more money).

I have an annual pass to SW and US/IOA - if their prices were more reasonable then I would also have an annual pass to WDW - well maybe not an annual pass - but if we got offered the seaonal pass (at Florida resident rates) - I would definitely grab it.

WOW!!....Complete and total agreement!! Especially for DCL since the points rate has gone so high, the FL cash rate would be great!!

Imaging how popular a member cruise at the FL resident rate would be!!

I voted Perks. To me, that's in keeping with my DVC attitude: we pay a lot of $$$, but get a lot of benefits, not the least of which is a special sense of being a little more a part of the magic. I'd love a DVC viewing section for Spectro/Illum/Fantasmic, a DVC lounge in each park, things like that.

However, second choice would easily be Discounts on Admission Media.

[I was sorely tempted to vote Other: and request a Hooters-type restaurant at SSR; imagine being served wings and beer by a Jessica Rabbit-type waitress. But I didn't. So there]

I agree with the FLorida resident's discount for APs, even just the Seasonal pass discount would be great.

But what would Florida resident DVC owners get?

I wouldn't complain, but I think this may pose a problem.

I don't think the problem is ever likely to surface. We saw what those cheap buffoons offered us last time, remember that stupid pass they offered for DVCers? I am not sure which I find more insulting, the 10% LOS discount or that stupid DVC only pass. I wonder how many of those stupid things they sold.

Even with the Florida Resident's Seasonal pass our park days have dropped dramatically. We go with family from all over the country. We usually have 10-20 people there at the same time. back when we had six free hoppers with our GV stay, we would give four to others, they would buy as many as we needed and all of us would be in the parks all day every day.

Out of 70 days with the free passes, we spent 68 of those day in the parks. We only tripped off site twice in all those trips, one Universal day and one Sea World day. Since those passes went away, some of our trips have seen only two or three park days out of ten or twelve nights, usually about half the days are in the parks and half off site now.

Its a combination of less new stuff and the park tickets being so expensive for some members of our families. It was alot easier for people to buy tickets for one or two less people when we had the free passes and would still be very doable with a Fl Res like discount.

I guess Disney is happy keeping DVCers park days low.

Can somebody send Jim Lewis this poll? I think it is quite clear what would please us DVC members.

91 people out of 75,000 members is not a big deal - wait - generally there is around 200 or 300 members that post here.

Richyams brings up a good point about current Florida residents - they wouldn't get much out of the deal, but I think most wouldn't complain (at least i hope not). What about those who own at Hilton Head - would they be excluded since they don't own in Florida? Of course Disney could choose, if they wanted to, to do a special tier of discounts just for DVC.

Added perks like DVC lounges etc. would be nice, but I think the poll really shows that discounts on tickets would make the majority happy.

DVC does read this forum. Don't know if they will be swayed by the poll or not, but it doesn't hurt to run one.

I voted better park pass discounts too, but a second choice would be unlimited "front of the line" passes or preferred viewing and seating areas. I can't see how those would be very workable though. Pass discounts would be VERY workable.

While I would like to see park pass dicounts the most, I would also like to see an on-line system of point tracking and reservations that is available 24 hours a day. I think a system like that would go a long way toward making DVC much more user friendly.
