:coffee: We read so much on the :disrocks: boards about why purchase DVC, what are the :teacher: benefits, if it's for you or not. MANY times we've seen responces such as
"it's a purchase of the :lovestruc heart", "what wonderful memories are made with family and friends :grouphug: " and all the magical pixiedust: times that we all are so fortunate to have shared with those we :love1: love. Since we all share knowledge of DVC and offer opinions on the boards, why not share everyones favorite memory of DVC/WDW.

Understanding all moments shared with our loved ones are special :thumbsup2 ,if you could choose one particular special magical :smickey: memory from your visits Home at DVC/WDW to share :chat: with others, what would it be and what made it special to you? I.E. A child's first steps, a proposal of marriage, surprise :bday: celebrations, etc.

TIA for sharing!

We just took our 1st trip in Feb 06 and we have several.

1. When my 5 yo dd turned to me and said " Mickey's an awesome guy, MOM!" during fantasmic. The way she said it was priceless. It was just amazing that she got everything this trip--I've seen fantasmic 3 times and never got it, but she did at 5.

2. Our family meeting my DD's friend & her family at Disney and having the girls experience the RnR for the 1st time together- and getting the picture of them on the ride and spending the day with them.

3. My dd being in awe of SAB that she walked right over the edge of the patio into the pool with her clothes and shoes on 10 minutes before we were leaving. It was so funny that we laughed all the way home. :rotfl2:

4. Riding EE for the 1st time with the kids.

Now, this is the reason why we bought into DVC in the first place:   We checked into Poly, kids were spending the afternoon at MGM, so we decided to "use" the bed for some "together" time. A few minutes later, in breezes the maid with towels to use at the pool! Did she get an eyeful! I was so rattled, that I jumped up, ran to the door, and shouted down the hall to her quickly retreating back, "Thanks for stopping!" :scared1: (What was I thinking??!!)

With DVC, you don't have maidservice. :teeth:

I bought DVC in late 1999. My Mom thought I was totally nuts. We went to OKW in May 2000 for Mother's Day and when we walked into the 1 bedroom, her mouth dropped! She walked around looking at everything, couldn't believe it! When we got home, she raved to everyone about "our apartment". I knew then it was "worth it".

I'm not sure this answers what you're looking for, but when I saw the title, "What's your most precious memory..?", I immediately thought of our stay at OKW for Thanksgiving week 2005. The first morning (and lots of other mornings), we were awakened about 7:00 by the cute little voice of a 2 year old little girl, "Where aahh yooo? Where aahh yooo, Geeese?" She was on the porch below us trying to attract the ducks (to her, they were geese) for breakfast. One morning I looked down, and she was wearing her Princess gown. Now that was precious!

Our first morning at checking into our new HOME, everything seemed to sparkle as we enterned the front gate with the guard saying our first "Welcome Home" greeting, we all decided to climb out and go together to check in. When we walked through the doors, my kids were saying "WOW, look at this, :hyper2: Did you see that?" With amazement in their eyes, my DS said, "NOW THIS IS A HOTEL!" I said, "NO this is home and you'd better like it, you 're here for the next 48 years!" Then we walked over to the desk , where DH was signing us in and the CM was so happy and cheerful it was really moving at the emotional time from hearing all the " :welcome: HOME's"
and DS says, "UHN, they really shot her up with those MICKEY :sunny: SUNSHINE PILLS this morning, uh?" I could feel the blood rush to my :crazy2: face as he said it loud! But the CM was again so cute with all her glee and laughed with us.

I bet anything that after we walked off, she said, underher breath, "BRAT~"
He isn't but he is always IN AWE of all the cast members happiness!

We'd bought at BWV, but our first trip as members was to OKW.

So we go bebopping up to our 2BR ... DW, DD (15) and friend of DD (also 15), and me. I unlocked the door, and DD Amy rushed in first and stopped cold in her tracks.

"Is this really ours?" she asked.

"Yep, pal, for years and years and years," I answered.

Priceless moment - and it just validated our purchase. Sweetness!

Trip with mom and dad. Dad soon developed dementia and recently passed away. I don't think they would ever have gone with us, except for the fact the room was "prepaid." My memories are priceless, and DVC made it possible.

It has to have been this past December with mom enjoying just having her feet in the spa at VWL. It was cool and crisp, and we were enjoying morning moments in the dappled sunlight. Her expressions of happiness at being at VWL, her first stay there, makes this memory special for me.

WOW! You all have some really touching and great stories. Thank you so much for sharing. Didn't know if anyone would respond to this tread but there seems to be a spectrum from laughter to smiling tear memories, children to parents. But each are bringing smiles to our faces. Can't wait to read more!

I have lots of special memories, but only one trip that can't be beat. We have 3 children, and our middle child (our only DS) was diagnosed with a brain tumor when he was 3. After "watching" the tumor do nothing for 2 years, it finally started to grow and enhance when he was 5 and just finishing K. We took him to CHP (Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh) for the surgery. They got about 90+% of the tumor and we knew he would need 6 weeks of radiation, followed by a year of chemo after the surgery to get the rest.

I had talked my DH into purchasing DVC just the year before and we hadn't yet made our first trip "home. At 11 months, out we had booked VB for our July 4th trip of that year. Zach's surgery was on 5/22 and he ended up with complications and unexpectedly on life support for a week after his surgery. His heart stopped beating 36 hours and 48 hours after surgery and he had to be "brought back". No one knows to this day why this happened. Thank God, we got him back. He was extremely weak, and we brought him home in a wheel chair on 6/8, thinking there was no chance we could go to VB for 7/4, so we cancelled.

Thru the mercy and grace of our Lord, Zach progressed so much thru the next few weeks, we thought maybe we could go to VB, but when we tried to book again, there was no room at the Inn (hee, hee), but there was room at our "home", OKW. We booked immediately and it was the most magical stay of our trips, thus far.

Zach was very weak, but we were able to do the parks in the AM, and relax to our rooms in the afternoon. The CMs in the parks were awesome. There was a photog that encouraged us to put our arms around each other for the shot, but my DS couldn't lift his right arm - after we explained why (and he was sooooooo thin after being on life support for more than a week), he offered us the pics free. We have that pic framed and on a table as our "victory pic".

Our actual "first" magical moment of this trip had happened a few days earlier. A disboarder had heard my story on these very boards and upon check-in at OKW, had a pin trading starter kit (a kit for each child) waiting for us at check-in. That was so special. All of my kids (ages DD7, DS5, DD4) truly thought Mickey had remembered them. Another magical memory of that trip was just the ability to be in a villa (only a 1 bedroom - but the kids were so small) and having no worries as we were at the most magical place on earth. The amenities and size of the OKW 1 BR were fantastic for our young family.

The icing on the cake was when we had dinner at the castle towards the end of our trip. The fireworks were about to start as we were leaving. We had been discussing this thru dinner and I noticed our son was picking the cheese off of his burger. I didn't pay much notice to it, but did when we got downstairs into the thruway between the castle. My DS, who was still so skinny and weak, pulled me down to him and asked where the mice were. I asked him "what mice?". He said, "Cinderella's Mice. I have my cheese for them in my pocket" and he proceeded to pull out all the cheese he had picked off of his burger. I was dumfounded and needless to say, in tears.

It was our most magical memory and was worth every penny we've paid for our DVC. If it hadn't been for our DVC, we would never have had that magical memory.

Happy Vacationing!

Tigger,

Thanks so much for asking. He is doing very well. Still has very limited mobility with his right hand/arm. The miracle here is that the docs said he would have trouble with school (reading & math) and he proved them wrong by just missing getting straight A's (4th grade) by one B (a 89% - comm-on teach) by 1 point) this past 9 weeks. Our God is an awesome God.

He plays baseball (so awesome to see him stand up there and wrap his right hand around the base of the bat with his left hand (right hand can't do it by it-self) and then swing better than some of the other kids. Mentally, the physical stuff can be a challenge (more difficult mentally knowing that he can't do the physical stuff - especially since his DS's are really good at physical stuff), but he is doing awesome.

Disney is just is the cream of the crop for us. It's where we go to celebrate all of our victories. It helps that we're less than 90 minutes away and on Mission Space, Space Mountain, Big Thunder, etc. - all creatures all equal.

Thanks again for asking,
Lissa

You guys are amazing Cinderilli! Your precious moment brought tears to our eyes. AND loved the cheese story.

Ours would have to be opening the MK in the summer of 2003. We went early and we were 2nd or 3rd in line. My boys got picked from the considerable crowd and we, as a family, got to go in early and get some photos in front of the park, special certificate and throw pixie dust at the end of the countdown. All day long the boys had characters sign the certificate as a keepsake.

I think one great memory for us was after our first visit with our then 6 year old son.We had bought an autograph book and went around the park getting all we saw to sign.my son was a little nervous and extremely shy and seemed to almost break out in tears when going up to the charcters. All day long he explained he just wanted to see Donald ,so we stopped getting autographs since he didnt seem to enjoy it.Well needless to say we were never able to get his signiture and he was a bit dissapointed.Several months later we arrived for another trip and it was late and we were walking out of MGM and right before the exit on the right side out of a side door walks Donald, well my son let out a yell and flew into his outstreched arms.Well the 2 of them started playing and Donald was just fantastic.Well I stood there with the video camera looking at my wife crying,me misting up and never got one min of video. Finally a cm came out and said she would take pictures for us and that Donald had to go.We thanked them so much for being so nice and going th extra mile.We have had many trips since then and alot of great memeories but nothing will compare to that look on his face when he was with Donald.

This photo sums it up for me...DVC just makes it magical...
