Do what I do. Leave town.Christmas - too much work, too many expectations.

Same here. I didn't like it as a kid either. We lived in a very rural area so we had to go to a different part of town to T or T. I HATED coming up with a costume, and I think we spend way too much on our kids costumes now. Thankfully all but one has outgrown it now.For me, it's Halloween. I don't mind early in the evening, when we get the little local kids. That's cute! But after about 7:30, we get hoards of kids, many from not just other neighborhoods but other towns! And we get teenagers with just a mask and shopping bag. We buy 10 bags of candy and still run out every year. It didn't annoy me so much when we first moved here, but every year it gets more and more aggravating.
St Patrick's Day because of all the drunken rowdiness that tends to happen in my area.
Mardi Gras’ primary focus for most locals is not drinking. There are many family-oriented areas. It’s one of my favorite & I haven’t drank at a parade in years.Or Cinco de Mayo, Mardi Gras, or other so-called holidays where excessive drinking is the primary focus for many.
